[Weekly Downtime Thread][Winter II 1524 HC]

Please post any of your downtime activities below. You can find the full rules for downtime here . You can find last week's downtime thread here. Always remember to be specific about what downtime action you are taking! If you're leveling up type that in your post labeled as OOC! If you're looking into an item be specific about where that item is from, what mission, when you got it, who from, etc. If you tell me "I read that book I found" I am going to likely have no clue what you are talking about. If you are learning a language, or tool make sure to write down how many weeks you have been practicing! This lowers the DC, and gives advantage depending on the number of weeks. Also a reminder players only get one main downtime action per week.

Dragomir “Drago” The Black Drago continues to overcome his fear of the flames with Leana Stillborne. After being dropped in or "tied up" at the deep end or Pyre... things are not so bad but breaking a fear takes time. He will go out of his way to do his best during the training by not turning invisible, flying out a window or making illusion clones of himself.  During the training, he asks to see what she uses as her magical focus and asks where she got it. For Drago, this is his silver dragon wing bracelet, made by Korak. He tells her the crystal used inside it was from the Sharpclaws cave. He asks if she knows what makes the best focuses, where to find them, how to get one, do they come from blessings? Monster parts? Magical caves, Does she have one spare? He also wonders is anything she can personally teach him about fire and her magical control over it as he really doesn't have any natural fire magic ability.  Throughout the training, Drago is very respectful to Leana and extremely grateful to her once they are finished. On the last day, he arrives with a hand-drawn thank-you card with a picture of him tied to a Pyre in the cohort yard. Inside is a thank-you message saying one day he hopes to be able to help her. No matter how big or small.   Orithar Trisk Orithar goes back to his study of the scroll but can't get the face of the snobby magic students out of his head from the city. He will go about trying to find the Magian as this is his only other lead on getting help with the scroll. Depending on the difficulty of the task he will look to meet him and if it proves difficult then look to gather enough information to form a group together from the cohort for a mission. Fenris Nathair Will be looking to try and visit Lady Tanya  Angelwing. Countess of Eidlan, plenty of time has passed since The hunt. He will go there and express his apologies to the lady for being overconfident during the gathering. He will offer his services to help with any matter she may have as a form of Apologie.  Nubby Oddling Nubby is going to go learn about any pirates that operate in and about around the area and where they recruit for there crews. Ports they use and maybe a friend, so he can get an interview for a crew.

Hafr Sitting in his meager surroundings within the cohort Hafr busies himself with his most noble goal of filling his role in the Cohort.  To that end he delves in to the library to search for records of skilled artisans in the world at crafting masterwork bows.  Since he is unable to purchase them from the Cohort any time soon he accepts that he will have to find a master Fletcher elsewhere, hopefully a name to go along with it and not just a kingdom or a people.  If there is nothing to be gained from the library, Hafr will go to the taverns on the island and begin asking around. (Major Action: Research Master Fletchers/Bowyers of Cerilia in the Library Minor Action: Spend 20 gold for the month trying to see if their are rumors of Master Bowyers in the taverns of the Cohort's island.) Marlmo Concerned by his near death exposure and the filling of holes with berries Marlmo will be looking into the concepts of perhaps putting together these Circles as Orithar explained to him.  He begins to expand his philosophical meanderings and seeks a priest of Nesirie.  Seeing as the tree grows from ground, and drinks from water it would make sense to add to this Circle with a greater understanding of the mystery.  To add to the wood the breath of water would do well.   (Major Action: If experience allows begin cross classing into Cleric 1/2, else continue training with woodcarving tools and the priests of Erik 2/3) Rvannûn Returning home Rvannûn takes into account the mysteries of fire that Princess Niobhe began instructing.  A mix of sulfur and hand gestures informed by simple chants seems to spark from the hand a simple bolt of flame.  This drawing of power, while intrinsic to Rvannûn's heritage still does not answer the blending of sword and sorcery, though if this can make up the short comings he has with a bow he'll be grateful all the same. (Major Action: Continue training as an EK 2/3)
Jaidiele continues to train his skills (levels up).

