"Ezra, goddess of blood and sacrifice. Portrayed as a tall, lean elf woman with ink black hair. She is feared, ruthless, and undoubtedly unarguably real. Active in the mortal world, she bestows blessings more like a merchant then a deity. Any sacrifice accompanied by the proper words and ritual will be answered by her. Anything from nice weather, to a bountiful harvest, to victory in a key battle. Though of course the more you ask, the more payment she demands. None the less this makes her following powerful, dangerous, and it has made them persecuted. Five times in the past three centuries the kingdom of Sandor has nearly been toppled by worshipers of this dark god. Each time overwhelming resources and a strong royal family is the only thing that provided victory. So the now ancient king of Valdenbar criminalized the worship of this goddess in any form. Not long after the worship of any but Arkus, champion of light, followed suit. The past forty years of peace is cited as validation for this extreme policy. After all things are good in the land. The king is both a just man and a wise ruler. Just enough to arrest and persecute anyone of any caste when wrongdoing is discovered. Wise enough to maintain power despite this hard stance. He is loved by many and respected by all for leading his kingdom into this golden age. Though that doesn't make the chain collar on your neck chafe any less. It doesn't heal the blisters on your hands or lift the stink of your 'cell'. The western salt mines are a brutal place. The dumping ground for any crime to severe to be punished with a caning. Here inmates are forced to atone for whatever crimes they've committed with a lifetime of labor to the crown. Dangerous folk are found here, death is a punishment reserved only for those too dangerous to be kept alive. As such criminals of all sorts can be found on every level of the mine. Even heretics. Recently a great host of Ezra's worshipers were brought to the mine, some to your specific floor as well. You've overheard from guards a great coven of them was found in one of the port cities. Apparently accumulating funds from an extremely successful fishing enterprise. Gossip has filled the prison over them. You've heard they operated for years, that it took hundreds of men to take them in, of dastardly things they were doing with their profits. People whisper that perhaps the cults returned. That maybe, just maybe, something big is coming." Details This will be a text based game, fair warning I am new to the website, though not to GM'ing. Looking for 4-6 players, I'd like to play tomorrow 9/14 at noon but if not I'll just postpone to next weed for the first session. All players start at level one with no equipment, don't worry too much about it if your a mage is all I'll say. I only have the basic rule books and I'm more likely to select people who follow the basic classes/races, though I won't expressly forbid anything. No rules on alignment, as long as your characters capable of functioning with a group.
