I'm also a curious bystander, I have the books on the shelf though I've never actually read them beyond some skimming, as I'm more of an Exalted 2.5 player. I always wanted to see how it is and what it's all about, though, so if this game picks up and you guys will have an extra seat I'd love to give it a trial session. Good luck!
