[Weekly Downtime Thread][Spring II 1524 HC]

Please post any of your downtime activities below. You can find the full rules for downtime here . You can find last week's downtime thread here .
Down Time: Darvius Alandre  Darvius uses the next 24 days focusing on his training and development, he offers to spar with various members of the Cohort Arcanum. He spends most of his waking hours developing and practicing various techniques as taught to him by his mentor (He is leveling up to level 3 in Monk and his Sub Class will be the way of the Open Hand). In what spare time he has he spends in the library of the Arcanum studying up on the Primordial Gods, specifically the Leviathan searching for any previous history of people being changed into fish like creatures, and if there is a way to cure the curse that is placed on them.
Wishing to continue his training (To level 3) Ayoval will continue his usual work as a herald of the dying and recently deceased, visiting elderly and sick who are bound for the other side performing rituals to guide their spirit to the god they worship. This ceremony usually consists of his ivory masks being carved and small bells being engraved and rang all marked with the deity one wishes to serve after life. Ayoval while doing this tries to hone his ability to channel spirits, attempting to carve a stronger bond between the dead and their deity. An ancient tradition of the Order of the Herald is to visit nearby crypts or cemeteries and guide any lost or lingering souls to their rightful rest. Young children and those not bound to a deity tend to mull about near their body due to their lack of connection, in these cases they are sent to any remaining family, to their ancestors, or are accepted by the Acolyte to receive any power they can lend. Ayoval in hopes of strengthening his connection to the lost conducts his rituals assisting as many wandering ones that he may, slowly he learns better ways to persuade spirits to join his cause.  In response to his last mission and his worry about the cult gaining too much traction in his spare time Ayoval will take the robes the party found in the basement and the dagger that Thariun found on the altar and ask the Arcanum to spare a priest with protection from good and evil in case something evil lies within them while he speaks to the spirits within the objects. He will ask the following questions; Who is the owner of each object, what do they look like, and what their name is? Does the owner change forms from human to fishman? How many fish men are there? Who were the first members of the cult? What happens during their rituals? How long has the cult been active? Ayoval not having time to do the research himself would ask the Arcanum if they could spare a scholar or if he could hire one to find more detailed information about the symbol on the robe (Books on Leviathan or Sea gods), the statue of the goddess (Sea Goddesses and Corruption of Holy sites), and the blood pit. (Transmutation, Blood Magic) Ayoval would comprehend languages and decipher the documents taken from the cult or see if another at the Arcanum could do so if he does not have the time.  Looking to add to his utility Ayoval will seek out the mage hall and look for one who can teach him Find Familiar, although he does not cast the spell himself he needs an understanding of the spell so that he may carve the corresponding runes into one of his bells so that it may have the desired effect when the soul lends its power.
Agatha spends her time close to her sister, trying to keep an eye on her and see if any more changes are happening. During this time she also practices her magic and learns a new protective spell that will make it harder for her enemies to hit her. (She levels up and becomes a level 2 Sorcerer learning the Shield spell.) Between watching over her sister and practicing there is not much time for anything else, so she takes the opportunity to hide away from people and rest as much as she can.
Prudence has decided that during her downtime she will fully embrace the heart she was given in the forest. She will also spend time tuning in to nature and the magic of nature. Finding within herself nature's potential to change she unlocks the ability to change her own form. (Leveling up and learning wild shape) Prudence will also spend time trying to tune herself to the feywild having been affected by that meeting in the forest. (She joins the Druid Circle of Dreams, and gains the blessing of the Summer Court) The rest of her time she will spend with her sister.
Thariun spends 24 days training his abilities to get stronger (level up).  He is very disappointed that he was not strong enough to protect the village and says he wants to be able to return soon to help rectify his mistakes (though I think he is actually quite shaken by what he say).  Thariun would do some sparring with Darvius if asked, but would focus on his weapons training.
Tarkus will be spending his free time performing in taverns and halls to rousing cheers as he continues to improve his performance, even with the loss of left arm, this just seems to spur   him on to even greater heights, not just in performance in everything he can learn from other members of The Cohort Arcanu, One in particular was able to teach him the spell Unseen servant, very useful now he finds it a pain to get dressed. however he was unable to cast it in its original form.     So whilst in his room late at night with a stiff drink in spectral hand and a sleeping figure in his bed, he writes an new Song about his recent venture to convert the magic to his own and he called it.... The Dwerren , two Sisters and a cripple Oh, my dear, what do you fear On this cold and draughty night  Oh, my dear, what do you fear The wolves that howl and bite But Oh, my dear Have no fear For the danger is near and it's Asking for beer its The Dwerren, Diesa we cheer   Oh, my dear, or so I hear  Her eyes can skin you alive  Oh my dear or so I hear  That shes just here to connive  But oh my dear  It's not what you hear and if your sincere She will always Appear on this Frontier It's Agatha so we'll cheer    Oh, my dear, a volunteer to scout ahead and survive Oh, my dear, a volunteer With her, nature will thrive But oh, my dear The volunteer  's Becoming a dear  and it's not rely clear  but it's Prudence so we'll cheer  Oh, my dear, what do we have here It's obvious, you can see  Oh, my dear, what do we have here I'm am truly Hanner Sidhe But oh my dear There no Jester here  for I'm a pioneer and If it wasn't clear  I'm Tarkus and so we'll cheer  Lute and tap dance solo to finish
Diesa Gemfire Location: Diesa spends her time at the Halls of Cohort Arcanum off the coast of Muden. Training: After her more successful second expedition to Newyth Diesa is slightly less concerned with her physical conditioning and instead spends more time pondering the strange abyssal dream imparted on her and thinking on the necromantic shards recovered on the adventure. This leads her thoughts towards the topic of magic and matters eldritch and so she returns to the stacks to learn more on the subjects - finding that the tomes and scrolls are not quite so impenetrable as she might have thought. After a number of days of study she manages to tap into the mebhaighl for the first time and delightedly begins further practice and experimentation - even finding ways to enhance her martial prowess. (Taking 3rd Level in Fighter and picking up the Eldritch Knight archetype)
Orithar Trisk,   Location:  Library. Reading. Research and study.  Training:  Learning new methods, spells. Investigation into anatomical mutation through magic. Case studies. Recorded events of change. Preforming small testing on animals and plants.  Research into materials and their properties. Rumours of items or magic pacts and bonds. Means not important, results are. Expanding spells knowledge and application. Try to converse with some who shares common interests and talents. And glimpsing when the moment is right, when in private quarters.
