Book 3, Raven Ascendant (Awarded up to and including 28 here) Chapter 28: The Prodigal Son Returns We've arrived at the planet of Phraan, a boring and nondescript stopoff at the edge of the civilised galaxy. To repair the hole in the ship/galaxy/astral plane will take several days. Well 'repair' is a strong word. I send out a private missive to the Neptoor legion as well, should they manage to encounter any Shard-cursed blood titans, and I’ll leave a message for the travellers in a museum on the tomb world, something like if he helps with that or with sorting out the time issues we’re currently having, I’ll owe him Cos y’know museums, it’s how time travellers keep score. Seth is off in his private life-lab, Ambella is touring the galaxy. I head out with Jasmine to the Officer's Mess for breakfast, with this constant impending feeling of something is going to happen. I note that Ambella's mom is now working alongside the life sciences division or the timefuckery division. Either or. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice that Northorn, while he's eating, is leaving some kind of vapour trail, almost exactly like a motion blur. I comm Gill over to check it out. I'm not entirely sure what's happening when all of a sudden, I notice that the clocks on the ship are behaving erratically. Seth gets commed as well to come back to Officer's Mess. Judging by the clocks it's going to take... a while. I write out a note to Jasmine explaining everything and I decide to get some meditation and paladin training done, maybe some letter writing. They appear right there as soon as I thought about it. It appears we must leave the timeline. Or it'll correct itself around us. I have some small things to resolve here, even if it takes *me* an eternity. I explain everything to her, and I ask for her help in rescuing her in my timeline. I see Ambella Mirth's notes, the breaking of Torou and the breaking of the bindings on Jasmine. There are four other subjects to address as well, including how Thedris manipulated Ash. I go over this with Jasmine, then I prepare my final rites and blessings. It's time to go back to the Old War. -------------------------------- We drop back into the world. We're about 400 feet from the entrance to the Bazaar on Xonkaelera. Ambella pauses, reaching forwards, her fingertips glowing as feathered tendrils of magic reach outwards from all of her, before snapping back into her. Then we're standing in front of the church, looking at Lancelot, then we're in front of a glittering beach, then we're in a hillside knee deep in snow, my aura sending the dead onwards. We're in a cave, a Neptoorian, a monk, greets us as Thedris' company. Seth says that and that's when Grey- no, Ash, pipes up. It's timelinery fuckery. I inform him of what I learned from Jasmine. That's when the other Seamus arrives, and we're all pointing weapons at him on reflex. He continues being slimy, trying to justify that he's the correct Seamus for this timeline. That's when he alerts us about a threat coming, spinning around eyes wary as he raises his hands as if to cast spells at whatever is coming towards us. That's when the Time Lice begin circling the perimeter, I can hear them and their incessant clicking. I can't see them, even as they're being cut down by the others, I put myself on guard, ready for if any make it within melee range. Once that's dealt with, we have sleezy Seamus, who truthfully explains to us that he's only able to take us to the timeline that we're bound to. As we're arguing about... timestuff. A fairy drops down and NOW THERE'S ANOTHER SEAMUS SOMEWHERE OVER THERE. We calmly make our way over to where the fairy's 'master' is. A shiny part of the wall up ahead is radiating pulsing magic. And there's a Seamus embedded in a glass wall. As Seth begins to try make contact, and we're in the middle of a field full of scorch, the top of the cave is missing and we're all having a splitting headache. Seamus is in front of us as he stands up. A blast radiates out from Seamus, and we're all standing up. And then Seth's deployed the anti-Scorch on the rock that appears to be Morjorn, who would've been dying to the Scorch. That's when Seth releases a ton of energy, which sends the scorch into a frenzy. Seamus teleports us to a safer outcrop. Seth continues flooding magic into the area to speed up the process, and then there's a blast of more magical energy as Seamus and Ambella blow up a magical canister. Seth continues shedding magical energy as we assist him to keep working onwards. For almost half a day we're at it. As the Moss beats back the Scorch, and the rocks and scorch are being broken down into just... dirt. By the time we've hit the 32 hour mark, the entire cavern has been cleared. That's when Morjorn steps forth, greatly diminished and he slams out a blast of power, calling the earth to him. The blast knocks everyone else out, as Morjorn pulls out a form of energy from his chest, and he lets out a stream of creatures, and there are almost four dozen beings around. It takes a couple of hours for the others to reawaken as I chat and talk to Morjorn and the fey. Seamus is the first to awaken, setting out to scout the surroundings and get his bearings. The others awaken in turn. Shuttles vox in and rather than wait five hours for pickup, we go to them. We're on the bridge of the Golden Lion. Time to check out our rooms again. A couple of plaques, a medal of valour, a bunch of combat shirts and the like. Missing one elf. Time to work on correcting that. I commission a shelf for one of the few things Lanius may have done right. I use my object read to assess what happened within, but it's just Lanius working as a bodyguard for Ambella. There's work to be done.

