It is now August 19 th . It is now early morning and the party discusses what course of action to take next while at the camp, near the riverbank and hidden from view of the river docks manned by the mongrelmen when a familiar voice is heard calling out to them from the riverbank. Coal, heads towards the sound and sees that it is Quintolos, still in his transformed state with slimy mucus covered skin and gills on his throat. Quintolos, tells the party that there is in fact another way into the Forbidden City. Sheila, tries a Remove Curse spell on Quintolos to remove his affliction but it does not work. Sheila, also heals the wounds of Grax and Rowan with Cure Light & Cure Serious Wounds spells. Quintolos, tells them to travel along the base of the plateau, going around north westerly until they reach a river being fed by a huge 3,000 ft tall waterfall. It is here that Quintolos tells them to wait for him before crossing, so he can point the way farther. The party travels without incident to the spot indicated and wait for Quintolos to arrive. When he does he again points out where exactly to keep heading once on the other side of the river. Cassandra, uses her broom and ring of invisibility to fly over each member of the party one at a time until everyone is on the opposite side. Briefly, having a scare when an adult Wyvern was seen to fly down the river looking for a meal to scoop from it. The Wyvern pays the group not mention. Quintolos, tells the party that short, Grippli frogmen, should likely appear at some point along the path they are to take and guide them the rest of the way. Once near the entrance, the Grippli, departs and leaves the party on their own to continue. After traveling over 200 feet inside the hidden cavern passage they arrive inside a natural cavern area. Area Description: This chamber is a large natural cavern, with a large pool filling most of it. Along the east wall is a 5 foot wide ledge, running around the edge of the pool. The ledge ends in a small alcove. The walls of the alcove are worked with carvings of snakes and men in a pastoral scene and at its back stands a large statue of a snake-bodied, six-armed woman.   Flanking it are 2 charcoal braziers mounted on tripods. These cast a dim light throughout the room. Three canoes are beached in the alcove. The water appears calm and undisturbed.   The party sees that the one canoe closest to them is in several pieces sitting mainly on the bank, (of which Balen pulls it off the bank and down into the tunnel they came in from), while the other two, on the other side where the alcove is, are partially in the water and appear intact. Grax, leads the party heading along the ledge and goes for the boats checking for a trap but does not find one. The boats are pulled fully into the water and half the party gets into each boat. Trying to determine the water’s depth, they stick an oar, which is 10 feet long, straight down but can not feel it hit bottom. They then row eastward through a narrow gap then turn north easterly into one of two passages when rippling in the water is noticed coming towards the boat. It can now be seen that it is a Crododile! (A Surprise roll was made but it failed so it could not try to capsize the boat!)   And that ends the live gaming session for the night until next time!   Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 13th Session for I1: Dwellers of the Forbidden City 12/01/2019 97Sessions for “Isle of the Dread: Parts 1-4”: 10/11/2017 – 12/01/2019

Extending from the beach is a passage of worked stone. Two canoes have been pulled up onto the shore and the footprints of many creatures mar the smoothness of the sand. Searching the Bugbears, reveals they are wearing chain mail armor, carried fauchards and hand axes for weapons, and pouches containing a total of 94 gold coins! Grax first checks for a trap and listens at the north east wooden door. Grax did not find a trap or hear anything beyond the door. Camlin, nocks an arrow ready to fire into the door when opened if necessary. Grax, opens the door into an empty long hallway and the party travels down it’s length, coming to a spot where they could turn north or continue east, they chose to go north and eventually come to a wooden door at it’s end. Grax, has a look at the door, checking for a trap and finding none, then has a listen at it but does not hear anything beyond. Grax, pushes open the door to reveal a large room, 80 ft wide x 100 ft long. Area Description: This is a large vaulted room with arches rising from the corners. The floor is partially covered by rice-straw mats while the rest of the area is hard stone. In the center of the room, on the ceiling, is a small chest, resting upside down. On the far wall is a door with a large keyhole in it. Starting on the ceiling, over both doors, are a series of rungs, spaced at 2 foot intervals. These rungs stop short of the chest by 5 feet. There are no occupants in the room. With a witch in the party with a flying broom, the party has Cassandra fly up to the chest on the ceiling, with Grax, to have a look. As they near the chest about 10 feet down from it, Cassandra and Grax, both make a surprise and dexterity check rolls. Neither were surprised and make their Dexterity checks without penalty. Both make a successful dexterity check and stay on the broom, however Grax is seen to be hanging from it with feet pointing upwards towards the ceiling, seeming to show off a hand stand! Here, they have entered a reverse gravity field around the chest and Cassandra moves the broom closer to the ceiling so Grax can set foot down upon it and examine the chest. Grax, does a check to detect sliding or shifting walls or rooms and believes the ceiling is sound, so he beings to check for a trap on the chest after the party tossed up a rope to tie around himself. Cassandra takes up the other end of the rope, leaving 10 ft of slack. Grax, did not find a trap on the chest, so proceeds to open it, picking the lock and it unlocks and he lifts the lid. To his surprise the chest was in fact traped with a mechanism designed to release something from a vial. Thanksfully, it did not trigger because he picked the lock properly. Inside the chest he sees a mix of silver (2,000) and gold coins (120), along with a jade key. Grax closes the chest back up without locking it and sees that he can pick it up from the floor. It is decided to put the contents into a sack and Grax ties himself down onto Cassandra’s broomstick. Cassandra, who was checking about for the range of the reverse gravity using bits of chalk, finding it to be about 30 ft around the chest and 10 ft down, then flys out of the reverse gravity field and back down to the ground. A quick search is made of the straw mats in the room and looked under as well but nothing was found.   And that ends the live gaming session for the night until next time!   Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 15th Session for I1: Dwellers of the Forbidden City 12/29/2019 99 Sessions for “Isle of the Dread: Parts 1-4”: 10/11/2017 – 12/29/2019
