[LFP][5E] Looking for 1-2 more players for a gritty campaign set in a custom setting, Saturdays at 1 to 4PM PST

Group is full, no longer looking for more players. I’m running a gritty, dark-ish, lightly survival focused game on Saturday’s at 1 to 4PM PST and I’m looking for 1 or 2 more players. We have 3 players already. A life cleric, an arcane archer and another caster. If you want to join, I would prefer some sort of frontline, but I am not requiring it. Our first session will be this Saturday, the 27th of July, so you won’t have missed out on anything. The party is roughly neutral good to true neutral and has the current player chosen goal of restoring order to the area they live. You will have to play a character that can work with this party. The party is starting at level 2. All non-UA classes are okay. Most, but not all, multiclasses are okay. No coffeelock or equivalent. The campaign takes place in the world of Tanith, a low magic world world with 5 large duchies, and many smaller factions, constantly vying for power. The campaign is open and sandboxy, with players driving the action. The campaign will be a mix of combat and roleplay, both will be important. Clever roleplay can be used to avoid combat, and clever combat can be used as a shortcut through tough political situations. The campaign will likely become more political as it goes on. This is a campaign with moral grey areas, not bright and happy, but not entirely dark either. If you are new to the game, I am happy to work with you and help you understand the game. I like teaching new players. This is intended to be a long campaign. We are using the gritty realism variant rest rules. Short rests take overnight, long rests take a week. This is a lightly survival focused game, with supplies such as food and water mattering. We are using the variant encumbrance rule from the PHB. Towns are far apart, dungeons are in the wilderness. And the wilderness is dangerous. We are using custom rules for basically all exploration and travel, as the ones in the PHB and DMG are trash. This will be a hex crawl. We will be using a social circle system. It’s a measure of how much different groups might like your character because of what you have done in the past. There are additional, minor changes to the rules besides these. We will be playing on Roll20, and using Discord to communicate over voice, therefore, a microphone is mandatory. Who I am as a DM: I love complicated worlds full of complex non player characters who have their own goals, beliefs, virtues and flaws. I pride myself on realistically portraying the characters and societies the parties interacts with, their strengths and their flaws. I present big complicated world things to the players, hoping that they will interact with them, probe their depths, and find solutions I never even thought of. Ultimately, I want the players to succeed, but I want there to be challenges and obstacles to overcome, so success means something. I love working with players on their character, their story arcs, their backstories, all of that. If you want to make a suboptimal character in my game, that has a really cool concept, but just isn’t strong enough to keep up, I might slip you a partial feat, or let you move around a racial attribute score to help even things up between you and the rest of the party. I want the party to do cool, awesome things, but I keep an eye on the balance of power between party members. I know the rules, and I’m happy to change, or modify them, but I do so carefully, so players will know what to expect in the future. If you are interested, reply to this post, or send me a message. Feel free to ask questions.
I am interested in the sound of this. I have a decent amount of experience with DnD roll20 campaigns so should be a quick learner. Usually prefer playing caster class Bard,Druid,Wizard. But willing to mixed it up if needs be for the party. Like both combat and roleplay aspects and prefer to have consistency in rules and world based physics(unless magic). when it comes to character creation i like to have a stat block before i craft the backstory. Using it as an additional inspiration. Also a fan of realism and not shy to character deaths when they occur.
Hello Dapeople Reading through your post it peaked my interest I am always quite interested in low magic settings as I find it offers more sense of wonder for the characters. The survival rules make for an interesting challenge and it brings back Ideas for a ranger character. But usually, the ideas really start flowing when I know as much about the DM's world as possible. I'd love to learn more about the other characters and the gritty details of the world. It starts relatively late for me as I'm in the Netherlands but that shouldn't be a problem. Though I wouldn't mind if we started an hour or maybe two earlier. Personally I thrive in RP when my characters story is developed. Another thing I found is helpful for development and bonding is out of session text RP. If you want to hear more I can send you my discord tag but whether I'm admitted or not I hope you all have a great time. William.