Chapter 29+30: Stryder Part Two: Electric Boogaloo. Corvus exists his meditation as the briefing begins on the Golden Lion, we still have a list of all the previously compromised crewmembers and peoples. But this time, he has no advanced warning of our intentions. Apparently Thedris had hidden the Pilgrim in the engineering section, cos he's a dick. I approach Ambella with a burning question. The souls of those that Mortus takes under her care. Where do they go? Seth immediately has a precognitive flash, apparently the followers of Mortus are immediately being sent after me. I grab my gear and head over to my room. Seth notifies Ambella and Grey that the followers have on them some kind of egg shaped device, they have to shatter those or I'm likely to be sent to Mortus prematurely. I clear out a nice wide space in my room, leading out into the corridor. Judging by that reaction, whatever it is I'm going to find out is enough for her to view me as an immediate threat. I do not even serve her, and yet she disappoints me anew. Nothing to worry about, Grey and Ambella between them have rooted out any problems, and the little people don't manage to find their eggs. Well, I have work to do, sensing as Ambella goes on to commune with her Creator. Back in the ship, we begin preparing for our attack on Stryder. While the others are preparing to take the fight to him in his own little dimension, I will be leading the ground assault on his physical form in this plane. I begin going over the plans with the soldiers, a high impact attack as soon as we re-enter realspace, going for shock and awe. The others step through their portal as I begin my descent down to the planet, leading the attack force. "Never Waver. Never Falter. The lives of uncountable innocents hang in the balance. Forwards and drive this abomination into the burning dawn." Like a burning comet, I dive to the planet, my wings glaring a harsh aura, at the tip of the spearhead as the guns of the Lion begin raining fire down on the planet. Hitting the ground, we begin dispersing, my manifest aura already breaking apart the raised dead. But it appears there's something that wasn't expected. As I push my aura out further, I can sense that this oddity is the vitality of the creature having been siphoned out of the other realm, believing that his physical body will survive where his eldritch one will not. A bad bet. With my aura whirling around me, freeing the trapped souls, and with the rest of the force hot on my heels, I begin advancing on the central mass, lit up by the fires of the orbital barrage. The twisting eldritch tendrils are lashing out at all of us, but doing a pretty poor job. It begins curling some tendrils over itself, trying desperately to fend off the withering bombardment. By the time we arrive, the shield is still up, so I condense my aura, and drill it into the side of the shield from a slight distance. Combined with the weight of the bombardment, the shield shatters, and I brush the dust off of me preparing to charge as the last of the orbital shells drop down. The others are joining me, pouring fire on any nearby tendrils or undead. There's a brief pause as it tries to assail us on the ground through our minds. It works as well as a leprous rat scrabbling at an adamantium fortress. The fighting continues unabated as we dive into the melee of vampire flesh and teeth. I emerge victorious. Stryder doesn't emerge at all.

