What kind of laptop should I buy for roll20?

Hey, everyone.  Thanks in advance for helping me out.  I appreciate it.   I'm thinking about buying a laptop.  The main reason is I would like to play DND and other systems on roll20.  I've only ever played in person and on the mrpg app.  But It is hard to find games, even harder to find good ones and the mrpg app doesn't have minis, maps and things like that. Unfortunately I don't know much about laptops or computers and don't know anything about what I need to play on roll 20.im looking to spend about $500, and I can go a bit over for extra stuff like a head set and camera ...  I have some secondary things I'd like to do like play simple video games on steam.  (The first two fall outs, civilization, FIFA club manager simulator, etc). Also I'd like to get into podcasting , (before the market becomes saturated) and I d like a simple word processor because I consider myself a write.   What kind of laptop should I get?  Thanks again guys.

Most modern laptops will run Roll20. Try to stay away from chromebooks or any laptop that is low budget (bottom end cpu and low amount of ram). I would recommend getting something at a min of 2GHz and 8 gigs of ram. This really is not an appropriate forum to get into specifics as it will go offtopic very fast (it will move away from Roll20 specifics). /r roll20 Reddit would be a better place to open up this discussion.
Hello Mad Dog S., The Optimizing Roll20 Performance wiki page should provide you with some additional information. As a friendly reminder, all post on the forums must be related to Roll20. As such, please be sure to keep conversation about the use of Roll20. Thanks!

For what it's worth, Roll20 will run on most Chromebooks (I use one for simple game prep), but I would not recommend it. They run out of RAM, run slowly and the screens are typically smaller.

I’ve found Roll20 much easier to use since I switched from a 13” MacBook Pro to a 27” monitor on a Mac Mini.  So I suggest getting a monitor for your laptop, or a larger screen size model.

I would recommend not worrying about touch screen either. Right now that function is buggy and people have problems with.
Thanks guys
