Hello! We are a group of LGTBQ-inclusive international friends at the end of the first act of our third campaign season! In campaign one, we all spent a few months learning to play 5th edition together over the DM's coffee table (10 sessions), while campaign two was our first year of playing remotely, over Discord and Roll20, and the completion of some major quests (30 sessions). Our group size has varied from four to seven, but our PCs could use the help of one more dedicated, motivated player character to face the threats to their world! We'd love to get you caught up, beginning with some conversations, and eventually some reading, to fit into our world your new level 10 Player Character.  We do most of our roleplay in-character, though it is never required. We have some talented improvisers on the team, so if you have been looking for somewhere to scratch your acting itch, this might be for you... and if not, I hope you have another way of expressing your imagination! We find it helpful to think of ourselves as a group of writer-actors working on a story together. Especially with the prospect of recording sessions for eventual animation... We have a few artists, a writer or two in the group. We really don't have room for any spectators or sidekicks... we need a Hero (cue music).  Entirely free to play, we usually meet around 3pm EST, Sunday afternoons, and go for the usual 3-4ish hours. We run a Sandbox game, so while there is a rich world to explore, we get out what we put in... the more meaningful content the players bring to the game, the richer an experience we enjoy together. We've begun using Character Arcs from Monte Cook's "Your Best Game Ever", which we will make sure to include in the reading list.  The DM's job is to weave the threads for all the PCs together, making sure everyone gets to share airtime/screen-time/the stage. We have the space for one more engaged player to join our current group of up-to-five, as the party is, naturally, on a very important mission to save the world. This is a High Fantasy game, as our world of Ganaed is experiencing a magical renaissance called the Golden Age of Magic. This is the backdrop to the beginning of a world war between the "good" races, complete with morally-dubious monarchs and their courtly intrigue; if you aren't into political games, aren't ready for some interesting Homebrew lore to dip into, this may not be for you. The characters just came into possession of their first strongholds to use as bases of operation. They also have an airship they used to traverse the Astral Sea, in campaign 2. We use Discord for voice unless/until we encounter connection issues, then resort to text. If this sounds like a fun premise you want to come explore some meaningful stories through, introduce yourself in a message to me, and tell me the character ideas you'd want to contribute! I'm always happy to begin a conversation about how we could weave these ideas into the story of this collaborative world we've built so far. Also, please note our content is mostly Homebrew, not SRD- or League-approved, so Rules Lawyers need not apply. The rule of cool prevails here, so we are playing less Dungeons & Dragons 5e, but more Dice & Decisions 5e-ish. OUR PARTY -Clippet Whitebeak (PC), kenku beastmaster ranger of outlander background. Beast companion is a swarm of Microgriffons, acquired on the Astral Sea. They captain a magi-mechanical airship, at the tender age of 10.      -Vasily the Chronicler (Follower), human artisan scribe.        Seems human... but she has been known to shapeshift when knocked out...      -Kawika Kilani (Follower), gnome artisan master chef.        Serves as cook aboard party's airship.      -Theodoricus "Theo" Scrapmeister (Follower), gnome mechanic.        Serves as chief engineer aboard party's airship.  -Dana Olberti (PC),human draconic origin sorceress of noble background. Her family hide their illusion magic from their townsfolk. She's also dracophobic      -"Snowball" (Follower/Familiar), albino ettercap usually disguised as a fluffy tarantula.       Both stuffed animal and monster, often comic relief.      -Ofelia Smith (Follower), human artisan blacksmith.        Best blacksmith in the town of Olberti.      -Fleshy (Follower), a flesh golem.       He came with the house, mostly just tends the garden.      -Bernard Chartrouge (Follower), human mercenary.        Serves as red shirt aboard party's ship. -Doctor Grigor Nikolai (PC), tiefling divine soul sorcerer, a founder/Current Chairman of the Board of the Tiefling Syndicate... he was a folk hero lost to time on the Astral Sea... until now...      -Legion of Grigor (Unit) Light Infantry Company of zealous devotees.      Recently helped the PCs and allies overthrow the royalty, making way for Grigor's return -Dez Ire (PC), cambion blade pact warlock of Levistus. He recently discovered his more-infernal-than-tiefling nature, has been trying to fit in to Tiefling Syndicate capital as courtesan, until recent succession crisis.       -Lilith Levistorum (Follower) cambion blade brawler       Dez's paternal sister, also a cambion, also coming to grips with being children of an archdevil -Professor Aroran Veilwood (PC), elven lore master wizard. Nicknamed "Gramps," he's recognized the warning signs of a coming doom, and escaped his retirement to go on one last adventure, to save the world... There is an additional crowd of NPCs, allies, colleagues, friends, and rivals around each of them, of course. WHERE YOU ENTER OUR STORY -The party is now level ten, so that is where you should begin as well; definitely by now a Regional Hero. As a point of comparison, many of the party were just awarded property and positions of lesser nobility in a mega-city far to the north, Dabyron. You should be medium-powerful, perhaps already managing a small organization already. What kind of power base sounds fun to have/ fight for/ improve? -The party have a follower or two each at this point, and so too should you. They could be Retainers from the MCDM book (Matt Colville's Strongholds & Followers, of which I will happily share the relevant portions), artisans, professionals of some kind, NPC class, or just imagined to be lower-level PC classes. They will be mostly-RPed by the DM, but managed in combat by the PC to whom they are loyal (the PC also controls major life decisions, as well- they are secondary PCs for you, and mouthpieces for the DM as needed). These followers probably are your lieutenants, in charge of different aspects of your operation. Who are your most important two followers, and what do they do for your organization? -The party is currently based to the enormous city of Dabyron, newly appointed Thanes (lesser nobility, and their guests) of the Red Dragon King, Korkarthengolix. Your character and their organization might be from there, or perhaps merely be headed there on business. Perhaps your character is arriving to discuss the threats to the world, perhaps requested by the royal council. If we like you and/or your character idea, we'll do a Session Zero with your character (this weekend or next? within two weeks), where we'll discuss what character arc(s) you want your character to endure, and ask some good questions to prompt thinking through the nuances of their personalities. If you've read this whole thing, well maybe you do have the fortitude and imagination to be a good fit for our group... So introduce yourself to the group in a private message to me, pitch your character concept, ask your questions, and we'll get to know ya. Have a great day, Ben (DM)
