[Weekly Downtime Thread][Fall III 1524 HC]

Please post any of your downtime activities below. You can find the full rules for downtime here . You can find last week's downtime thread here. Always remember to be specific about what downtime action you are taking! If you're leveling up type that in your post labeled as OOC! If you're looking into an item be specific about where that item is from, what mission, when you got it, who from, etc. If you tell me "I read that book I found" I am going to likely have no clue what you are talking about. If you are learning a language, or tool make sure to write down how many weeks you have been practicing! This lowers the DC, and gives advantage depending on the number of weeks. Also a reminder players only get one main downtime action per week.

Diesa Gemfire Location: Halls of the Cohort Arcana, Isle of Fabrica Following the last mission she was on Diesa returns to the Cohort in a more brooding mood than ever before and rarely leaves her room at first, until she hears that Teresa is looking to head to Morrendeep again soon. Research: Remembering that coutnering the Medusa's petrification is well beyond the level of magic she is capable of, instead Diesa considers the other danger of the Medusa, her apparant skill within a bow and how it might be countered within Morrendeep and its corridors. She begins researching for methods to hinder her arrows and knock them aside if they should encounter her again and so searches through the library's magical sections, specifically evocation and anything to do with wind. (Trying to find and learn the spell 'Wind Tunnel', a level 1 evocation spell from Midgard Heros Handbook, I can afford the 50gp cost to add it to my spellbook) Galena Abanâ Location: Port Helen, the Siren's Realm - Lifestyle: Comfortable Galena takes the next available trip back to the Siren's realm and tells the Siren all about the things she learned from Larmendylth, about the Sisters of the Coven, the trick of the mithril mirror to see through their illusions and also about the assault on the Hag's fortress and the alliance between the Hag and the Red Dragon and the kobolds. She also tells the Siren about Mynnir the Cute Dragon. And Galena shows the Siren the reflective mithril bangle that Korak made and offers its use to tracking down whatever sister of the coven might be operating in the city. Training: Galena also expresses a lot of interest in stories and lore, fascinated by the information she got from the Silver Dragon, and considers that perhaps the world doesn't just influence the stories that come of it, but that the stories influence the world back. Not just in that they inspire people and such but actually affect the world. The weight of enough belief tugging on the mebhaighl, like a wizards spell . She starts talking with the Siren about her ideas about magic and asking about the power Jerusha wields or wielded. (Estimating enough XP to attain level 4, therefore starting to multiclass into Bard, Downtime 1/3) Other: During some free time Galena takes news and letters down to Port Helen's jail and reads them out to Orithar in his cell, chats with him and writes down letters he would like to send.

Darvius will spend his days helping the cohort prepare for battle. He will send word to all the provinces that he holds favor and renown asking them for whatever aid they can give against the threat of the primordial and its forces. Specifically Bleak Holm, Gresmuhl, hjolvar, Drachenward, and aiding Korack with the Hjovar pegasi.I He will also write up his last will believing the times growing extremely dangerous. Prudence Duskhart Location: Bardenhold Abbatour, Roesone After what happened with the alseids and her sister, Prudence needs some time where she knows there is good forest and a friendly face. She wants to make sure that the place is still running as it should, the forest is still being replanted and sustainably logged. Wanting to make sure the lumberjacks are happy as well. She'll make sure that the taxes are well managed and collected but also fair.  Meditation: Prudence will spend almost every night in the courtyard, lying in the grass under moonlight when weather permits, meditating and trying to figure out what Maeyra the Firbolg Druid meant with the moon.  Portia Folkor Location: Cohort Halls, Island of Fabrica Portia will spend her time in the tavern buying Ant a round of drinks after news of the crabs being slaughtered come through. Upon hearing of the Primordial and the call to arms she gets very excited at the prospect to do something so great, and knowing the dangers of the mission writes a will and makes it official. Upon my death, I leave all my wealth and armour to my parents in, Moon Port, Medoere. Willben and Nimh Folkor. They are to be delivered with the letter I have written. I leave my sword to Ant however, he could take better care of it than my parents.  - Signed Portia Folkor. She also writes an actual more personal letter to her parents to be delivered with her effects in case of her death.

