Supper Newb Question

I'm thinking about getting into D&D and was wondering if this tool could be used to just manage conflict scenarios (character sheets, dice roles, HP additions/deductions) but not the map end of the encounters and.  I want to be playing in the same room with friends with a traditional board set up but I wanted to stream line the DM end of things a bit.  Thoughts?
