Hey there, I'm Hawk and as the title says, me and my players are currently looking for someone to join us as we explore the Twin Continents of Ael'Lyssandar, a completely Homebrewed setting that we've been adventuring in for the last 6 months. For a bit of context, our group originally started as players in another homebrewed campaign-to-be, but as they do, the DM vanished into the night a few hours before game time, so we all found ourselves back to square one, but with pre-made characters raring to go. Since the hard work was already done, we then decided that we might as well use those characters, and I volunteered to run a one shot in my own world, adapting the backstories as needed. Flash forward a few weeks, and the one shot turned into a full campaign. That being said, while things have been going mostly well for us since we started, life had to happen at some point, and one of my players had an unfortunate change in work schedules, resulting in us being down a man for the foreseeable future. This brings us to this post, as we now have an open slot for a player who might be willing to join this dysfunctional band of adventurers as they fumble their way through the land. So what exactly are we looking for in a player at our table? Well, mostly we're looking for someone who will consistently show up when we're playing, and have fun while we're there. The time slot for the game really can't be moved for reasons I'll get into below, so before applying, make sure that your Saturday nights are clear on a weekly basis. We're also a group that leans heavy on the RP, so while there will be combat, be prepared for long stretches of player interaction, and if you're in it mostly for the combat, this may not be your type of game. We also expect a minimum of sound clarity coming from your side, as we'll be running the game on Discord. No need to have a studio-level microphone, just make sure it doesn't sound like shit and that the background noise is kept to a minimum, and we'll have no issues there. So we've talked about what we want from YOU, but what about us then? What are we like? Well, speaking for myself, I'm a 24 year old Canadian dude who likes to make people laugh and roll dice on Saturday evenings. This campaign is actually the first time I've DMed, but since we've been going to 6 months and my players haven't run for the hills yet, I must be doing something right. Speaking of players, the group is mostly composed of experienced D&D players, most of them having DMed at one point or another, with a solid grasp on the rules and mechanics of the game and Roll20. While that may be daunting for newer players, I assure you that we understand that not everyone has the same amount of experience with the game or Roll20, and welcome players of all levels. As mentioned above, the party loves to roleplay, so RP is a central point of our group dynamic, but at the same time, we don't try to take ourselves too seriously. Be prepared for jokes and the occasional fourth wall break. As for their characters, well so far they've reached level 5, and the party consists of a Sorcerer, a Bard and a Paladin, with the player currently unavailable playing as a Fighter. Feel free to play anything you like, however, we're not picky. Lastly, let's briefly cover the setting we've been playing in. Ael'Lyssandar is my personal creation, a Homebrewed world taking inspiration from various official D&D lore and with a history spanning several thousand years. It is a high magic world, where it is commonplace to carry around trinkets of low level enchantments, and where entire towns are built around the practice of the arcane or divine arts. The land is split into three major regions across two continents, with the party currently exploring the Western half, but the world itself is vaster than these location. The races in my game also have custom backstories that makes them unique in Ael'Lyssandar, but getting into details here would make this post humongous. I think that about covers the basics. Couple things before we wrap up: As mentioned above, the time slot cannot be moved, because one of our players is all the way across the globe from us. The game starts at 8 AM for them, so we can't start earlier, and I have work the next morning, so we start much later either. Based on everyone's schedules, Saturday is the ideal day for us too, so we also can't move the day. Speaking of time, the game usually runs for around 4 to 5 hours every week, but some days we start a little late if someone has a hold up. Make sure you can stay until around midnight EST, or you'll be missing the end of some sessions. If you're made it this far, thanks for reading all that! If what I wrote above sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to shoot me a PM or add me on Discord: HawkWolf613#3742 for more information. Next game will be on January 11, so we'll take applications into consideration until then.