Dragomir the Black Location:  Urkenhame – Modest Living Drago will be staying in the city after returning from Mount Acron. During his time, he will go back to studying under Larmendylth wing, showing her Eloéle's Dice he got and taking two flight breaks a day. He makes a real effort to say her name correctly. During his stay, he has got it into his head that the Queen Freya of Urkenhame might have a thing for Korak and will be dropping Korak name into conversations, just like a 15-year-old boy playing matchmaker. However, when word from the Cohort arrives about the current situation regarding primordial god on the verge of release Drago will say his goodbyes to all the people he has gotten to know, lastly to Larmendylth. His attitude when saying his goodbye has lost his carefree nature and appears generally scared and nervous. “Hey Sil..” Stopping himself midsentence  “La.. Larmendylth. I’ve got to get back to the Cohort, something serious has happened. If the worst happens when I’m gone, can I be buried here, in Urkenhame? I would like to think of this place like as a home, if that’s alright? My mam died before I could remember her face, and I never knew my dad. So, growing up in my village I was kept to the side. Aye, they weren’t mean, just everyone liked to keep me at a distance ya know. Gave me food and a small shed and I helped the best I could but I’m pretty sure they didn’t want me around. Well... I really like this place, I mean we didn’t get off on the right foot, That kind of happens a lot for me, but I like it here and well.. it would be nice to think I now have a home to fight for. Not even a primordial god can take that from me right?” OOC: Heart to heart with Larmendylth about the task ahead. Spending all my renown on this if possible 31.  Orithar Trisk Location:  Stuck in Jail but enjoys  Galena company. Orithar looks honesty shocked to see anyone visit yet alone try so hard to get him released. Orithar asks  Galena  to send a message to explain he would help but currently unable to do so due to a misunderstanding.  Nubby Oddling Location : Cohort Ship Will offer his services for the ship working for the Cohort. Working free in exchange for learning how to sail a ship. Tying the masts, rigging e.c.t. OOC: Skill training in Water Vehicles.   Siegfried Morton   Will used his 5 Renown with Daikhar Zhigun to ask for aid in the upcoming battle against the primordial.   Fenris Nathair   Will send a message home, to his old Scout Captain in Lluabraight about the Gorgon corruption of Wierech Forest and to be on the watch out on their boarder. Detailing the Alseid’s  current Involvement.
Shango Bayu While Shango will keep his mental up, the looming threat of the aspect released during his travels still takes a toll on him, as he is not seen drinking anything at all during his free time. He will train and prepare for the coming battle, hoping to feel the winds elevate him to a new level of martial prowess. While every fiber of his body tells him that he should run off, he knows that his name will be forever remembered as a stain rather than a namesake. So he steels his resolve, hoping for the best. Shango will also ask Korak Flomhelm to give him a revival tattoo worth 300 gold, enough for a second chance at life. He will note Darvius Alandre as his inheritor. Robert Bossouri Robert will spend his time praying to Nesirie, in hopes that her divine blessings may be granted on the adventurers who go forth in battle to seal the aspect of Solaria away. He will pray for their health and morale, so that their wounds may be few and their will strong as iron. When he isn't praying, he will bring Mynnir to Abbatour to introduce her to Agatha and Prudence, as he's sure that the two will love the little creature. He will of course do his best to make sure that Mynnir is not instantly overwhelmed. Eirena Lightshadow Eirena will spend her time attuning to her hexblade curse and gain a level in Warlock. While the call for arms that has been issued intrigued her, she wishes not to join, as she has several matters she wishes to be alive to attend to, including finding a way to cure Savas' ratification, the Tosculi troubles and finding out, whose cursed weapon it is she is taking some of her powers from.

Devamora Jadeguard:  Will spend her time praying to Moradin to watch over those that will fight the primordial aspect, and to grant her the power to do so herself if she is able to join the battle. (OOC: Hopefully levelling to 3, assuming enough exp gain from mission) Cordelia Woodwytch: Having somewhat returned to her usual self, Cordie spends some time researching fun spells she can copy into her book. She'll search the Cohort library for ritual spells, since those are the only ones she can copy, and start off with the books on illusion spells. (OOC: Attempting to research the Magic Mouth spell and copy it into her book, spending gold to do so if she successfully researches it) Teresa Eirwen:  Teresa makes her way to Baruk-Azhik with the funds obtained from the sale of the adamantine hammers. She will pay 1000 gp to Fovugar Hillfeet at her forge, and work with her on designing a commission piece. Ingund:  Figuring she might well die if she joins in the battle against Solaria's Aspect, Ingund writes up a will. She wishes for all of her gold to go to whoever ends up with Runa, who should be given the chance to look through current Cohort members and choose who she would like to accompany. If she doesn't find anyone suitable that agrees to take her, she should be brought back Wachtauchericht, in Mjollinar, Grevesmuhl.