Korak Will continue to learn Sylvan week 2 with Cordie. On his short trip home to Baruk-Azhik Korak will bring the Flail Snail's shell to Forge Master Foguvar Hillfeet the mistress blacksmith and see if she would be able to create anything interesting with the shell and want to challenge herself with the rare material. Korak will tell her of how tough the creature was while hiding in its shell and the blinding stun ability the creature had if she could somehow recreate it with the shell. He makes mention that it could possibly make a fine shield or if she had something more interesting in mind he is all ears. Hedrin (Maul learning Week 1) He wishes to learn some proper Dwerren weaponry and will stay at Daikhar Zhigun asking one of his martial teachers to show him the ways of the Greathammer (Maul)  Lolgon He will head to Medoere and see if there are any craftsmen that can make a lance for him that uses dexterity and use his renown there to persuade them to do so if possible. Normal lance cost is 10 gold and he has 50 currently that he would be able to pay for any construction and labor costs if the cost is greater than this he would ask for the smith/woodworker to start on the item with the 50gp as collateral and the rest to be paid later. If this is not possible in this location he would see if they could at least point them in the direction of someone who could possibly make this for him and ask the same.  While he is in the area he goes and speaks to the Archpristess Suris Enlien and ask her for a replacement Rournil holy symbol and book blessed by her, he tells her the story of the inhospitable forrest to the north and how every day there was harder than 200 years of his travels combined. During the conversation he eyes the trees in the grove skeptically.

Savas Travels to Leivika in Svinik to study the culture and attempt to learn the Rjuven language (Modest Lifestyle).  Before leaving, he pens a letter to Eirena and slips it under her chamber door. "My dearest Eirena, I am both proud and happy to have had you by my side at Levoca.  Despite the winter chill of that harsh land, your mere presence warms my heart like the summer sun in Zikala.  Your stoic courage makes me a stronger, braver, and better man.  I do not know what the future holds...  but I know this.  Where you go, I will follow. Yours, Savas" Roland Will continue his research into the Mammoth Warriors as to their weaknesses, how to survive them or get them called off. Jannis Jannis will travel to Hechingen and then Oden in the Rohrmarch, talking to the locals to find out what each side thinks about their own leader, and the opposing leader in the civil war (modest lifestyle).
Lindal will again be spending his downtime improving his skills in battle, i.e. levelling up. Shlar will be investigating the island of spirits/ghosts.  He wants to know what to expect.  He will start in the Cohort Library studying it, if in his studies he discovers that anyone alive and still connected to the Cohort might have knowledge about the island he will go seek them out and ask if they would be willing to tell him about it.
Brognir goes back to Torova Temylatin to spend time with the Dwerren there. He buys a Tome with Dwerren runes and a extra tome to write in. He spends his time mining and blacksmithing with the Dwerren in Torova Terrylatin. He spends his free time trying to learn their version of Karamhul and writing it down in his blank tome. He tries to teach them his Karamhul if any of them want to learn.
Robert: As Robert has proven to be an apt student, he will dedicstr this weeks downtime to crafting a potion of healing with the herbs gathered from the old Margreve, something he had put off as learning Midgardian was of big importance.  He will take a moment to think about a thank-you gift to Salazar for his efficient teaching. Salazar will find a gift basket in front of his room at some point during this month, akin to the one that they gave away to the Hedgehogpeople.A small note will be added however "To my friend and teacher Salazar die Fioretti." Shango: After the trial, Shango will start research about the mandrake roots. He will look for ways to identify them, as well as ways to peacefully harvest them, if there are any. Sithric: On his second mission, Sithric was lucky enough to have day or candlelight on his side during combat. He believes that he won't be as lucky next time. To remedy this, he will try to scrape together materials for a belt attached lanternhold, to keep his hands free and area illuminated. ( OOC: Looking around the Cohort Area to purchase material for leatherwoking. If there is none, he would look for these materials in Kopingdal as well. He will use these materials to try and craft a lanternholder that he can attach to his belt. He'd be willing to spend at most 30 gp for this endeavor and cancel the endeavor if he can't fit it into his budget.  ) Eirena: Eirena will perform intensive research on Ice Maiden's. Primarily a way to make them end the domination on their own, their vulnerabilities and resitances and ways to locate them or their dominated people. She will save up some gold to fund a rescue mission to save Phage from the Ice Maiden, but wouldn't want to put the endeavor at risk by going unprepared. She will gleefully open the letter Savas wrote her once he leaves for Leivika and be stunned at the words. Having little to not experience in this matter, she is at a loss on how to respond to this letter and spend her sleepless nights penning a response letter. "My dearest Savas, I cannot express how grateful I am to have been blessed with the chance of standing beside you in tough tides and peaceful moments alike. And even more so, knowing that you won't leave my side. I blossom in your presence, both as a warrior... and as myself. Your relentless valor emboldens me and I wish that the future holds nothing but happiness and glory. Yours, Eirena."  This time around however Eirena will wait for Savas' return and hand him the letter personally. Even though her face could reasonably be mistaken for a strawberry at that point.
Darvius Darvius will continue to work with Thieves tools with Nim Downtime number 3. Thorg Thorg will level to 3.

