Bar changes on every token

D&D 5e with the Roll20 character sheet. Using Google Chrome. When I have multiple tokens for an NPC on the VTT and I go to change the value for one of the tokens, it changes the value for all of them at the same time. This is extremely inconvenient when trying to track ever-changing statistics such as hit points or rounds of concentration. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a legitimate bug?

Sounds like you accidentally have the hp on the token linked to the character sheet. For NPC's you generally don't link the stats to the sheet because there's only 1 character sheet for that creature. If all the tokens represent this one character sheet and they are all linked to that 1 sheet's hp, than changing the hp on one token changes them all.The fix is to open up the token settings and on the right side, remove any of the things in the dropdowns, then set this new version of the token as the default for that character sheet. Here's a wiki entry on making those types of characters https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals
I went searching for a page like this and couldn't find it. I feel like an idiot now. I assumed that I would want the token linked to the character sheet so that the bars would auto-populate when I dropped them from the Journal to the VTT. I suppose just having the numbers saved in the bars works. Thank you!

They can still auto-populate without being linked. Here's the setting I use:
