Can I make maps player-editable?

Is there a way that I can make it so that my players can edit the maps? I have all of my maps on paper, and have no way of getting them into the computer unless I want to freehand them, which is not my forte. It's part of the campaign to let the players map things themselves, so that they can later settle the lands they explore.

Other than them freehanding them, I think they would have to send the files to you so you can load them into the campaign map area. There are free maps about that you can use (try google) and there are some free map generators (dont have their urls handy rigt now) so there are options. Someone will be by to offer more help sooner or later..1

In my current campaign, I used the Split the Party feature to move each player to their own map, and had them use the drawing tools to create their houses. One player went and used FFVI sprites to create his house, but the rest used the existing tools to varying degrees of skill.
With the Mentor Subscription, I've found it easy to make an empty campaign and give the players DM rights. This way they can upload their own images and they can build the map on their off time (like a home!) and then I use the Transmogrifer to move it to the active campaign.

That's an awesome use of the mogrifier.
