It sounds like you are using 3d dice. Rolltemplates and 3d dice dont work together well, unfortunately. Because you cant do conditional logic in macros (e.g. you cant to "if roll is critical, roll for confirm"), the rolltemplate needs to roll all dice that might be needed, as Kraynic says. The template then only displays the dice that are actually used. But the 3d feature doesnt know how rolltemplates work - it just sees dice in the macro, and rolls them all.