Korak, spends the rest of his week praying to his god and sparring in intense combat while contemplating the poor townsfolk and his inability to protect them with his current power forcing him forward with much more enthusiasm than his usual sessions.  He also takes the white feather to the guild using identify on it to discern its properties and then giving it to the Arcanum as it may be important in time to come. If the giant winged beast ever becomes a problem it may have some way of quelling the beast or effecting it in some way.
Teresa would be staying at the Cohort, writing a personal account of her mission for her sister when she next sees her, restocking her arrows and reviewing her adventuring notes as she trains to make sure she can save more people next time. For research she'd like to study the curse mark Gretchen had, looking probably specifically at how to remove curses and more broadly about the specific mark itself and what it means. If possible she'd also like to ask the Kallannon, or another high-ranking member of the Cohort about the last mission her sister was on, or where she was last known to be travelling to.
Important Note: As a reminder players only get one main downtime action each week. This is something like leveling up, learning a language, or doing research. Obviously a character can do other things for RP reasons, write letters, or take other minor actions. I will try to respond to these as best as I can, but I can't promise I will always be able to. The reason for this is to 1. make downtime manageable for me as a DM, and 2. make the decisions on what you do with your downtime important. Obviously leveling up will likely be most people's number 1 priority, but as you gain levels there will be more and more time between levels to do other things. With that out of the way lets get started with this week's downtime! Darvius You train during your downtime, and hone your skills to the point where you feel you have improved. Congrats on level 3! You spend some of your downtime doing research, but as of yet you haven't managed to crack anything. Ayoval You spend time practicing, learning, and growing your powers Ayoval. Over the course of the month you manage to level up! Who is the owner of each object, what do they look like, and what their name is? -  Doesn't Know Does the owner change forms from human to fishman? - No How many fish men are there? - Doesn't Know Who were the first members of the cult? - Doesn't Know What happens during their rituals? - Stab How long has the cult been active? - Doesn't Know You discover that if you want to do research you will need to do it yourself. Other members of The Cohort are all busy completing their own quests, and chasing their own goals. You can indeed find someone willing to share the knowledge of Find Familiar with you. The man asks for a charge of 50gp for the rental in addition to the 50gp you will need in special materials to add the spell to your repertoire. Agatha You spend time watching over your sister, and growing you powers. Congrats on reaching level 2! Prudence You embrace the heart, and find your deer-like features slowly increasing over the course of days and weeks. Eventually you awake to find your lower half has changed completely into the form of a deer. In addition to gaining second level you also gain the Alseid template! Alseid Template +2 Dexterity, +1 Wisdom Your base movement speed is now 40 ft. You are still medium sized, but are quadrupedal. This means you count as a large creature for the purpose of carrying capacity. Hoofed Feet . You now have hoofed feet. You may gain disadvantage on certain checks such as stealth checks while walking on hard materials. You may also have difficulty performing certain activities like climbing ladders. In other scenarios you may not find yourself impeded as much by certain terrain such as snow. All benefits and drawbacks are left to the DM's discretion. Woodfriend. When in a forest, alseid leave no tracks and automatically discern true north. Sylvan: You learn the Sylvan language of the Alseids if you did not already know it. Be aware your new form may bring reverence from some, and disdain from others. Thariun You spend some time training, and learning. You level up, congrats! Tarkus You play your tunes in the halls of The Cohort Arcanum, practicing with just a single arm. You melody touches the hearts of everyone around you, but it's not to the same cadence as it once was. Congrats on the level up! Diesa You begin studying the arcane tomes, and lore. You start learning the magics of the land, but you will need more time to come into your own. Level up into eldritch knight week 1 of 3. See Experience Points and Advancement for more information on this. Orithar Orithar, you spend many nights reading over old tomes, and scrolls by candlelight. The nights drag on long, and at times you aren't certain you are improving. Yet in the depths of one session everything clicks, and you suddenly find your abilities expanded! Korak Your contemplation breeds results, and slowly you begin to expand your understanding of both the world, and your abilities. The white feather you manage to identify as something with healing properties. You think that if you stabbed someone with it you would get a similar result to that of a Potion of Healing. Teresa Your time researching in the libraries breeds some moderate results. You don't discover the nature of the curse, but you do find the mark reappearing in various tomes, and books. It's the mark of an thieves' guild known as Beauty, but also the mark of an ancient long dead monster from The Shadow World known as The Beholder. The Kallanon tells you that the last he saw of your sister she was traveling to some place called Morrendeep. He has no clue where it was, or why she was going there.
