Game Summary for Sunday Evening (01/05/2020):

It is now 26 days into the adventure (since setting off in the Belle Venture), and 4:15 pm on day 20 on the isle.

It is now August 19th.

The Adventurers, having just finished up all they feel they can do in the vaulted room with the reversed gravity ceiling, decide to move on and Grax tries to unlock the door with the new jade key he had just found. The wooden door unlocks and Grax opens it into a long north going passage.

They see the floor here is covered in mud up to their ankles, so some probing around in the mud is done, when Coal, blade moves a moldy, muddy silken pouch near the north door of the reversed gravity ceiling room. Inside the pouch is found a crystalline key with a red tassel.

They continue north west until they mud gets shallower and the floor dryer, when they come into a new chamber area that is more like a shaft with an open roof, which is covered in vines. It is approximately 35 to 45 feet wide and 90 feet in length.

Area Description:

This chamber is evidently a blacksmith’s workshop. In the center of the room is a circular forge about 3 feet high.

Connected to this is a large bellows apparatus. Stacked about the edges of the room are wooden shafts, crude iron bars, short swords, 3 tubs of liquids, a table of tools, a large stack of cordwood, a smaller mound of charcoal, and a

large chest. Chained to the bellows are two young human men, listless and exhausted looking. The ceiling is open

to the sky, but is shrouded by many vines that form a network overhead. It is apparent that this chamber is actually

some sort of shaft.

 

Slave #01 says, “Hello folks! Are you merchants travelling into the city?”

Cassandra says, “City?”

Coal says, “Why yes we are. Do you have any news for us today?”

Balen asked, “You gents are excellent ambassadors. You are to be commended. Why is it that you are stationed HERE when you could be so helpful elsewhere?”

Slave #01 says, “We are blacksmiths, you want to help us?”

Grax, goes to check out the chest. Sheila, looks at a table of tools to see if any can be used to free the slaves.

Suddenly falling from various spots above the party are individual sized nets!

Slave #01 exclaims, “Aww fuck!”. Slave #02 exclaims, “Oh Shit!”

Maevis, gets tangled for 6 rounds, Balen for 2 rounds and Cassandra for 11 rounds. -4 rounds if they have a dagger to use to cut the netting.

Next thing they know, javelins come flying down at them from the vine canopy!

Initiative rolls are made.

 

Round 1 of Combat!

Tasloi #12 missed Phicenta with the javelin!

Balen gets nicked by a javelin for 1 damage from Tasloi #06!

Tasloi #09 and #10 missed Rowan!

Tasloi #03 missed Sheila!

Cassandra, having a dagger starts cutting the netting on her, which will now take 7 rounds to free herself.

Xilicien, unleashed a Web spell up into the vine canopy, webbing a 40 ft x 40 ft area!

Only 1, (#12), of 7, (#05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11), within the webbing area makes a successful saving throw vs spell, to be able to move at half speed, the rest are stuck fast with the possibility of suffocating!

Tasloi #02 missed Coal with his javelin!

Camlin, using his long bow fires an arrow up into the canopy in the area he believes netting came down at -4 To Hit due to vine and branch cover and hits Tasloi #05 for 3 hit points of damage!

Tasloi #04, rolls a 20 for a critical hit of 4 double damage!

Grax, using his short bow fires an arrow near where he saw a net come down at -4 To Hit and does 3 damage to Tasloi #12!

Maevis starts cutting away at the netting with is dagger, just stuck for 2 rounds now.

Rowan, using a short bow fires an arrow for 6 damage to Tasloi #10, defeating the tasloi, who comes crashing through the vines onto the ground!

Coal fires an arrow from the magical Foeseeker +1 long bow but missed Tasloi #02!

Sheila, seeing that her Spiritual Hammer spell would just strike vines and branches, decides to go help Maevis cut free of the netting on him.

Phicenta just stays put for now.

2nd Attacks for Round 1:

Camlin fires an arrow for 1 damage to Tasloi #05!

Rowan missed Tasloi #09 with an arrow!

Coal rolls a critical hit roll of 20 for double damage of 12 to Tasloi #02, defeating him as he tumbles to the ground from above!

