Game loading incredibly slow, Journal items loading at sluggish pace

So recently I have been going into my game - and noticed the game was loading incredibly slow and when I attempted to add a new npc to my game it would take forever to load as well - tried to look at other sheets and it was equally as fast, thought it was the amount of stuff I had so I deleted a lot of stuff and still no avail. I even made a new game to put all the characters that have died and with a FRESH game, the character sheets were having an equal amount of time to load. I did notice that the DND 5e Character sheet was updated and literally every single spell was opened up with this new information button on all the spells, perhaps this is the cause? My players are pretty good at keeping only what spells they have prepared down but having all the spells have this new information may be chugging the game. Anyone else having this issue? Edit: Here is what I am talking about with this new thing that was changed on the sheets (The black circle with an i) - did it with ALL spells. https://gyazo.com/6251dc2e2b37ba6b4933757d39d84448

The black circle feature was recently added and hasn't added any real space to the character sheet. The data was already there, it's just being viewed through a different method. I haven't noticed a recent slowdown. I don't want to step on mod toes, but have you gone through the basic troubleshooting steps to eliminate potential problem areas? It's pretty straightforward, but discovering slowdown disappears when you switch browsers for instance can help figure out what's going on. If the first three steps don't do anything, that last step, the console log can give the devs the technical info they need to get to the bottom of the issue. Guide to Solving Technical Issues : Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome and Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable all add-ons/extensions and anti-virus programs. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through Step 4 . (Don't forget the complete Console Log!)
I am seconding this post. I know you are saying that it shouldn’t slow the game down, but the update to the character sheets definitely DID make the game extremely laggy when opening up character sheets. It happened across all my games, every character sheet

I'm not discounting that you are seeing lagginess, or that it might have happened at the same time as the sheet update. I'm only saying that I have not experienced a difference and cannot duplicate the results. So there is likely either another cause, or some synergy between the sheet changes and something common to the setup Roll20 is running on. I have test-opened sheets in several different games on Firefox and Chrome, on my mid-range Mac, and on a Chromebook. I'd suggest running through the steps above and see if you can't isolate a cause.

I did all the steps for technical issues with the exception of step 4, as when I went into my game to get a console log the sheets were loading fine all of a sudden, which was weird cause they were acting slowly the night before on a new game, new sheet, and everything. I will post step 4 if I can get it to happen again. My computer has been on all night too due to final exams, so it can't be because my computer restarted or anything.
Hi Edos - Huh, very strange. If you run into the issue again, can you provide the values from this speed test , along with the info in Step 4, please? We would want the "Ping", "Download", and "Upload" values from the test. Thank you for your patience and your report!

I'm having similar issues. I logged in a few days ago for the first time in about a month, and I can't do anything on the character sheets without having to wait upwards of 20 seconds before I can do anything else again, similar load times for creating new handouts or deleting files from the journal. I tried all the steps listed for technical issues as well. Both Chrome and Firefox had the same issue, with no extensions/firewalls on. I'm also getting intermittent notifications that my connection has been disrupted upon loading into a game for the first time, however the message goes away in a few seconds. In terms of the speed test, i'm getting 4 Ping, Download - 421Mbps, and Upload - 20.28 Mbps Console Log attached.

As of 30 seconds ago however, I tried using incognito mode on chrome, and the issues appear to disappear, and i'm not exactly sure why. I`ll test some more and see what happens. Edit: Incgonito mode is no longer working, but was working fine last night. I've made no changes at all on my end. I'm very confused. Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit, im not even sure if this is the same issue as the OP. If I should make a new thread please let me know.

Can you provide me the exact name or a link to a game in which you've been experiencing these issues, please? I'll pop in and see what I can find. Thank you!

Hello Nicholas, The campaign is called "Ravnica: Dungeon of the Abyss". However I just logged in on regular chrome, and it seems to be working fine currently this morning. Very odd. https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/3936538/ravnica-dungeon-of-the-abyss
Hey Bryce N. - After further review of the game you provided, the issues you are experiencing are most likely caused by the game's size and the game's "complexity". The linked game has a large number of assets being used (pages, journal entries, tokens, card decks, etc) and is also running music and using API scripts. All of this put together causes you to hit the ceiling of what your browser/system/network is capable of handling and causes lag in various Roll20 features. One thing we recommend is reviewing and utilizing our Wiki article which covers optimizing your game's performance. That guide can be seen here: https://wiki.roll20.net/Optimizing_Roll20_Performance . Additionally, some of our awesome community members may have additional sagely advice/tips/tricks that help improve your game's overall performance.
This doesn't exactly explain why I got the same problems on a fresh game with only 2 character sheets on it. Again, however I havent had a problem since but if it does occur again ill be sure to get a log.
It also doesn't explain why before the sheet update everything was running fine and now things run at a snail pace.

Keep in mind that since not everyone is seeing a slowdown, it is not likely to be just the sheet update. I haven't noticed any difference at all. Have you gone through the troubleshooting steps above to ensure that it is not something else, or even something else working in synergy with the sheet update?
I have. I'll just deal with it. Not exactly running a campaign or playing in one of them just designing a few things for the one I want to run when I have the time to.
