Dynamic Lighting Not Showing Lighting Emitted from Another Token

Hi, all, I'm new at this so forgive me if I've overlooked something simple, but I'm experimenting with dynamic lighting and I'm unable to get it to display for my characters lighting sources from another token (a torch). I've created the torch as a player and given all players control over it. I've edited the torch token to emit light at 40/20, and chosen for all players to see the light and for the light to have sight. When I CTRL+L the torch, it works perfectly, but when I put a PCs token next to it and CTRL+L, nothing is visible. If I give the PC token sight, it works correctly, but obviously I don't want to do that if they don't have sight. Is there anything I've missed?
Giving a token "Sight" is what lets it see light. All non-blind characters should have Sight. If they don't they are blind and will not see light from other tokens. On the other hand, a token for a torch is one for a non-living object, and probably should NOT have sight, but should have "all characters see light" and the light emission settings. At least, that's how I use it, and it works for my games. :)
Ctrl-L is not fully accurate. The best way to test lighting is to create a second testing account, join your game with that testing account (usually in another browser or an incognito/private browsing window), assign a character to the account, and then view the lighting results.

How would we indicate if a character had Dark Vision and didn't need the torch? I'll try your suggestion and see if it works. Thanks, Shane

You have 2 options for token sight: 1) a token has no vision and is blind (players won't even be able to see their token except by mousing over it and seeing their cursor change), or 2) a token has sight and can see light emitted by itself or another token/source on the map not blocked off by dynamic lighting, FoW, etc. You have 2 options for a token that emits light: 1) other tokens can see the light (assuming they have sight) emitted by this token, or 2) the light emitted is only visible to the token emitting the light (but this token will only see it if it has sight). A token representing a character with darkvision would have sight and emit light that is not visible to other tokens. Thanks for the reference. Playing around with the settings like you suggest gets me the results I'm looking for. Thank you! Shane
Given the massive issues with Dynamic Lighting and the rest, why are you still advertising this as a feature reason to upgrade. I dropped my Pro upgrade at the end of the last year I paid for, at the end of 2019, and now I am being invited to gain these features by upgrading, Do you not know that people want them fixed so you should not be advertisng the useless mess that they are now? It is very grating to be asked to upgrade to use a feature that I have not been able to sensibly use for a year.... FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!

Dynamic Lighting works just fine. I use it all the time without issues. Advanced Fog of War has problems.
So, Keith, when did they fix it?
I'm also having issues with dynamic lighting at this time. Trying to create a torch token so to speak, but my tokens cannot see the light created by another token

I don't know Jim, but I have never had issues with dynamic lighting either, other than user error on settings. It is also pretty strange to come into a thread about an issue that is solved and start ranting about how something is broken.

It is not a rant - but it is starnger still that you both deny the problem - as it has been extant for a year! Seems you are keen for me to buy Pro again and then Sue the company for a breach of promise!

Again. I'm having no problems with dynamic lighting, and never have. I'm not sure how I can be denying problems that I don't have, but if it makes you happy, you are certainly free to assume that I am.

Yet another datapoint for Dynamic Lighting working just fine, Advanced Fog of War being sketchy. I've never had issues with dynamic lighting.

Jim, what problems are you having with Dynamic Lighting? Can you post a repeatable instance so that we can see where the issue lies? Keeping in mind that Dynamic Lighting, Fog of War and Advanced Fog of War are three separate features, what about Dynamic Lighting specifically does not work?

Trying to create a torch token so to speak, but my tokens cannot see the light created by another token Hi Gary, Can you post screen shots of the settings on the torch, the token doing the viewing, the page settings, and if you think it will help clarify the issue, the VTT? I'm sure we can work out where the settings issue is.
Torch Settings^ Character on thr right has a torch, Character on the left has darkvision, but should be able to see the light from the character on the right. Using Ctrl+L to see through the eyes of the character on the left. Character cannot see the light being emitted from character on the right. This is a recent issue. have not had a problem in the past.
Upon further testing, it seems the problem lies with "Enforce line of sight" This option was clicked on premade maps for modules, but not on ones that I had created. Which explains the issue. Thanks to everyone for their assistance!

See the extensive disussions in the Pro forums which you, and I, have both partaken in. I now see why this is in a forum only Pro an access - so people can be fooled to become Pro. I bought Pro for many years, annually, 2019 my Pro membership was a complete waste of money due to the changes made, and failure to fix the issues caused. Given responses here it is clear that Pro membership is something I can never again get - because I will never get an honest view of when the issues have been fixed.

Dynamic lighting is also a plus feature. You don't need a pro subscription to get dynamic lighting.

I still don’t know what you are referring to, Jim. Please give a specific example. To my knowledge, no one here is trying to obfuscate. In my experience, any problems with DL have either been from someone unfamiliar with the feature and setting things up improperly, or specific interactions with advanced fog of war (which is source of the problem). Also, most bug reports are reported in the bug reports forum. When Roll20 posts a thread in the Pro forum, it’s usually to announce testing on the dev server. If a user posts a DL problem in the Pro forum, that’s their choice (and arguably the wrong forum—it’s a plus feature and should go in bug reports). So to,repeat, please give a repeatable (so we other users can duplicate it—I don’t represent r20) problem where DL is not acting as advertised and hopefully we can solve it.

Several of my players get super lagged out when I use it. Emphasis mine. Unless you intend to likewise post in good faith, I will assume you are trolling.
AFOW DL and ADL are all linked - especialy since the mess made by Roll20. Seems you, like Roll20, have no interest in the full truth just the truth you want to push. If you cannot see this then I feel sorry for you. I'm leaving this discussion there, as you clealy are blind or worse.