3rd Attacks for Round 1:

Camlin hits Tasloi #06 for 2 damage with an arrow!

Rowan, missed Tasloi #09 with an arrow!

Coal, missed Tasloi #03 with an arrow!

 

Round 2 of Combat!

Balen, moves to where the two chained blacksmiths, trying to use them as cover and asked, “What’s going on?! Did you know about this?! Are they attacking you?!”

Slave #01 says, “The tasloi are guards protecting the area. They will not harm us unless we help you, but we are shackled anyways.!”

Tasloi #06: 10% chance of suffocating: 33%

Tasloi #09: 10% chance of suffocating: 6% - starts to suffocate.

Tasloi #03, comes climbing down a vine!

Cassandra continues to cut herself out of the netting until round 8.

Xilicien tries tossing his quarterstaff up at Tasloi #12 but missed!

Tasloi #08: 10% chance of suffocating: 6% - starts to suffocate.

Tasloi #11: 10% chance of Suffocating: 4% - starts to suffocate.

Camlin fires an arrow, missing Tasloi #05

Tasloi #04, starts coming down to the ground on a vine.

Grax fires an arrow at Tasloi #11 but missed!

Maevis keeps cutting away at the netting with his dagger, will cut free next round.

Rowan, hits Tasloi #09 with an arrow for 4 damage!

Coal, sees the Tasloi #03 and #04 coming down on the vines and prepares to attack them.

Sheila, still helps with Maevis to cut him free.

Phicenta, stays put.

 

2nd Attacks for Round 2:

Camlin, fires an arrow at Tasloi #05 , for 4 damage and he comes tumbling out of the canopy, defeated!

 

Rowan hits Tasloi #09 for 5 damage with an arrow, and he comes tumbling out of the vines to the ground, defeating him!

 

3rd Attacks for Round 2:

Camlin fires an arrow at Tasloi #06, but missed!

 

And that ends the live gaming session for the night until next time!

Game Summary for Sunday Evening (01/12/2020):

It is now 26 days into the adventure (since setting off in the Belle Venture), and 4:30 pm on day 20 on the isle.

It is now August 19th.

The party continues the fight with the Tasloi Guards, whom were hiding in the smithy chamber’s vine and branches canopy.

Round 3 of Combat:

Tasloi #12, climbs down to the ground on a vine.

Tasloi #06: 15% chance of Suffocating from the web spell: 78%

 Tasloi #03, is now on the ground.

Cassandra, goes invisible using her ring of invisibility and stays put.

Camlin, fires an arrow with the long bow, at Tasloi #03 at point blank range 6’-30’ for 4 damage!

Tasloi #04, reaches the ground now.

Grax, using his magical gauntlets of fencing and the +1 Merthúvial Long sword, hits Tasloi #12 for 10 damage, defeating him!

Maevis, fires an arrow at short range 6’-60’, with the magical +1 composite long bow for 4 damage to Tasloi #04!

Rowan, fires an arrow with the magical +2 Geldered short sword, but missed Tasloi #04!

Coal, fires an arrow with the magical Foeseeker long bow at Tasloi #03 but missed!

Phicenta, hits Tasloi #04 with the two-handed sword for 1 damage, defeating him!

 

2nd attacks for Round 3:

Camlin, fires an arrow hitting Tasloi #03 for 5 damage at short range of 31’ – 70’ ft (specialized weapon), defeating him!

Maevis, fires an arrow for 2 double damage from a critical roll of 20, at short range 6’-60’, on  Tasloi #04, defeating him!

Round 4 of Combat:

Balen, attacks with the magical +1 Calenyanda long sword, but missed Tasloi #03 because he stumbles down dead from Camlin’s 2nd arrow attack in round 3!

End of Combat!

With the Tasloi dispatched and no other attacks currently forthcoming, the party has a look around the smity chamber:

In the center of the room is a circular forge about 3 feet high. Connected to this is a large bellows apparatus.

Stacked about the edges of the room are wooden shafts, crude iron bars, short swords, 3 tubs of liquid, a table of tools,

A large sack of cordwood, a smaller mound of charcoal, and a large chest. Chained to the bellows are the two young men, listless and exhausted looking. The ceiling, is open to the sky, but is shroded by many vines that form a network overhead. It is apparent the room is some sort of shaft.

