I once played with a player on a satellite connection and it was very hard for him to hear us (and us him) because the latency just made everything break up constantly. Ping is hilarious on Satellite but the quality is good. It just means
awkward silences as I make sure you have finished speaking so we don't
cut over each other. Playing anything online MMORPG-wise is tricky as
any actions I do happen about 21ms behind the server. Lots of dying. My receiver is stationary (fixed to the house), but I can imagine military and navy would have poorer connections as their receivers are in motion while maintaining connections. Pat S. said: Hi Rae. With your limited internet bandwidth, have you thought about text based gaming? There is no voice or video used and while it is slower than voice games, many text games accommodate conflicting time zones easier than voice games. I looked for text games (email and postal!) but couldn't find any; even tried getting friends to consider starting a few. If you know of a place that lists such things (a directory) then I'd love to check it out. Shroud said: So are you seeking middle of the night, GMT? I am available to set up a 5e sword & Sorcery, low fantasy game in Thailand, that would start at around 9 AM GMT+7m which would be your 2 AM. Problem is as you say, weird times, hard to find players. In any case, welcome to roll20. Thanks for the welcome! 2am would be a little hard for me, but thank you for the offer. I'm looking really for something starting around 11pm 12am. So there isn't much late night waiting around for me.