Agatha The twins travel home, but this time to the first place they ever called home which is with the nomadic druid that raised them somewhere in Hogunmark. Before they set of Agatha writes another letter to Dietric, telling him about her change and as she is not the same woman anymore it is alright if he wants to break of the engagement. She also sends a letter to Emily, telling her that she will be home soon and that she will look a little different. During their travels they exchange language skills and Agatha works on her Sylvan while teaching her sister Low Brecht. (Learning a language: Sylvan, 2nd Week. Marking off 1GP and 1SP for lifestyle expenses during travel.) Nim During her downtime she makes sure to check up on the Vos boy to see if he is doing fine at the Cohort. The rest of the time she spends with Mamm who brings her to get one of Korak's tattoos. She requests an image of a shield with a flower in the middle. Nim uses most of her time to practice. (Leveling up to level 5)
Prudence Duskhart: Prudence will find Orithar to give him one of the Vrock Cloaks she has made. Then the twins will tavel back to their roots to Hogunmark, looking for the nomadic druid that raised them from a young age, and was Prudence's teacher in druidic practices. They will spend 2 weeks in a modest lifestyle. She will teach Agatha Sylvan as they are travelling, if she teaches her Low Brecht in turn. ( Major Action: Learning Low Brecht Week 1)( Minor Action: Teach Agatha Sylvan) Portia Folkor: Portia feeling much better about adequacy in her fighting ability will go back to learning Karamhul from Mamm as she really wants to speak it now.  ( Major Action: Learning Karamhul Week 2) Berry Brambles: Goes around giving a hug to whoever accepts it.
Ant Ant will continue learning Anuirean to surprise Portia. Ant will also work on preparing his gift. ( Learning language: Anuirean Week 2 ) Mamm Bealdaartsdotter Mamm will take Nim to Korak and pay for Nim to have a tattoo done by him. Mamm and Nim will go back to the orphanage and will look after the kids. She will continue working on her Longbow project.  ( Crafting Masterwork Shortbow [Downtime week 2/5] ) Skag Polavich Skag will continue with his training. Otherwise keeping quiet and not interacting with people much. ( Learning: Longbow Proficiency Week 1 )

Diesa Gemfire D iesa returns to to Cohort briefly to check in on Teresa as she promised, spending a couple of evenings reciting tales of Medi's adventures if possible before she returns to her own family back in Daugren again. Location: Daugren, Grevesmuhl - Comfortable Lifestyle Language: She continues to attend the Herzog's court every now and then while staying in the city with her family, the tantalising traces of karamhul in the languge frustrating her when she fails to undertsand so hoping being immersed in the language there will help her learn it better. (Learning High Brecht, 2/4 downtimes spent) Galena Aban âthu Galena thanks the Siren for all her help and patience and probably causes a minor scandal by giving the ruler a big ol hug before promising to be back in spring to try and scour the countryside for that coven hag's lair. After which she returns to the cohort. Location: Halls of the Cohort Arcanum, Isle of Fabrica Tool Proficiency: If Mamm has time and is willing, Galena will ask to hang around her learning to cook and bake from her. If Mamm doesn't she'll pester the kitchen staff at Halls until they let her. (Learning Cooking Utensils, 1/4 downtimes spent) Other: Galena gets a hug from Berry Brambles. Aubrae Trevelyan Location: City of Ber Dairas, Sultanate of Binsada - Modest Lifestyle Training: Aubrae continues her stay in Ber Dairas and being a regular at the Binsadan Temple of Leira, trying to talk to as many people as possible to learn the local language but get distracted from her attempts as instead finds herself inspired by the latest adventure in the tower and spends a lot of her time in the courtyard practicing and honing her martial abilities if the priestess allows it, she can say it is another form of artistry. (Levelling up to 4th, same class - Paladin) Other: Aubrae writes a letter to the Sultana of Binsada, since she is still learning Basarji she writes in her native Andu, figuring that she is likely to know the language or atleast have easy access to translators. To Her Royal Highness the Sultana Banira, Daughter of Hamilah and the House of Reshid From your faithful aquaintaince, Ser Aubrae, Daughter of Lothair and the House of Trevelyan, associate of the Cohort Arcanum Greetings your majesty, I hope you are well. We met briefly last month when the cohort came to your mobile court to ask for access to your lay lines. I am sorry I cannot write in your language yet but I wanted to keep you up to date on the tower matter since im not sure my confederates have been forwarding our findings in there to you, and some of them said you also might be displeased with us after they asked for longer access than normal. I am sorry too for our over ambitiousness if this is the case, I know we haven't made the kind of progress that we would like but I do think we have been making some at least. Sadly for every two steps forward we seem to take in there, the tower finds a way to push us back by one. Here are some of the things we have encountered, and defeated there so far. [Aubrae describes the creatures she has seen in the tower and includes some stories she heard about what other members have seen. She also makes some sketches (they're not very good but she tries her hardest), with particular emphasis on the magic eater, and the death-ray creature that slew Rob (temporarily) and forced them to retreat again] So it seems to me like whatever thing or power that is controlling the tower is having to pull stronger and stronger guardians out of its depths in order to keep impeding our efforts. This suggests that it is worried about us since it has to bring out its elite, and also - that it doesnt have an indefinite supply. Otherwise I think it would deploy a greater number of more low worth opposition before risking the high value units. That is my belief anyway, I am confident that the Cohort will eventually break through and be able to get this done. Thank you for giving my words your time and attention, and may Laerme's fire warm and inspire you.

