Issues with first game session

I ran a test game session last night, and it eventually got going pretty well after about an hour of setup.. Not sure if these should be individual topics, but i will just spit them all out here.. I would really like to see #2 get resolved somehow, as it affected all of my players. 1) DEV server access. It took me a VERY long time to learn that accounts are not synced immediately. I was attempting to try character sheets, and was trying to get people to log into my campaign on the dev server. They were getting "invalid username/password" errors. -I suggest you add a warning on the DEV server on failed login attempts that mentions accounts are synced every few hours, so people (like me and my players), dont spend a half hour resetting passwords, etc. 2) Web cam connectivity issues 1 out of 5 people were able to get webcam's working on the default UI. I couldnt even get mine working as the GM. The default picture just shows. I found no way to troubleshoot this, other than an external link to ToxBox (which passed without errors) I first tried with default UI with Chrome webbrowser. Then attempted to use Flash plugin. None worked, and again, I see no way to even query available devices, or list any debug info on what the app found. Why is ToxBox reporting it see's my camera, but roll20 cannot? Eventually, i relaunched with Hangouts, and everything worked flawlessly. I dont mind this, but Hangouts ends up taking up more real estate. Also, not everyone had a google account, and we had to wait longer just to get them to set up. Not your issue per say, but it added to the frustration. 3) Generic Dice Interface The dice pop-up window is way too big. I ask for a d20 and users have to pop open this big window to roll a die, then close it. I dont think it would take up much space to have a dice icon existing in the UI somewhere that does basic rolls. 4) 3D dice eventually bugged out Near the end of my game, about 2 hours in, the 3D dice stopped appearing as my players used them, and only showed when I rolled them. They did however get notifications in the chat window for their dice rolls. The odd thing is that I did not. Also, my dice stayed on the screen at this point. I had to turn off 3D dice because the screen was filling up with them. 5) Everything else I hope this doesnt sound like a big rant. I just wanted to express the issues first. Beyond the issues above, we had an awesome test run. Everyone see's the great potential, and had a great time. Dynamic lighting adds SO much realism to the game that most people take for granted in typical tabletop sessions. I see that once I get my my templates and macros setup properly its going to be amazing.
Oh, as for PC specs for camera issues, let me specify: Windows 7 64bit, Chrome Browser, PS3Eye camera

WRT the dice window: One option might be to create some common macros that would be useful for everyone (such as a simple d20 roll), and make the macros visible to all of your players. The macros can be put in the bar at the bottom of the screen (below everyone's name) and clicked.

Regarding #4, I suggest refreshing your browser if that happens again.

Regarding #3: Typing /roll d20 in the chat window will roll a d20, no clicking of anything needed. Or, typing [[d20]] in chat will do the same thing. https://wiki.roll20.net/Dice_Reference covers all the wide variety of dice that can be rolled. I wish I could help with the other things.
Yeah, im aware of the chat window dice rolling. Just annoying for some people to have to type out stuff for basic commands. I personally dont mind even bracketing all my commands to make them pretty, but for non-tech savvy people they have already complained to me. This leads to another issue that popped up as well. I spend a bunch of time creating macros for these "common" features in my game, and I have no way to share them with my players other than making them token attachments. Now, i dont mind adding them as token attachments per say, but that also leads into other problems I have, ie: too many macros and they get truncated on my screen. Ultimately what I would prefer, is to have "global" macros at the bottom, which I can share with all users of my campaign, and token macro's at the top, which will be character specific.

Felts said: Ultimately what I would prefer, is to have "global" macros at the bottom, which I can share with all users of my campaign... You can do that already. When you create a macro on the My Settings tab you can choose from a drop down under "Visible to Players (Optional)" If you designate any of your players to be able to see the macro, it will be available under their Macros in their Settings Tab.
omg... it was hidden from the scroll bar, and fit so cleanly i had no idea there was more below... thanks, exactly what i wanted!!

Awesome! Glad that helps!
