[LF1P][D&D 5e][EST] Homebrew, low magic, story driven, rp heavy game saturdays 7pm-11pm

This is a long running campaign and the initial orientation will take a bit of time investment for character creation.  We're currently looking for 1 more player for a story and rp driven  Heroic  campaign on Saturdays. Aspects of problem solving, explorations and combat will still be present. This campaign dives into the political aspects of the world and races have a heavy influence on psychology, culture and lore. As a limited race campaign, only Dwarves, Halflings, Humans, Genasi (every genasi subrace is completely different from each other) and Dragonborn are playable. With races having different psychology than humans in the base game, I wanted to fully explore this difference and how their culture and mindset affects them. This means you won't be able to play them as re skinned humans, but actually have to get into that mentality. The campaign is set on an island with a mixed climate of grassland and desert, with the group mainly in the desert. Thematically, it's similar to the Witcher series, drawing from some aspects of the world as inspiration. Sometimes there is no good choice, but only the best one you can make at the moment.  I want to emphasize the Heroic part, as good alignments are the most optimal way to play this. Evil is banned. Because RP is a main factor, there are multiple ways to accomplish your goals. Paths throughout the story are flexible and allow players freedom to choose how they want to approach an issue. Combat does not always have to end in conflict, rather players have the option to resolve it through speech and other methods. The world itself is moving along even if you aren't, so events can change or be missed depending on how you play. This is also a low magic campaign, however, there are homebrew rules that supplement this. The group currently needs a melee homebrew variation of a spell-less paladin or modified warlock that's melee oriented to fit the campaign. I expect players to be respectful, engage in the story, not meta game to an extent, it happens), and to not slow down the game with arguments about ruling/other reasons
I have a few questions, first is whether or not new players are allowed. My second is also whether younger players are allowed. One thing I would like cleared as well is what do you mean by their psychology, as whether you are thinking about them as they are based upon stuff like survival instincts or something broad like that, or closer to the specifics, as in their preferences and their overall... I don't know, but that would be helpful to have cleared.
New players are allowed, however it is a lot to take in from the start, there's a lot of world building and information to learn so it might be difficult getting your bearings for the first few months.  Younger players are allowed, but oftentimes you have to make difficult decisions that will test morality. In the past, players have had trouble staying in character because some of these themes are something people personally believe strongly in. I'd say people around 18-20 had a difficult time with this part. The Psychology of the races refers to general mindsets and traits by other non human races. For example, dwarves are always slow to trust and stubborn. Some things you can't change about a race, making humans the most flexible in terms of mindset. this more plays into the alignment system, it's very difficult for some races to fall out of their usual alignment because their traits heavily encourage a specific alignment (example being dwarves and lawful good in this case). A real world example can be something like why do cats behave they way they do, because it's in their nature, they are chaotic by nature.

Thanks for clearing that. How do i technically apply? One thing for me to mention is that I know a lot of stuff about d&d, just never have actually played a game. I also have a good handle in roleplaying, and I know how to make such decisions, based on my "experience" in roleplaying.
wait you mean young by 18-20?
Alexander A. said: wait you mean young by 18-20? Yes, I consider that young for this game. There are some more mature themes in the game that incite thought. If you wish to apply, send me a private message with a bit of information about yourself and what type of player you are.
So I that would mean that under such age, I personally would not be able to be included, is this correct?
how old are you exactly? The world is influenced a decent amount by how the Witcher world is portrayed, it's brutal, you may not always get recognition for good deeds and at times, common people are just as monstrous as any demon or ghost. this isn't all the time, there are good out there, but it's not a peaceful and friendly world.
I am 13 1/2
hello?
hmmmmm?
I guess that my hypothesis was correct
yea, you're too young and your impatience gives me more reason to reinforce the age limit.
My impatience actually was from the averaging of the space in between your response times, but overall I completely understand your choice in this matter, and I wish you well on your campaign.
Hello, I am a pen and paper RPG player of over 5 years now and enjoy heavy RP and character development focused games. If you are still in need of a player let me know and we can discuss further.
Another spot has opened, available classes are barbarian, spell less ranger, homebrew spell less paladin (short rest based class) and a homebrew warlock that functions more as a melee/caster hybrid.
Hi, I've been playing for about 6 months but I'm a fast learner and I'm looking for a heavy RP game. I have a ranger I would like to play, but I'm still learning the ropes. I don't mind doing research however. I would love to have the opportunity to play with and learn from a group like yours! If you're still looking for a member please send me a message!
we've filled on 4 spots, but realized a 5th would help round out the group. Currently looking for a Homebrew variant of a spell-less paladin (the only changes are the spells, which are more like maneuvers and recharge on a short rest, and you have built in smite charges) and a homebrew variant of a warlock (more melee oriented, you get extra attack and a fighting style as baseline and you're a half caster. features are added to balance it out to around the same power as paladin).
Hello, I'd be interested! Warlocks are my favorite class so I'd be interested in learning more about the homebrew variant you're learning towards. I've planned on and off for the past five years. I'd love to hear more about your group and plans.
