Battle Royale anyone?

I'm still trying to get a hang of the combat system, and I was thinking it would be fun to run a simple "battle royale" underground gladiator type of session. Instead of a typical investigation scenario, your character wakes up from a haze in a fighting pit with a weapon next to you, facing off against several other people. Above you is an audience of people cheering and making bets. Then you have to fight to death. Everyone has a collar attached with explosives and if they refuse to fight, try to escape or remove the collar, its gets remotely detonated and their head explodes.  Anyhow, the story is cheesy, but the point is to go right into combat so those of us who are new can get a better handle on it. Anyone interested?
I have a pretty good handle on the combat.

The thing about CoC is that combat is deadly, is not like DnD. You have between 8 to 12 HP on average and you don't have magic potions or healing magic so combat is pretty fast, you can die from a gun shot or a couple of mele hits. CoC is about skills and role playing so I think you should design a map where you can hide, take cover, find equipment and the like instead of a coliseum  gladiatorial arena, just a thought. I remember in sixth edition at the beginning of the book it  says “if you have to fight in CoC you did something wrong”, that's  how deadly combat is, same goes for Runequest which uses the same system, unlike DnD it doesn't encourage players to make stupid decisions.  There is an old adventure that is set in WWI that gives you options to make a soldier and is heavy in combat rather than clue gathering and social interactions, it could be an option too, though I think it was fifth edition but it's not difficult to convert it to 7th edition. Lastly, what time frame would you propose?
Combat is deadly and you only want to do it when you have a serious advantage or as a last resort in CoC.  Pulp Cthulhu is a bit more forgiving but even then its still deadly.  The research and investigation is to find another solution or to give you the advantage if combat has to be your solution.  I had one adventure where one member carried out doing the banishing ritual and we surrounded him with shotguns to protect him long enough to do the ritual a second time, in case he failed the first time. Out of three adventures we have only been in combat once and we had the advantage or drop on some normal criminals trying to steal the artifact.  But yeah combat is not good.  There are some great youtube videos on combat for CoC so you know how to run it.
