Roll20 Lag Is Unbearable

My group plays Thursday nights at   9est and the lag is unbearable.  It's not just my computer.  Every PC in my game is having the same issue.  This has been happening for everyone for the last 8 sessions.    - We're even using a Roll20 game module (Tomb of Annihilation).  - We're not broadcasting through Roll20 (using Google Hangouts).  - We've tried all of the optimization steps. - I have a pro account  I realize that I'm ranting a bit here, but everyone is frustrated and we're ready to give up and try another online table top.

Assuming since you've tried all the optimization steps that you have ensured you are not running Advanced Fog of War with Global Illumination turned on. That being said, which character sheet are you using? During which actions are you seeing the most lag?
Hello Brian D., I am sorry to hear that you have encountered this issue with lag.  Even though all users seem to be having a lag issue, there could be multiple different reasons why each of you are.  However, as keithcurtis has pointed out, there is currently a bug with having AFoW and Global Illumination active at the same time on maps. It is best to turn one of them off at the moment. Additionally, to rule out other potential issues and provide a baseline for assistance,  please have everyone that is having this issue carefully work through these steps of our guide to   Solving Technical Issues : Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome  and  Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable  all  add-ons/extensions. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeeds, please have them also thoroughly work through all of  Step 4  including the name of the campaign and Console Log. Thank you!
Thanks for the quick response and suggestions keithcurtis and Dragon Dreamer.   Players are experiencing lag when trying to move tokens and load character sheets. As GM, sometimes I am able to move their tokens for them, but they don't see the action for 30 - 45 seconds after.  I'm pretty sure we are using the D&D 5E by Roll20 character sheet. I checked the location map we have been exploring the past few weeks and it does have AFoW and Global Illumination turned off.  I'll disable it this week and see if that helps. I'll have the party work through steps 1 - 3 at the beginning of the next session. Thanks again for your support!  I'll report back on how things go!

OK, I'm going to suggest a few more things to try. You may have already tried them, but I can't be sure from "all the optimization steps", so fogive me if these are things you've done. 1. Keep the number of characters manageable. I try to run at about 100. Even 200 should not be too bad, so long as they are not mostly spellcasters. 2. Speaking of spellcasters, run them lean. Do not overload them with all potential spells, just the spells they have prepared, or that are known. It's very tempting to load up a cleric or druid with all the spells they can  cast, and just toggle the prepared button, but spells eat a lot of attributes and take a lot of memory. 3. You're running Tomb of Annihilation, so I won't offer any map advice other than to say keep them manageable and don't turn on both AFoW and Global Illumination. You've covered that one, though. 4. Make sure that only PCs have vision. Some modules have vision turned on for NPCs by default. If AFoW or DL is turned on, this can lead to slowdown. Turn those off. You are a Pro user, so there are script that can help with mass token changes. Here's one to remove sight from evertyhing on the page.
Disabled AFoW and DL and performance returned to normal.  Is there a "ticket" or something open that I can check for updates on a fix for this bug? Thanks again for everyone's recommendations.  I truly do appreciate it.  We had a blast playing last week.
