Scene: Five
weeks after a group of adventurers had left Phandalin looking for Orcs that
have been raiding the Triboar Trail and village of Conyberry, a new group of
out of town folks decide to help the town of Phandalin itself by looking into
and dealing with the Redbrands gang. Having
entered a secret tunnel, originally spotted by youngsters, Pip Stonehill and halfing,
Carp Alderleaf, the adventurers, entered into a large cavern with a couple
bridges over a 6 feet deep crevasse and several passages off of it. They
confronted a Nothic, whom let them pass after giving him food and a deck of
cards and polished stones. Finding
a secret door off a storeroom’s east wall they went down a hallway and opened a
door into a crypt. Awaiting
them inside are 3 Skeletons wearing rusty chain mail and wielding shortswords. Initiative
Rolls are made and Combat Round 1 begins now! Willie,

of Combat! 150 experience points are awarded to each adventurer! The
adventurers begin having a look around the crypt: Three large stone sarcophagi stand within this dusty crypt, and formerly
propped up against each sarcophagus was a human skeleton clad in bits of rusty
chain mail. False columns along the walls are carved in the image of spreading
oak trees. The double doors in the southeast corner are sheathed in tarnished
copper plate. Inspecting
the sarcophagi, the party sees one has the image of a female noble and the
others have male nobles carved onto the lids, along with a coat of arms. Roqar,
has a look at one for a trap and did not find one so him and Ravoprax remove
the lid. Inside the find bones and woman’s clothing. On the right hand is a
platinum signet ring bearing a coat of arms. Flint
decides he wants to take scraps of the skeleton’s rusty chain mail. The
other two Sarcophagi are opened and both are of males. The platinum signet
rings (value 50 gp each), are taken from them as well. The
party exits the crypt via the tarnished green copper plated double doors with a
relief carving of a mournful angel graces the doors. Area Description: Thick dust covers the flagstones of this
somber hallway. The walls are decorated with faux columns every ten feet, and
the double doors at the west end of the hall are sheathed in copper plate, now
green with age. A relief carving of a mournful angel graces the doors. After
going 10 feet into the hallway, Ravoprax, making a Dexterity Saving Throw,
catches the side of the pit’s top and pulls himself up and out! Seeing
that there is a small ledge on the north and south side of the pit, the
adventurers begin try to cross it while hugging the wall. Welfast, falls into
the pit taking 10 damage and leaving him unconscious on it’s floor at -3 hit
points! Roqar,
tries climbing down into the pit but slips and falls during the last 10 feet,
taking 2 damage! She recovers from the spill and tends to Welfast and
stabilized him. Welfast
is hauled back up, then the rope lowered again for Roqar, whom tries to climb
back up to practice her climbing skills but she falls again, near the top, taking
7 damage! Roqar, is now unconscious at -1 hit points! Ravoprax
goes down into the pit, retrieves Roquar, then Willie stabilized her. Now
with everyone on the other side of the hallway they see a doorway to the south.
The group decides to do a short rest here and recover a bit before continuing
and nothing bothers them during the 4 hours. The
party decides they had better head back to Phandalin, instead of trying the
south door, so it is back across the pit again. Poor Welfast fell in but had
rope around him this time, taking 7 damage from smacking the side wall of the
pit. Ravoprax
fishes him out and carries him over and stabilized him. Everyone
makes it back across the pit and head for Sister Garaele house for some
healing. Once
there, the cleric of Tymora, very happy to see someone is confronting the
Redbrands for a change, heals welfast with 3 hit points restored. Sister
Garaele, mentions of a gnome friend, Yingle Yawnbringer, whom was supposed to
come to town to help with recovering a spellbook , once owned by legendary
wizard Bowgentle. She tells them it appears his body was found in a pit trap
found on the Triboar trail, by merchant travelers, with no weapon or his holy
symbol of Tymora upon him. Sister
Garaele, asked the party if they would do Yingle’s task, for her, as she had
tried herself, by visiting the town of Conyberry, to see an elf maiden banshee,
known as Agatha, by the locals, real name Auglatha, meaning Winter Breeze in
elven, for information the banshee may have about Bowgentle’s spellbook. However,
Agatha, did not appear for her, Sister Garaele, believing the banshee may have
been envious of her. So, thus, why a message was sent to Yingle Yawnbringer in
Neverwinter, asking for help. Sister
Garaele, warns the adventurers of Orc raids on the Triboar trail between town
and Conyberry and tells them a bit of how it all started: In 951 an orc war led by King Uruth Ukrypt of the Sword
Mountains, wiped out Phandalin and laid waste to the settlement. He was also
the Orc King that laid siege to Waterdeep, which was once known as Nimoar’s
Hold, and broke it in 936 during the Orcfastings War. However, Nimoar’s Hold,
was able to defeat the orcs. Tresendar manor along with the whole town was then
abandoned during that time in 951. Aldith Tresendar, whom was known as the
Black Hawk, was a great knight who died during that raid. Aldith, carried a
blade known as the Talon, of which the hilt is said to be shaped into a
majestic bird with it’s wings stretched out wide. Sister Garaele, tells the party that the signet rings show the
coat of arms of Noble House Tresendar. Roqar, had asked if she could make a coon cap out of the beaver
pelts retrieved at the Redbrands’ hideout and was told to go see Freda the
weaver whom frequents the Stonehill tavern. Sister Garaele, retrieves a jeweled silver comb off a table,
showing it to the adventurers telling them to present the comb to Auglatha,
hoping to flatter her in the process, so that she may then be willing to divulge
the information on the where-abouts of Bowgentle’s spellbook. She offers 3
healing potions as payment for completing the task. The party takes up the task offered by Sister Garaele and
Ravoprax buys 1 healing potion for 100 gp off her. As the party leaves her, leaving Welfast here to rest until he
wakes, heading for the Stonehill tavern, after Ravoprax goes to see Thagren
Ironforge at the smithy to buy a rapier which he had for 20, Sister Garaele
says, “Have faith in the fate that you pursue and trust your own luck, for to
master one’s own path shows the very confidence that the Smiling Lady
favors." And this ends the gaming session