Korak:      With the news of the primordial being released he is somewhat disheartened, feeling that if he had just killed that bird when he first met it this all could have been avoided. After praying to Moradin and steeling his resolve he decides to pass the time pursuing his craft. In preparation for war he grabs his forge tools and begins to look into fixing his Adamantine hammer that was damaged by the ooze the group in Morrendeep came across. (-1 to hit) He inspects the weapon thoroughly and attempts to use his repair metal spell at level 2 (1d8+5 object hp) and see if he can make any progress on fixing the weapon. If repairing by skill or by spell is not possible he will at least try to determine the cost of fixing the damage.   Item: Good Quality Adamantine Warhammer (Reduced to Average Quality by Gelatin Damage) (+0 to hit, +2 damage, +2 lbs weight)     He writes a will stating that Drago if the boy survives will get his things and if it comes to the worst they be given to Drachenward as thanks. He also preemptively writes an apology letter to the King of Baruk Azik for failing his mission that was given to him in the event of his death. He uses sending once again to relay a message to the Hjolvar Pegusai      The Primordial Solaira ravages Hjolvar, the Cohort will come to help. I would like to meet with you (Location, x days), we request your aid. Lastly upon returning to the Cohort he will give special revivify tattoos to members going on the mission who want them or a mundane version of the cohort symbol pinning down the image of Solaria as a mark of honor for any who decide to go onto the mission.  Hedrin:  The boy asks master Exaban to help him forcefully train his magic switching invisibility spell for earthbind in preparation for the great battle. (Trying to trade spells out of leveling up as sorcerer) Lolgon: Week 2 learning sign language. And prepping for the great battle.      He writes letters to queen of Bin Sada and asks the Sirens court if they would be willing to aid him or the cohort in any way explaining the situation the cohort is in and his fear of anything being left in this world if they were to fail.  Gundle:      Also going to train in water vehicles alongside his "Brother".
Upon returning to the Cohort, Cedrych Brightbough spends his time familiarizing himself with the lay of the Isle, carefully building a mental map of the surroundings as well as the Cohort's compound. As surreptitiously as he can, he notes the comings and goings of Cohort members; when they leave, and for where. What they carry with them. What members spend their downtime doing. Which ones drink, which abstain. He also takes a long, hot bath at the local bathouse. If there is a barber available, he purchases a haircut and hot-towel shave. If not, he spends an afternoon carefully grooming himself. OOC: Assuming Cedrych receives the XP needed to gain a level in Rogue, he does so.
Mamm Mamm and Nim will leave to visit Nim's parents in Braethindyr, to ask them if Mamm can adopt Nim. On the way, Nim will try to teach Mamm Sidhewair. Word of the Primordial will trouble Mamm, however she intends to keep her promise to Teresa, and go with her to Morrendeep. ( Learn language: Sidhewair ) Ant Ant will spend time drinking with Portia. Upon the news of the primordial, Portia being very eager to help with the fight, Ant will seek to join the fight as well, to try and redeem himself after feeling partially responsible for the death of all those crabs. Also, he'd like to keep an eye on Portia, make sure she survives her glorious moment. Ant will prepare for the upcoming fight by training intensively. Ant will, like Portia, write a will just in case. Asking for him and his belongings to be buried at sea in the case of his death, with the exception of his gold and his insignia necklace, which he'd leave to Portia. ( leveling up to level 4 )

Agatha will go with her sister to Roesone, but will instantly leave as soon as she picks up Emily and bring her with to visit Dietric. She is going to find the largest library in the area where he lives, in the hopest of it having information on Defilus. She will try to find out more about her patron, giving Emily some drawing supplies so she is not bored in the library while Agatha does her research. (Research: Defilus) Nim is going to return home to Braethindyr with Mamm to convince her family to let her be Mamm's daughter instead. On the way to Braethindyr she will try to teach Sidhewair to Mamm. (She will leave 100GP for her poor family in hopes of getting her parents in a good mood so they will allow her to be adopted.)  (No major action) Lynette  will retire. She realised she was not ready for the harsh world and wanted to return to her safe home. (Retiring)

