Ch. 5: The Adventurers Mingle in the Stonehill Tavern and Learn about the Town and It's Troubles

Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, well anyways as you can see we are in the town of Phadalin now, having visited Barthen's Provisions, without dropping off the cart or telling Barthen why you stopped in. Then you went to your current location in the Stonehill tavern. Oladia, when outside to have a look in the adventurer's wagon at Gundren's supplies. Oladia went outside that should read   Myriandor: I need to heal up before I do anything   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dramin Stillfest: i am assuming i can get weapons here   Darmin Stillwater: do /o   Myriandor: How do heal up from resting?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so let's get underway here and you can start interacting with the folks in the Inn, well i guess it will be a long rest for you guys, you just need a place to stay and you are at an inn! basically just pick up like you are just walking inside as Oladia went out to look in your cart   Myriandor: I'm unconscious hehe so just need to rest then   Darmin Stillwater: oh much money do we start off with?   Kaiden F.: Hmm im looking at a black screen there we go   Dungeon Master (GM): now kaiden? ok ok as to the money i thought the charactermancer would do that for you if not   Darmin Stillwater: yea   Dramin Stillfest: i got it   Dungeon Master (GM): roll a 2d4 * 10 to get your starting gold   Kaiden F.: rolling 2d20 + 10( 16+3 )+10 = 29   Darmin Stillwater: rolling 2d4( 1 +3 ) = 4   Toblen Stonehill: ok so 40 gp ok the bartender sees you all walk in carrying Myriandor inside as Oladia had walked outside.   Kaiden F.: 7     13 Warhammer (Two-Handed)   (+5) ops nvm that still getting familiar with roll20   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "Greetings Folks! Looks like you need some help there! Did the Redbrands rough someone up?!" ok Kaiden, plus i can make weapon macros for you that are more descriptive   Kaiden F.: its alrite for now, dont wanna delay the gameplay, do we talk here or is there a special box for Char speaking   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "You can go see Sister Garaele, for some healing if need be, she's not far from here."   Kaiden F. Like this eh   Dungeon Master (GM): guys you can mingle with the folks here and Toblen just started talking to you!   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Nvm that, what do you have to drink around here?"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard i look around   Toblen Stonehill the Says: "Oh well here is a menu for you"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "Is there a weaponssmith around?"   Toblen Stonehill: you all see the menu?   Dramin Stillfest: yes   Kaiden the Human Paladin Rubs his forehead   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "Yes, that would be Thagren Ironforge, over at the smithy shop across the way"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Just the Cider then if thats the best you have."   Myriandor: Once I'm back will order the Poached Dragon :)   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard I nod   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "Ok, Cider it will be then."   Goes over to get a mug and fills it with cider then brings it over to Kaiden. Then Looks over a Darmin.   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "What can i get for you?"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "So what do you know of the this Job Dramin? Think its really just another supply run?"   Toblen Stonehill: [Myriandor should remember why you are here, but she’s out for a while]   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard lookig at he barkeep i rase my hand and shake my head   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "How much just for the Cider?"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard I turn towards Kaiden   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "Oh, Ok, Not hungry or thristy yet i guess, eh?"

Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "Dont know"   Kaiden F.: Do i already know Myrian?   Toblen Stonehill: [Ok, let's have it the new folks are starting off at the tavern and the old ones tell the new ones the following [You were hired by Gundren, a dwarf fellow to deliver a wagon of supplies here to Barthen and met Gundren and a fellow named Sildar here at the inn.   Kaiden F.: much better some narrative.   Buddy D.: hey yall how are you sorry my comp had updates   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "The way they acted made us think there is more it then transporting a wagon"   Kaiden F.: also maybe those who aren’t in the inn shouldn’t have their tokens there yet?   Toblen Stonehill: No you new fellows are just townsfolks whom frequent this Inn, The others having finished the job of delivering the wagon will be going their own ways, as a new group of adventurers gel together.   Myriandor: Hey Buddy Glad you made it   Toblen Stonehill: everyone you see here in the Inn should be here I removed the 4 that are no longer around since they will no longer be adventuring   Kaiden F.: ah ok i think i get it now   Toblen Stonehill: Hello Buddy! ok so now you know where to go to get some healing and that you are at an inn with rooms   Buddy D.: yes   Myriandor: We were ambushed by a group of dammable Goblins along the way but we took care of them, they wont bother us now   Buddy D.: thank yall   Elsa the Barmaid Says: "[Talking to Paco] What can i get you sir?" She shows the menu to Paco   Buddy D.: mead   Dungeon Master (GM): [Toblen had asked the party about Myriandor and mentioned about a healer]   Elsa the Barmaid Acknowledges, Paco and goes over to Toblen and tells him to pour a Mead   Elsa the Barmaid She walks back over with the mead and places it on the table for Paco   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Kaiden sips his Cider, suprised Toblen hasnt mention the price or taken payment. He doesnt say anything for now."   Elsa the Barmaid Says: "[to Paco] You and your friends here remind me of Daran Edermath, who lives in town here. Are you adventurers?" see the menu Paco??   Darmin Stillwater yup i say loudly   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "What gave it away? The weapons? My chainmail?", then Grins   Buddy D.: yes   Elsa the Barmaid Says: "[to Darmin] Oh cool then!"   Elsa the Barmaid Says: "[to Kaiden] well yes"   Toblen Stonehill The Inn Keeper Says: "So what brings you folks into town? I myself welcome anyone that will deal with the redbrands that are plaguing the town."   Kaiden F.: right i dont think so i think were just bumping into them and joining up   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Nvm my mistake. Cider might be stronger then i thought."   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Brings a drink over to an old miner looking fellow at the bar. The Miner fellow speaks   Paco Bedo.: says, “ Damn redbands, worse than those dag blasted goblins.”   Lanar the Miner Says: "So you all be adventurers? Cool, maybe you can run those orcs off the mining trail, So I can get back to work. The Townmaster might even actually pay for the deed."

Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "What can you tell us about these Redbrands?"   Kaiden F.: Is buddy just watching? Does he have a character here?   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "i guess I was supposed to speak in here"   Lanar the Miner delivers a drink to another customer you hear her say to him something   Kaiden F.: hah thanks, my brains a bit fried after all the D&D reading so anything helps.   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "OOC: i am almost blind and use special software"   Kaiden F.: uhh what?   Lanar the Miner Says: "[to Narth] Here you go Narth, How is your old wound faring? did you have a chance to visit the Shrine of Luck?"   Buddy D.: i was hit by a ied in iraq   Kaiden F.: damn thats rough   Narth the Says: "I did see Sister Garaele, however she was too exhausted to look at it at the time and said to come back another time."   Elsa The Barmaid Says: "[to Narth] Good luck with the wound then. "   Myriandor: [ OOC The party could heal up and go after the Redbrands]   Kaiden the Human Paladin Looks to Darmin   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "fair maiden bar tender, how much is a round of drinks for the whole tavern"   Elsa the Barmaid Says: "18 silvers for a round for all."   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Perhaps we should the the townmaster about those Orcs?"   Freda Says: "[scoffs] A couple of Redbrands came to my shop demanding more blankets. I don't make blankets! It seems they're insisting more and more from every store, harassing everyone - except the Miner's Exchange. Nobody seems to want trouble with Halia Thornton."   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "I agree kaiden "   Dungeon Master (GM): You all see a young fellow, playing around here in the inn, He's ducking under tables and chairs, pretending to sneak around and bumps into Paco. That is inside the inn that picture.   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "excuse you kind fellow"   Pip Stonehill Says: "Oh sorry sir, I'm just playing around, pretending to spy on and hide from the Redbrands"   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "Why would you be spying on the redbrands?" , "You’re so young."   Trilena Stonehill (Wife) Says: "Oh sorry, don't mind my son sir. Those Redbrands are a nasty bunch. The local woodcarver, Thel, Dendrar, stood up to the Redbrands a tenday ago when they came by his shop and leered at his wife. The ruffians then murdered him, grabbed his body and now his wife, daughter, and son have gone missing."   Kaiden F.: Should we make a move Dramin? My Friend Carp Aderleaf and I were playing out in the woods and we were almost caught by redbrands because we found some secret tunnel in the woods."   (From Myriandor):  Is it alright if I just say that Myriandor is healed up and ready to go?   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "tunnel you say"   Pip Stonehill Says: "Yes, indeed a tunnel sir."   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "say, can you show us the location"   (To Myriandor):  well yea after this initial encounter you would all rest up for a day   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "tunnel....lets track it down"   Pip Stonehill Says: "Oh yes I could sir!"   Kaiden F.: Do we know Paco?   Buddy D.: ?   Dungeon Master (GM): [No you do not, this is the first time you have seen Paco, Kaiden]   Toblen Stonehill the Inn Keeper Says: "I will let Pip here show you the tunnel."   Says: "Carp Alderleaf is Qelline's son, The alderleafs have a farm on the southern part of town here."

