Newbie wanting to start DnD!

Hi all!  I'm BRAND NEW to the DnD world, and am really, really, really wanting to start playing, however I have no idea where to even begin. I've watched a ton of DnD related videos, and love the idea and creativity of the game. I need a group who will be willing to teach me all the basics (and be patient with me). Any tips or info would be so helpful.  I start my college courses soon, so will not be available Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Time zone: EDT  Thank you!

I know you said starting school soon but next Tuesday, if you haven't started yet, I am trying to fill a slot for a player who dropped.  I have several newbies and I have taken them thru the interface, 5E, and Character Creation and we will be playing a second session next Tuesday at 6:00 pm EST.  If interested, PM me and we can set up a time to chat on Discord.  I had a bad experience with the player who dropped so I wanted to chat with the prospective player before either of us commit.  Again, PM me if interested.  We are playing the "Dragon of Icespire Peak" from the new D&D Essentials Kit.
