Incredibly loud sound out of nowhere?

Issue: An extremely loud sound that comes out of nowhere. It sounds a bit like something went on a really short loop. A mix between the sound of a drill and a doorbell. Continuous and does not stop even when muting the tab - only when muting firefox completely. Only certain players seem to cause it, because the only common source I could find were specific players I was playing with. All sounds and audio transfer disabled on roll 20, including chat bleep & music box. No particular trigger found so far. Sometimes it just starts an hour in, sometimes not at all. Anybody having an idea?

Could be feedback if specific players use a mic and desk speakers. That happens if the mic is to close to the speakers. Is this with the Roll20 audio or have you checked with another program such as discord or skype?

We are playing via Discord and using Roll 20 for maps and rolls. The sound only occurs on roll20. The thing is - I have "I want to broadcast to others" and "I want to receive from others" both on "nothing". Also - no other player can hear it. And it's so loud, it blasts my ears of whenever I forget to mute firefox when playing with those certain players.

Have the GM or Game creator set the audio/video chat options to none so it disables it completely as you are using discord. It still sounds like some type of feedback so eliminating any possible source is a step in the right direction.
We will try that out next session. Thanks!