Dragomir Leana tells Drago that she doesn't need a focus any longer, but that she used to use a kindle gem. She spends most of the time trying to help him overcome his fear. At the end of things she hands him a small orb with a burning flame inside. It's her old kindle gem. It's a focus that can also be used to start fires, and put them out with the same power of Prestidigitation. Orithar Orithar discovers that trying to find The Magian is more or less suicidal for most people. If you want to meet with him you have to make your way through his castle which is full of magical tests, traps, and monsters. Even if you do make it the awnshegh man is just as likely to kill you as he is to help you. A strong group who doesn't mind the risk could attempt to meet with him. If things go well the rewards could be great. Fenris Lady Tanya Angelwing has tea with Fenris, and accepts his apology. However her mood, and attitude isn't particularly welcoming. She tells Fenris that if he really wants to make it up to her he can deal with a murder of Axe Beaks plaguing her lands. Nubby Nubby doesn't find much, but he hears rumours about a ship known as The Shadow Queen. It used to be owned by a sidhelien warrior mage by the same name, but after she perished the ship supposedly disappeared. Recently there have been reports of the sky suddenly changing to night time, and a crew of spiritual and ghost pirates riding the ship. Supposedly they will murder anyone they find before looting unless they are offered moon sugar or cheese. If granted either of those offerings the ghost pirates will leave in peace. Hafr Hafr reads of many sidhelien folk in the Sielwode who are great craftsmen and women, but doesn't find particularly what he is looking for. It's at least a good clue for a place to start looking. Marlmo Marlmo begins to learn from Orithar about being a cleric. He will still need to find a church of Nesirie to grant him power which might be somewhat difficult considering his race. Some large churches to the goddess are the Peaceful Seas of Nesirie, the Eastern Temple of Nesirie, and the Coastal Temple of Nesirie. The Coastal Temple of Nesirie is likely the best bet as it resides in the realm of The Siren. (week 1/3 towards being a cleric). OOC: multi-classing into a new magical class requires 3 weeks of downtime. You'll need to find a church willing to take Marlmo in as a priest. You can go ahead, and do the first 2 weeks of training in the meantime, or even all 3 if you want to. However you won't be able to up your level until you are invested with Nesirie's power. This can be done without a church, but is EXTREMELY difficult (almost impossible) without some sort of life altering event that would essentially make your character a prophet of that god. Rvannun Rvannun continues his training with Princess Niobhe. She's started to warm up to Rvannun some, and isn't quite as cold as she once was. She shows a bit of humanity crying in worry for her father's safety at one point. Though she insists that wasn't the case if asked about it. Jaidiele Jaidiele levels up. Korak Korak finally finishes learning Sylvan from Cordie. The Forge Master Foguvar Hillfeet tells Korak that she could make something, but it would take a long time and a large amount of coin. She says she could make a few different things with it depending on his preferences. The item(s) being crafted would affect the price. Hedrin Hedrin begins learning the proper use of the greathammer (maul) form the dwerren in Daikhar Zhigun. He'll need more time to finish learning it. Kelara Trollbreaker teaches Hedrin for half the usual price. Lolgon Lolgon fails to find a smith capable of crafting such a thing. They all inform him that creating a lance light, agile, and tough enough isn't possible. Not even mythriall could make such a weapon. He'd need to find a new material, or some type of magic to get a weapon of the like. It'd be a marvel of smithing. The Archpriestess will sell him a holy symbol at cost. A proper book would cost 100 gold pieces however. Savas Savas trades letters with Eirena, and learns Rjuven whilst staying in Svinik. Roland Roland doesn't manage to find any new information this week. Jannis Jannis finds out that most people do not care much either way. However the average folk do have some respect for Furst Oden Rohr who is the rightful heir of the land. He hears stories about the Furst's father who was slain by The Boar. There are stories and songs being sung by bards of the incident. The Furst died valiant, cursed by The Boar. His grave lies silent, and he lives no more. Yet his throne sits empty, save for his ghost. He cannot rest easy, till the beast lay o'ere his moat. A son and a brother, fight for what is not theirs. For the Furst holds his crown, till The Boar is brought down. May the one who seeks vengeance, be granted the crown! Lindal Lindal improves