Kaiden F.: I can’t tell if the adventure is with the tunnel or the orcs, and if i should see the townmaster or wait for Paco to talk to us   Toblen Stonehill: [looks like you have two bits of info here then that could lead to exploring about those things]   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "please show us the way to the tunnel pip"   Pip Stonehill Says, “Oh, cool ok!”   Toblen Stonehill: [For Paco this information is all new to him]   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "im sorry i will back off and wait, i don’t want to step on anyone’s toes"   Dungeon Master (GM): To summarize : You now all know that: 1) Redbrands are terrorizing the town, 2) Orcs are causing a problem for the miners 3) Sister Garaele seems to be a healer 4) Redbrands murdered Thel Dendrar when he stood up to the Redbrands, grabbed his body and now his wife, daughter, and son have gone missing. 5) Pip & Carp know of a secret tunnel the redbrands chased them from   Kaiden F.: Well we dont know Paco, and we have the townmaster is hiring so i guesss   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Lets get a move on then Darmin, we are burning daylight. And i have a need to test my skill against these Orcs, what say you?"   Dungeon Master (GM): [Just a reminder Myriandor will need to rest for a day to get some Hit points back of course, before you all band together and go about your business. Paco and Myriandor still need to drop off the wagon at Barthen's as well. those 4 were with the old group and they are saying, "Yea, we need to drop off the wagon, we want to get paid our 15 gold coins each!"   Darmin Stillwater: Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "just need some knifes and i am good to go"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so do we go to barthen's provisions? or does Kaiden and Darmin try to hook up with Paco and Myriandor, as the others say they are done adventuring after their scare with the goblins.   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "So the blacksmith then? Or are you planning on stealing Toblens Kitchen knives hah!"   Dungeon Master (GM): ha ha!   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "to the blacksmit"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Alright then lets be off."   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "i would love to take back that wagon"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you were told he is just across from the inn   Kaiden the Human Paladin Kaiden puts on his Helmet and proceeds to leave the inn.   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard i get up and start to follow   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "i bounce outta here faster than a bear backed into a bee hive"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok as you two leave the inn you see Oladin rummaging through the cart, trying to look busy like it's his cart the old gang goes outside and sees Oladia in the cart   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "what the dern nation are you doing? [to oladia]"   Myriandor: Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Whatcha doing with our cart?"   Oladia: Oladia: Says: "Sorry, I'll just go about my way [Heads back into the Inn"   Dungeon Master (GM): myriandor should be laying in bed right now! heh   Kaiden the Human Paladin Watches the transaction with interest   Dungeon Master (GM): let just say Paco says that to Oladia, and the reaction is like, "Oh well, I guess i was just curious, what you folks brough into town."   Dramin Stillfest: do i enter the blacksmith   Dungeon Master (GM): ok let's do Barthen's provisions first then the smithy   Dramin Stillfest: doesnt paco need to heal>   Oladia: he has 1 hp so yea but he can walk ok myriandor is going to have to play as paco here a bit as myri knows more of what has happened and why you are here   Buddy D.: ok   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Roxxi take it from here   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "Hello Foks, Back again I see, what can i do for you?"   Paco Bedo "Hey, We have a wagonload to deliver and get paid for."   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "I see, and whom may this wagon load be from?"   Paco Bedo: [Forgot the name but Myri would know]   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "Ah yes, Gundren and Sildar, you say, they were supposed to be in town yesterday come to think of it." Says: "You can just pull the wagon inside and I will take it from there for Gundren when he finally gets here."   Paco Bedo "Guess their late, but, Do you have our money for it?"   Paco Bedo: [Party wheels the wagon inside]   Elmar Barthen the Shop Keeper Says: "I am afraid you will need to see Gundren about your pay. Gundren and Sildar were supposed to arrive ahead of you all."  

Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Are you buying those Daggers or Making them Darmin "   Dungeon Master (GM): [You all are to eventually be given 15 gp each]   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "right, once ur business is done, i would like 2 daggers"   Dungeon Master (GM): checking if Barthen's has daggers   Paco Bedo: [Great good thing Myri is not here hehe be roughing people up to get paid]   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "You can go over to the smithy to see about daggers"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard i nod   Elmar Barthen the Says: "Gundren brothers Nundro and Tharden are camped somewhere outside of town and I have not seen them in a tenday, but expect them to return any day now to meet back up with Gundren and retrieve the supplies you delivered here."   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "Anything more I can do for you folks?"   Myriandor: [OOC So we have another possible quest now Go see about Gundren's brothers]   Elmar Barthen: uh huh   Myriandor: [Gots to get paid hehe]   Elmar Barthen the Shop Owner Says: "business here has been a bit slow lately no thanks to the redbrands making it hard on everyone in town. They are shaking down local businesses and flouting the townmaster's authority."   [anything more from the folks while here at the provisions shop?] [if not we move to the smithy]   Dramin Stillfest: just get the 2 daggers for me, i gots to eat   Dramin Stillfest: shouldnt be more than 15   Myriandor: Nope going back to the Inn Resting up saying good bye hehe   Kaiden F.: Leaving Myrian?     Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "why"   Thagren Ironforge the Blacksmith Says: "Hello there, what can i do for you fellows?"   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "?" wtf   Myriandor: No saying bye to the old party who want a safer life   Kaiden F.: ah 15 mins is quite long, and i think were still at the starting zone after an hour. How long do you think this will take?   Myriandor: We cant get paid now so rest up and go find his brothers to get paid   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you are in the smithy looking for daggers i assume   Thagren Ironforge the Blacksmith Wait for his potential customers to say something Says: "Need a sword? Armor repaired? New horseshoes for your horse?"   Thagren Ironforge: Darmin, are you saying anything to the smithy i though you needed daggers here?   Kaiden F.: he went to eat   Thagren Ironforge: ok   Kaiden F.: yeaaaa   Dungeon Master (GM): so back let's just say you got the daggers and go back to the tavern, the party rest up and it's the Next Day now.   Kaiden F.: yea lets do that   Dungeon Master (GM): So from here you all need to decide on what to do going forward.   Kaiden F.: well its complicated, im with dramin and buddy is with myriandor what if we both go different directions? so far theres nothing tying use together   Dungeon Master (GM): well then either one of you can offer to join together as a group and take if from there on what bit of info to look into   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "I want to get our pay, but, if we dont take care of these Redbrands no one will have any money"   Dungeon Master (GM): my advice is to continue going about town mingling with the townsfolks, or acting on what Pip told you about the tunnel.   Kaiden F.: He wasnt talking to us so we wouldnt know   Dramin Stillfest: i will add 2 daggers to my inv   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dramin Stillfest: how much gold should i remove   Myriandor: Myriandor sees the others at the Inn "Hey You guys want to pair up with Paco and me?"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "That seems logical"   Kaiden F.: Lol Myriandor just goes out and say it at least that settles that   Myriandor: Cuts through the BS get to the point   Kaiden F.: yea thanks, though again maybe you should use Say-Something so we arent confused   Dungeon Master (GM): hmm had trouble whispering to Kaiden: you can of course go visit the townmaster to see what he has to say   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Whats the job?"   Dungeon Master (GM): I'll look into the dagger prices later

ok you guys need to discuss what course of action you want to look into from here   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "We have a few jobs, one is scout around outside of town, find his brothers so we can get our pay for the wagon, the other jobs are Orcs bothering the miners and the gang the Redbrands bothering the townsfolk"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "we go for the orc"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Hmm, the Orcs would seem like the bigger problem, and whats in it for us for helping you get your pay from this brother?"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "it will get us rep and gold"   Paco Bedo: I am about getting gold   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Agreed, we might help you with the search after" Says: "If we are paid for our trouble, what do you think Darmin?"   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "I am about getting gold and experience with my ranger skills."   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Alright, Orcs the gang redbrands, both will probably get us some money, so, sure"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "agreed"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Right we deal with the Orcs first, lets get a move on."   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Heres a thought the redbrands might know about the Orcs, maybe take care of the gang first?"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "well what is the lesser evil?"   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "yeah"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "I wouldnt take stock on anything thieves and murderers say."   Dungeon Master (GM): ha ha!   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "But who are we to judge, when know not of their circumstances "   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Probably the redbrands their just shaking down the townsfolk"   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "nothing more than just thugs"   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard shrugs   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Make the town safe then go after the Orcs"   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "You can have a chat with them later then, ask them to start being nice, we can watch and see how that turns out."   Dungeon Master (GM): heh, yea, going after them now might mean a TPK!   Kaiden F.: TPK?   Myriandor: Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "My way of chatting tends to hurt people"   Dungeon Master (GM): Total Party Kill   Paco Bedo: total party kill   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "At least the Tiefling seems to her head screwed on right." Says: "Who agrees we should go after the Orcs, say Aye."   Paco Bedo: orcs   Darmin the Half-Elf Wizard Says: "Aye"   Myriandor the Tiefling Fighter Says: "Sure Orcs first"   Dungeon Master (GM): So looks like the party will look into the orcs first?   Myriandor: Yes   Dungeon Master (GM): alright then   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "And you Paco? "   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "aye"   Kaiden F.: technically you guys never gave us your names lol   Dungeon Master (GM): I need to look up the information and see what i can give you regarding them as to where the townsfolks would send you   Paco the Elf Ranger Says: "hey yall my names paco"   Myriandor: [Myriandor gave you Paco not her name]   Kaiden the Human Paladin Says: "Right, im Kaiden and this here is Darmin.