Chapter 31: Affairs of the Heart. Over the next four days, I lay down the framework once again for the preparation of the Mausoleum of Yenia, along with a built in research facility on Seth's request. The rest of that time is spent preparing for Jasmine. Apparently she's bound to a Greater Daemon known as Derzuss. Ambella pulls out the Carnation of Life, which she's willing to lend to me. As I touch the dagger, I feel a burning sensation that courses slowly through my hand and arm. So apparently I won't be using this dagger. Without knowing the creature's true name either, this may be a longer trip than I'd hoped. But Ambella has a plan. I'm standing in front of a brick wall. I'm not sure how I got here. I mean here in life. As I'm contemplating this, a goblin steps out of the solid wall, does that awkward step around thing and walks off. Upon being accosted by the Door-Troll, Ambella heads in while I stay behind. She returns through the 266 bricks with exactly the location of this daemon. A real time location. To the capital of Ra's government. Hey Hail! After some serious brainstorming, he does have a kind of idea how to get through. An official statement that a demon hunt will take place, and then it's us on the way. Our target is disguised and on the planet that he'll be killed if he's found. Perfect. Hail sends out the comms, and the literal second it's verified, we're on the ground and on the move. The guards let us pass, and we see our target, alongside a very familiar figure. As the 'general' and his entourage begin speeding away. Unacceptable to Ambella, she blasts them with magics that dispels the disguises of some of the retinue. I'm in amongst them, stabbing the Mark into the leg, and as he flails to turn with his arm up. He loses the arm. Grey appears nearby, blasting shots into his head and he's down. The demons break, fleeing with Scara heading discretely away from the others. Ambella covers the body, I grab Scara, throwing her back at the corpse. Grey and the guards deal with the remaining troops. The guards then join up with us, and Ambella begins to try and bluff her way, the Guards begin to turn hostile, seeing this, I immediately step in, saying that these creatures will be taken back and dealt with... accordingly. With that taken into account, we extract the chest and Scara, returning to my room in the Lion. This may be difficult to remove from the carpets, I mean who has gooey blue blood? Scara is completely confused, as I prepare the ritual to free her, Ambella tries to explain what's going on. She swallows. Then she passes out, her horns falling off. Ambella heads off to a dinner outing, Grey heads off to his fairy. I decide to stay put, ordering up a modest selection of clothing, armour, mortal foods that Jasmine was fond of. Grey is getting married?
Chapter 32: In my infinite mercy (I forgot and then decided it just wasn't worth the trouble), I decided that as the Mortus followers hadn't actually managed to attack me, I'd leave them be for the time being. A day or so later, I can feel my hackles rising, apparently someone important wants to talk to Seth. As he returns, our next destination is Draconis, the capital of the federation, apparently we've been summoned for a report of some kind. Apparently something's gonna happen there, judging by the colluding occuring in Seth's quarters, so I'm gonna arrive ready for war. As is tradition. There's some confusion as Ambella zips back and forth, suddenly there's a comms from Seth that something eldritch (not his words) is bumping around, and Ambella vanishes. There's an upset ball of aggressive nano-armour wandering around the area. Upon explaining this, she casts a blessing. Outside, I suddenly notice, after the distinct noise of a golf swing, the nano-blob is hovering outside and after dodging a bunch of fire before hitting the dirt, metaphorically. Something tells me that in another life, Ambella would've made a great fighter pilot. In the lull between the crises I convince Northorn to do the catering. It takes some time, but we're soon ready to make some throughjumps, although it's as rough a jump as always, watching Ambella's Volt-dampener suit struggling to figure out why reality is breaking. After several consecutive jumps, we arrive in orbit above Draconis, the crew having gone on their own personal projects on the trip. We take one of the shuttles down to the planet. Planetside, we prepare to enter the council chambers, the only real awareness I have is that Seth says there's a likelihood that we may be attacked within. Ambella and I, being the staunch professionals we are, prepare to face 'whatever'. Arrayed within the room are Tiamat's Counsel, including Ambella's father. Apparently, the planet thought to house the dominion of Madness has some issues. Surprise. Ambella elucidates that they're after her. This combined with umbrian hellraising all over the place, it makes this complicated. Obviously it's our job to deal with it without the federation going in 'officially'. It's been pretty aware we have a personal grudge against them, and we tend to operate on our own networks, so that shouldn't be an issue. It looks like we're going back to Neptoor.