his battle skills (level up). Shlar Shlar discovers a story about The Green Eyed Monster. Once a sidhelien woman, this demon sits on the bridge that is the only way to cross The River of Souls. In her life she went by the name Parsee, and was originally just a quiet farmer's daughter. Her husband ultimately cheated on her, and she murdered the woman that he slept with in cold blood before doing the same to her husband. From there she went a jealous rampage, ultimately becoming envious of everyone around her; even in completely irrational ways. She became a notorious murderer who was said to have killed over 1,000 innocent people, and many more who were guilty of crimes not worth the judgement of death. When she died she traversed to the realm of the gods, but she was so envious of their glory that she attacked them in her madness. It was said that she actually managed to to leave a scar on Haelyn's cheek, and for her crime she was punished to sit on The Bridge that is No Longer Crossed. Her demonic green eyed soul now lives there in lonely misery, just desiring true love and acceptance. She's extremely dangerous, and will even become enraged in envy of others' misery. Considering she is already dead, and has passed onto the world of the departed killing her is exceptionally difficult. Supposedly if her soul can finally be soothed she will be allowed to cross back into the realm of the gods, and the bridge will be much easier to cross. How exactly to do that is another story entirely. Brognir Brognir spends some time with the Dwerren there, but the barrier for communication is surprisingly difficult. In some ways the languages being so closely related actually makes things more difficult than learning an entirely new language. Robert Robert crafts his potion of healing using supplies from this week. Shango Shango does some research, but finds absoluately nothing he was looking for. Sithric Sithric spends some time trying to work on his new creation, but doesn't manage to successfully get something that is working yet. He loses half the coin he spent on materials from the failed experiment (15gp lost). Eirena Eirena shares her letter, and does some research. Aside from the ways already mentioned, there are stories of ice maidens being bargained with. However none of the stories go into any details on what was traded. They just mention they were bargained with in exchange for releasing one of their enthralled. Eirena levels up. Darvius Darvius finally gets the hang of thieves' tools. Thorg Thorg levels up. Agatha Agatha finally gets a strong handle on Sylvan, but her letter isn't returned by Dietric. It's returned by his sister who informs Agatha that her brother has recently gone missing, and he didn't take his drake with him. She asks Agatha if she has any clue on where he might be. Nim Nim begins practicing how to paint, but the progress is slow with the jumble of voices in her head. The other girls all immediately get jealous, and throw outrageous fits that Anne is getting special attention. It makes it hard to learn anything. The boy is indeed doing fine, and Nim gets her tattoo. Nim levels up. Prudence Prudence, and Agatha find that their nomadic druid has passed away whilst they were gone. Some of the locals take them to the druid's resting place underneath a great tree. An elderly woman gives each of the twins a cloak that allows an awnshegh (a tiefling) to assume an ordinary appearance whilst wearing it. The two cloaks are in Prudence's and Agatha's favorite colours respectively. No one says it directly, but it becomes obvious to the twins that their old caretaker's death was a result of making these magic items. Making magic items in Cerilia usually requires life essence of some sort. These cloaks require attunment for the magic to function, and only work for an awnshegh (tiefling). The cloaks are linked to the twins, and their magic will vanish 1 year and a day after each of their deaths. Prudence doesn't manage to master the language she's practicing as she's too distracted with these heavy matters. Portia Portia continues learning from Mamm, but she's still having trouble wrapping her head around much of the language. Berry Berry gives free hugs. He's rewarded with free hugs. Ant Ant learns Anuirean, and begins preparring his gifts. Mamm Mamm gets Nim's tattoo done, and continues her project. Skag Skag starts training with the longbow, but he's still having trouble hitting the mark. Diesa Diesa finally manages to learn High Brecht as her time in court pays off. Galena Galena begins learning how to cook, and gets a hug from Berry Brambles. Aubrae Aubrae continues studying Basarji, but doesn't manage to get a complete grasp of the language yet. She has at least picked up a few key words and phrases however. The Sulatana is pleased with the woman's efforts, and thanks her for the update. Aubrae levels up