Bellasaar  will travel to Urkenhame to find a teacher for their local language. [OOC: blanking on the name at this time] Drake  will attempt to look for a way to reverse the rat features. Varis  will (most likely) level up. [Update:] Drake will retire from the Cohort to research the rat infection. Veit Silentbeard will join him in the studies (OOC: he hasn't been played yet, but I mostly won't play him anytime soon)
Marlmo Marlmo will travel around the island, mostly tapping trees and listening for sound from them.  As he wanders, if he spies an Oak Man or shrine to Eric he will introduce himself, curious if these Oaks are like the one that came to the Goblincairns.  Curious now about crabs, Marlmo would then describe to these Oaks the creature he saw, and whether they had, "Been eaten by Man, or if the Land should eat Man"  in this situation.  Dwelling on the answer he receives, Marlmo will continue tapping trees and listening to the lands the sit upon. OOC: Marlmo would like to train, if this is appropriate for the xp he has gained. Hafr Hafr, now more unsure as to the profitability of this new employment, hopes to find some side benefits, or supplementary income considering the failing of the mission he was on.  However, until an opportunity offers itself up Hafr will think on the name Silver gave him, and continue practice with his bow. OOC: Hafr searches for those on the island that are interested in procuring items of value, and where these might be along with training to gain a level. Rvannûn Heartened by both a successful hunt, and learning more of the dangers of the waste, Rvannûn searches for a place to continue honing his skills. OOC: Rvannûn will continue to train, and seeks another party that will travel to the wastes again, hopefully one that can afford to travel with sled and water, or possibly a pack beast

Jannis:  Jani will spend the week honing his martial prowess on the practice field as well as reviewing tactics and strategy in the Arcanum library (Level up). Roland:  Continues to be a layabout at the Cohort, thinking about his next move now that he has both the Winter Witches and The Mammoth Warrioro of Urkenhame hunting him. Savas:  Savas finds time to sneak away from his post in the sewers of Hollingholmen to write and send a missive to Eirena Lightshadow at the Arcanum. "Eirena, I have continued my surveillance of the Rat King and his minions.  I'm unable to determine if the Rat King himself is some sort of natural horror or a form of awnshegh, but it is clear to me that he is able to draw full magic from the area.  Whether this is because he controls the ley line or there is some other force at work I do not know.  The rats are also continuing their excavation of more tunnels, and this activity seems to increase the level of magic in the area slightly.  What the correlation between the two is, I know not. I've also become more aware of how my current state has affected me...  I no longer have the same strength I did as a man, though I have inherited some of the nimbleness of their race.  My sense of smell is greatly enhanced, something I wish I did NOT have living in a sewer...  I've also lost some of my resolve, finding myself occasionally jumping at shadows in the dark... and I fear that if the Rat King were to find my true nature and focus his magic on me, I would have a hard time resisting. The Rat King's Army continues to grow, and the King of the surface continues his narcissistic feasting and blundering.  If help does not come soon, I shall face my fate and return to the Arcanum, most likely to remain in this form forever.  I miss your sweet face...  the angel who stood by my side while others fled.  If we do not see each other again, I ask that you remember my face as I was, and not the creature I have become.  Yours, Savas"

Brognir : Will spend his time with some Shepard and sheep to try and understand the Path of the sheep better. He will expose himself to the elements to toughen himself up. (Brognir is leveling up to Barbarian lvl2) Phage : Will spend he time in a graveyard and praying. Will try to find a place sacred to her god and seek knowledge. Will spend 20gp on a sheep to sacrifice and hope it pleases her God. (Phage will level up to cleric lvl4)
Ingram : Hearing that the Primordial has become free, steels himself to help. He decides to go with Korak to meet with the Pegasi to ask for help, but urges Korak to only ask for one Pegasus to help him and to leave the Mama Pegasus out of the fight saying "we can't risk ending'em all." On the way there, he continues to practice his magic and study new spells. Before leaving, he writes a Will that states that all in case of his death, all of his worldly possessions be sold and given to the Cohort to build a magical workshop and forge that is to be made available to future Cohort members. He hopes to have a safe space for new Wizards to practice and craftspeople to create. OOC: Ingram will use his Renown to help Korak with the Pegasi. Hopefully, he can also level up to 3 (fighter 1/wizard 2) Ezren : His travel back from his community on the edge of Sielwode was delayed and has just returned to the Cohort. He's angry at himself for missing the mission regarding the Tosculi but swears to be of service however he can on their next foray.
Zolis: will spend his second week looking for carpentry work using his proficiency in Carpenter’s Tools. Theq: will spend his week going to a few funerals to observe the way other cultures pay respect to the cycle of life. OOC: leveling up to cleric 2.

