Tokens sized & linked on a scaled map are the wrong size

When you scale a map to use a non-standard number of pixels per square then setup & size tokens on that map and link them to a sheet they are sized wrongly by the same factor (or something close to) that the map was scaled.

aka I got a map scaled to a factor of 0.3 and my tokens are all about a third the size they should be if i set them up and size them on that map.

e.g. if I size one to be 3x3 squares and save it, then drag it back out from the sheet again it's only about 1x1 instead.

I just tested this to try to understand the issue. If I re-size a monster to 3x3 on a normal size map, it's 15 feet across (in the default scale). If I create a new map with a .3 scale, and drag that saved monster token onto it, it takes up 3 squares, again measuring out to 15 feet in scale.

When you say "save it", do you mean you are opening the sheet, pressing "edit", deleting the existing default token and replacing it with your resized one and then saving the sheet?

Hello Raszul,

I am sorry that you have encountered this token sizing map issue.

Can you provide us screenshots of this issue showing of what you expect versus what you are seeing? Be sure to show us the original scale setting versus the changed scale settings.

Once we have those we will be able to provide additional assistance.

Thanks!

create the monster on the 0.3 scale map. then save it. drag it onto any map - 1.0 scale or 0.3 scale, doesn't matter. it will be 0.3x as big as it should be.

create the monster on a 1.0 scale map. then save it. drag it onto any map - 1.0 scale or 0.3 scale, doesn't matter. it will be sized correctly.

I'll look into making and linking/posting some screenshots in a bit.

Hello Raszul,

I am unable to recreate this issue based on the information provided.

So that I can pass this issue along to the devs and rule out possible causes, please carefully work through these steps of our guide to Solving Technical Issues:

If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through all of the requested information in Step 4(Don't forget the complete Console Log!)

Thank you!

right one is the token i saved into the sheet

left one is what i get if I then try to drag it back out again

and I'll try what you suggested, though I doubt it'll change anything ...

I can reproduce this given the steps provided. I've always set up tokens on a normal-sized grid. This is likely a bug, but a minor one, since most tokens are likely saved on a default cell width 1 grid. My suggested workaround (for what it's worth) is to set up tokens while on a default-sized grid, particularly since tokens created in this way will size properly when placed on other-sized grids.

I agree that it is a minor bug and yes, setting up the tokens on a non-scaled (1.0 scale) map always works.

still its a bug, and thus I reported it ^.^

thanks for confirming it!

Hello Raszul,

Thank you for providing us that information. I have gone ahead and passed this information along to the devs. As soon as we have more information, we will let you know.

Hi Raszul,

I can confirm this behavior on my end as well and a ticket has been submitted to the development team for further investigation. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA on when a full fix will be coming. As a workaround, as noted by Keith, I would suggest linking the tokens while on a 1.0 scaled page for the time being.

Sorry for the trouble!