Chapter 32&33: The sand blows across the desert, the temperature never dropping below 50 degrees. The waves of heat would kill most unprotected creatures within minutes. There stands the Falcon God Horus, proud and powerful. His black falcon eyes reflecting all that look upon him as if mirroring their very souls. His beak strong and hooked and forever in the grin of a predator. His shoulders are broad and muscular and this God stands over twenty-four feet tall. All the better to over see all that he rules. With cautious strides he moves across the desert with his army behind him. There before the mine entrance stands his newest foe, the dragon known for his powerful mind and company of killers. They were here once and stole something of great value. Hours knows it was them that removed Hail from his world and knows they will be the end of Anubis. He waits for the dragon to speak. The dragon has only one servant with him now, a human that stands proud and looks as if he himself could take on his entire army. The human glows with power and shows now signs of of his pride being unearned. The dragon smiles and the human relaxes. They do not see Hours as a threat. The human has looked over every member of the army and has measured them, and knows how to take them all down. Horus grins back at the Dragon as it finally speaks. "I am lord commander Hunter and this is my bodyguard Corvus." We were expecting something to go wrong, but before I can even react, Thedris arrives with Mirth and Ash. My immediate reaction to comm Ambella, requesting either an extraction or reinforcements. I receive no reply, so dive for cover behind what's left of Seth's torso, comm-ing her again, adding on quite frantically that Bjorn had just appeared in a flash of golden light. Something is hideously wrong here, Bjorn was very definitely dead the last time I checked. Off behind me, a dark purple cloud of energy starts manifesting and over on the other side, I see Thedris turning into a massive dragon, that's when Seth also turns into a large unconscious dragon. That's when the cavalry arrive in the form of Gill's drones, and after voxing Gill, along with promises of an evac. The ominous cloud is getting much bigger. In front of me, the body of Seth is bubbling and oozing black stuff, and the wound that's through his chest is diamond shaped. it looks exactly like the blades on the tail. The bubbles popping off the body landing in the ooze, four little spider legs come out of the bubble and it scurries around. Looking up, I see Gill approaching in the shuttle that brought us here... a... Hemotitan assault shuttle. Casting back in my memory, the Lion's complement didn't have any of these, not even captured and restored. It doesn't add up. Horus casts some kind of magics or ability at the ominous cloud and it just vanishes. That is Thedris in front of me, that is Torou and Dawn, and that is Stryder. I step in front of Dawn, asking her who that dragon is. That's when Dawn notices me for the first time, in obvious bewilderment as she remembers dying. I ask her again, but she says she doesn't know what's going on, she just appeared here. I tell her to kill the downed dragon and take cover behind me. Up ahead I can hear Ashes... pistols. I'm distracted as first Thedris and then quickly the Dawn-construct devolve into the scuttling black infestation, attempting to attack me. As the comms are restored, I leap into flight as the living oil slick with blades tries to surround me. Apparently everyone got my call, and then they and myself are teleported away to a cave, which appears to contain a slab of glowing ceramite in a pit. I arrive not soon before Grey begins eating a ton of calzones, and then attempting to redecorate the insides of the cave with the same calzones. That's when I notice that Ambella appears to be manifesting tendrils similar to the creatures we escaped from. While they're discussing this, Gill appears to have grown massive ears. Ambella's tendrils are attacking Seth to no real effect, also causing Ambella to appear to choke. Grey attempts to erect a bubble, she teleports, then Ambella's back. Apparently there's some disrupted ritual that needs fixing. Ambella is above ground when Grey and I eventually reach her while Smil and co sorts out the ritual. We 'disrupt' the ooze following her around while the ritual is fixed, After much discussion, we begin to contain the goop. As we're corralling it to containment, there is a short hiccup as Ambella starts drifting towards the goo. However we manage to snap her out of it and get it into the ship. Well most of it. Grey manages to drift backwards, scooping up the errant goo like the leavings that it is. The ship is teleported down to Seth to deal with. Job done. Ambella's back up with us, and she collapses on the sand, and she seems very dead. This is problematic. Especially the black tendrils coming out. Without touching her, I check, but she's looking pretty dead. With Seth already on the way, we urge him to hurry the fuck up, and they disappear back down to the containment area to get whatever it is out of her. She doesn't come back.
