In the grim darkness of the 41st Millenium, there is Only War... What? Hi there, I'm considering running Fantasy Flight Game's RPG Only War in the near future, which focuses on the men and women of the Imperial Guard. If you're unfamiliar with Warhammer; think Band of Brothers/The Pacific in spaaaaace. Players would be a squad of humans as part of a regiment created together, which dictates what kind of missions you'd be undertaking. Sessions will most likely be vignettes set amongst the larger conflicts your regiment is involved in, leaning more towards RP and than combat (which could be quite lethal). Games would be run via roll20 and discord, with me using Roll20 video and discord for sound. Who? I've been a warhammer fan for over 14 years and have previously played Dark Heresy (sort of a cousin to Only War which shares the mechanics) for around 3 so I'm rather familiar with the game and world (also have a copy of the in-universe infantryman's primer kicking around somewhere). I have some GMing experience having previously run a Star Trek adventures game earlier this year, but as always I'm looking to improve. When? The best time for me would be Saturday evenings (7pm/8pm start time GMT) or during the day, although playing during the week might also be possible. Sessions would likely be 3-4hrs in length. How Long? I'm currently considering running for around a month and see how things are looking from there. War Calls, Will You Answer!? Looking for relaxed players happy to wade through knee-deep mud on patrol, take time to paint kill-markers on their tank or ride in the back of an APC while artillery falls around them, praying to the god-emperor to deliver them safely to the enemy. Knowledge of the world and the game is not required since most Imperial citizens know little beyond their homeworld safe for propaganda. If you're interested let me know and feel free to ask if you have any questions ;)