Diesa Diesa manages to find the spell she was looking for. Galena The Siren shows Galena the power of voice, and how it can manipulate the world. She "cuts" some firewood into pieces by releasing her voice. She isn't much one for talk however. Darvius Bleak Holm doesn't really have anything they can offer to help in such a fight. Grevesmuhl sends three healing potions. Hjolvar cannot send any aid as Solaria is currently ravaging their lands. Any resources they have are already dedicated to the fight for survival. Drachenward will send a box with 10 snowballs inside of it. Each one is capable of acting as a fireball except that it deals cold damage instead of fire. They are one use items. The business with the pegasi does not go well. Shlar Shlar improves their abilities. Prudence Prudence discovers how to focus the energy of the moon a way that communes with a creature's natural state. Whilst not perfect she thinks she can use the spell moonbeam to help purify a creature. Though nothing with it is guaranteed. Portia Portia spends some time drinking with Ant, and writing letters in case of her death. She readies herself for the battle with Solaria. Dragomir Drago's attempts to get the queen hooked up with Korak don't go particularly well. She seems somewhat disinterested in such things. Larmedelyth leaves Drago with a cloak made out of her scales. It's freezing to the touch, and if worn in normal conditions the wearer would ultimately freeze to death. However in hot conditions the cloak is extremely protective. She tells Drago that it should help protect him from some of Solaria's wrath. She has a fresh wound on her back. Orithar The Kallanon sees that Orithar is released early under the condition that he shows up to the battle with Solaria. He is free to decline, but if he does so he'll have to serve out the rest of his time in prison. Nubby Nubby is so bad at 'helping' that he quickly finds himself kicked off the first boat he tries, and the second, and the third, and the fourth... Perhaps he's made some progress in learning however? Siegfried Siegfried is sent three potions of healing. That's all the region can spare at the moment with their own problems. Fenris Fenris sends his letter. He hears back that they've been fighting off incursions from Orogs and Goblins. Shango Shango prepares himself for the upcoming battle. He steels his resolve, and get the tattoo to ready himself. Robert Robert spends time praying, and bring in a bit of levity with Mynnir. Eirena Eirena improves her abilities with her weapon. She grows closer to its unusual powers, and curse. Devamora Devamora is granted additional power from Moradin. Cordelia Cordelia does indeed find the Magic Mouth spell to copy into her book. Teresa Teresa works with Fovugar Hillfeet at her forge, and the two begin working on a piece together. She'll have it ready for her as soon as possible. Ingund Ingund writes her will, and prepares for the worst. Korak Korak can't quite figure out the riddle of the adamantine in order to repair it. The business with the Pegasi doesn't go well. They pick a spot to meet with Korak, but something about their intentions seems off so he decides not to go. Towards the end of Korak's rest he discovers that they are indeed now slaves to Solaria. Hedrin Hedrin tries to change his magic around, but doesn't manage to succeed. Lolgon Lolgon finally manages to master the sign language. The Siren grants Lolgon 3 healing potions to take with him on his journey. The Sultana sends Lolgon one Potion of Speed, and one healing potion. Gundle Unlike his 'brother' Gundle picks up on things quite quickly. Cedrych Cedrych spends time observing members of The Cohort, and learning a bit about the island. Improving his skills in the process. The Cohort has facilities all over the island, but he learns a bit about some of the major buildings. Mamm Mamm manages to pick up on the language really quickly. She's got a firm grasp of it, though is obviously still somewhat rough. Ant Ant practices, and gets ready for the fight with Solaria. Some of his time with Portia is quite a relief. Agatha Agatha takes Emily back to visit Dietric. Her fiance will ask her about the child, but doesn't say much about it other than that. Unfortunately Emily has been quite upset lately, and she takes up most of Agatha's time. She's not able to find any information about Defilus, but she does bond with the toddler a bit more. Nim Nim flubs nervously in front of her family, but Mamm speaks up for her. After allot of discussion they agree to sign the proper paperwork. Lynette Lynette returns home. Bellasaar Bellasaar manages to learn Rjuven during his stay in Urkenhame. Drake Drake and Veit retire from The Cohort. Varis Varis practices his martial arts, and improves to the next level. Marlmo Marlmo spends time communing with the trees, and is granted new powers from Eric. Hafr Hafr trains, and improves his abilities to the next level. There are lots of traders who come, and go from the island. They'll trade for most ordinary things if he happens to come across any supplies during his journeys. Rvannun Rvannun improves his abilities, and trains to better be able to handle himself in a fight. Jannis Jannis' practice pays off, and he does indeed hone his martial prowess. Roland Roland stays around The Cohort, thinking about his enemies. Savas Savas sends his letter to Eirena. Brognir Brognir understands the way of the sheep slightly better. He improves his skills. Phage Phage's sacrifice appears to work, and she feels herself blessed with new powers. Ingram Ingram improves his abilities, but the pegasus efforts are in vain as they've already been made into slaves of Solaria. Ezren Ezren swears to himself about the Tosculi. He then hears news that the humans have betrayed the sidhelien in the area, and there might be a chance for peace with the bugs. Zolis Zolis finally gets the hang of Carpenter's Tools. Theq Theq prays, meditates, and is granted new powers.
