A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream. You see you would need to cross the stream to enter the cave.   As the party crosses the cold 2 feet deep stream and nears the cave mouth they see an opening in the briars and head for it. Next thing they know 3 arrows come flying out from the briars area! One each on Gerjio, Arnie and Vin!   Vin was the only one surprised and did not get a dexterity save to dodge the arrow. Arnie & Gerjio, make their dexterity saves and dodge the flying arrows!   An Arrow strikes Vin from Goblin #1 when he fired his shortbow, causing 4 damage and dropping Vin!   Initiative Rolls are made and Round 1 of Combat begins!   Wuth, hits for 11 damage with his Hand Axe, dropping Goblin #01!   Vin, makes the first of 3 Death Save Rolls failing the roll!   Myriandor, hits Goblin #02 with a bolt from his heavy crossbow for 7 damage defeating him!   Arnie, hits Goblin #03 with an arrow from his Long Bow for 9 damage, dropping him!   Myriandor, rolls a successful Medicine skill check on Vin, stopping the bleeding. Vin, is in a coma for 5 turns (50 minutes).   Myriandor rolls a Perception check to search for anything hidden on the goblin bodies but does not find anything more than that they all wear leather armor, have a shield with a maw of jagged teeth painted on it, carry a scimitar and a quiver of arrows with black feathers.   Area Description: On the east side of the stream flowing from the cave mouth, a small area in the briar thickets has been hollowed out to form a lookout post or blind. Wooden planks flatten out the briars and provide room for the now dead guards to lie hidden and watch the area. That is the remainder of what you see at this location when the bodies are searched.   As the party enters the cave mouth a set of uneven stone stairs going up can be seen just a short distance away. They smell the stench of animals here, along with savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greeting your ears! Paco Bedo, goes up the stairs slowly, to meet 3 chained wolves snarling at him when he can see the floor of the room. Paco, notes that the chains are each attached to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.   Paco, rolls an Animal Handling skill check to try and calm the wolves and successes!   Seeing a narrow opening on the opposite end littered with rocks and rubbish, he proceeds slowly past the wolves and goes to the slopping narrow opening to see the shaft rises some 30 feet and notes a wavering light coming from it’s end.   Paco, attempsts to climb up the shaft and an athletics check is successful! He is able to peer into the lit opening to see 2 goblins and a bugbear with a wolf around a campfire. He then climbs back down.   Meanwhile, Vin is placed in the briars, hidden from view, so the party can proceed deeper into the cave.    Gerjio, checks for tracks, along the cave path to the right side of the stream, that heads north, seeing all kinds of goblin, wolves and larger footprints.   They see now that the cave gets dark the deeper they go inside. Wuth carries a hooded lantern so all in the party can see.   Area Description: The stream passage continues up beyond another set of uneven steps ahead, bending eastward as it goes. A waterfall sounds out from a larger cavern somewhere ahead of you.   Making a stealth check here, for everyone moving along the path. Aside of Paco and Myriandor, everyone made a bit of noise, from clanking armor to crunching pebbles, as they hugged the cavern wall and proceeded forward.   Gerjio the Tortle Ranger Says: "Quiet we should listen to see if there is anyone near by archers could be above"   As they inch forword they see: A rickety bridge spans the passage, connecting two tunnels that are 20 feet above the stream.   Rolling for a surprise check Myriandor is surprised as an arrow comes flying at her from the bridge, and it strikes her for 7 damage!   The passage is suddenly filled with a mighty roar, as a huge surge of rushing water pours down from above!   The rushing, roaring water, fills the whole passage! Arnie and Wuth can make dexterity saves to dive into the passage to the west of them, everyone else gets swept away taking 1D6 of bludgeoning damage!   Paco, takes 5, Myriandor takes 4 and Wuth took 6 hit points of damage from being flushed out of the cave!   The rushing water gradually settles back to where it originally was.   Paco, stumbling over the pile of party members, rushes over to Myriandor to heal her and was successful in keeping her alive.   Arnie, whom dodged the rushing wave of water, comes back out of the cave.   Retrieving Vin, from where they hid her in the briars, the party makes the 5 mile hike down the narrow path back to the wagon they left on the side of the Triboar Trail, tied to a tree.   They load Vin, onto the wagon and head for their destination of Phandalin.
Area Description: The rutted track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. More old ruins—crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars—surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town. As you approach, you see children playing on the town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops. Many people look up as you approach, but all return to their business as you go by.   They quickly find Barthen’s Provisions, as it’s near the entrance to the town.   Elmar Barthen Says: "Greetings Folks, I am Elmar Barthen, how my we help you today?"   Arnie the Halfling Fighter Says: "Greetings we have been injured and are looking to have our members rested up and cared to is this something you can offer us"   Elmar Barthen Says: "there is the stonehill travern and there are likely folks there now, there is also the sleeping giant where the redbrands like to hang, if you are an associate of them."   Gerjio the Tortle Ranger Says: "We are also looking to hire some new mercanaries if you have heard about anyone in the area looking for work"   Elmar Barthen Says: "Oh for the injured you may want to see Sister Garaele"   Elmar Barthen Says: "New Mercenaries? well, you could try the stonehill or the sleeping giant"   Elmar Barthen Says: "Do you folks know the Redbrands?"   Arnie the Halfling Fighter Says: "This is the first time I am hearing of the redbrands care to inform me Elma"   Elmar Barthen Says: "The Stonehill has rooms"   Gerjio the Tortle Ranger Says: "Where is stone hill from here"   Elmar Barthen Says: "Let's just say the Redbrands are the town ruffians" ,  "They are troublemakers".   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "Are they here right now?"   Elmar Barthen Says: "Yes they are always here, they live here."   Arnie the Halfling Fighter Says: "So these ruffians what sort of ppl are they poor rich?"   Arnie the Halfling Fighter Lowers my voice and takes a glace around the provisions shop, looking out as we speak on these topics   Elmar Barthen Says: "well, they are not the wealthy type for sure"   Gerjio the Tortle Ranger Says: "And how would one identify these people also how many of them are here"   Elmar Barthen Says: "Easily identifiable they are. They all wear red hooded cloaks"   Oladia: Arnie the Halfling Fighter Says: "Thank you for your information Elmar Could you kindly point us in the direction of the tavern"   Elmar Barthen Says: "The Stonehill is just 3 buildings down from me"   The party leaves the provisions shop, without dropping off the cart and head straight for the Stonehill Tavern.   As the party enters and settles into the place, two others, Oladia the high elf female ranger, and Darmin Stillwater the half-elf wizard,  head outside and have a look at the contents of Gundren’s wagon for themselves.   And that ends the live gaming session for the day until next time!   Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 3 rd  Session for “Lost Mines of Phandelver” 11/09/2019 [1 st  Session start was 10/26/2019]