The party, looks for tools to free the slaves, whom appear to be drugged, as they jibber and ramble on incoherently at times and giggle. Once free, they are given some food and then they run down the east passage, which appears to go to the city and not south out into the jungle.

Looking in the chest, it is seen to be just mundane smithy equipment.

Members of the party decide to go have a look up in the vine canopy, needing 3 dexterity checks to get up there, (1 per 10 ft of travel). Coal makes it up and sees the webbed up area to the south and to the north spots a cave opening covered with vines and tells the others what he sees. Coal makes 2 more dexterity checks to get over to the cave opening and succeeds. Camlin follows up and makes it over to the cave mouth with Coal.

Sheila, tries to climb up as well and takes 1d6=6 damage falling 10 ft and tries again but falls 20ft for 2d6=9 hit points of damage from the fall!

Sheila, heals herself back 5 hit points with her Cure Light Wounds spell.

Xilicien, climbs up only to fall 30ft for 11 damage!

Coal and Camlin, then try hoisted the others open with rope, that they tie around themselves and Sheila gets pulled up.

Camlin, enters the cave first, followed by Coal and Sheila, and gets a javelin thrown at him which missed!

Camlin, fires off an arrow with the long bow but fumbled the shot and missed Tasloi #02 at medium range of 71’-140’. He makes a successful dexterity check rolling 14 and needing 17 and stays on his feet without going off-balance.

Camlin, then makes a saving throw vs spell but fails, rolling 6 and needing ≥  13. A Cause Fear was cast upon Camlin, by a Yuan-Ti snakeman, causing him to run away for 8 minutes)! Camlin, pushes past Coal and Sheila, successfully climbs down a vine at the entrance, (The one that was seen to be pulled up earlier.) and continues to run south back to where the rowboats are.

At this point Cassandra, flys up to the vine canopy on her broom, when she sees Sheila trying to climb down and has her get on the broom and lowers her, then goes back up to get coal down.

Others in the party chase after Camlin, and when he’s in a rowboat trying to get away, Flint just holds onto the boat to keep it from moving off.

The party decides to rest for 8 hours here and without anyone disturbing them, they all regain 1 hit point if needed. Plus, all spell slot restored.

Sheila cast a Cure Serious Wounds spell upon herself for 12 hit points restored then heals 6 back for Xilicien.

Sheila cast her last Cure Light Wounds spell for the day on Coal, healing back 1 hit point.

Using a Staff of Healing, Xilicien, heals back 5 on Xilicien, 2 on Balen, 3 on Rowan, 5 on Phicenta, 3 on Grax. The Dungeon Master makes note of the number of charges used and subtracts it from the total left.

Sheila cast Cure Light Wounds on aMaevis for 8 hit points healed.

It is now 12:45 am on August 20th.

 

And that ends the live gaming session for the night until next time!

Game Summary for Sunday Evening (01/19/2020):

It is now 27 days into the adventure (since setting off in the Belle Venture), and 12:45 am on day 21 on the isle.

It is now August 20th.

 

After resting on the shore of underground stream for 8 hours with no one coming by, the party heads back for the smithy chamber. Maevis tells everyone with a dagger to have them ready in case nets come down from the vine canopy again. They move cautiously to the opposite side of the room and note the large vine along the north wall has been raised, along with all the others the tasloi came down on.

They have Cassandra the witch turn invisible and scout up ahead on her flying broom. Cassandra returns to report that there is a long rope bridge up ahead. So the party proceeds from the passage in the smithy chamber’s north east side and goes to the area where the roped bridge is.

Area Description:

At this point, a large chasm intersects the tunnel. Neither opening has a ledge large enough to stand upon, but both openings are connected by a swinging 145 feet long bridge. This is fastened at both ends by large stone rings set in the cliff face.

Cassandra flies across the chasm on her flying broom to have a look at the other side and sees that there is another opening 40 feet above the opposite side bridge opening, partially covered in vines, of which several tasloi are standing watch and there are several piles of large rocks up there as well.

Cassandra then flies to the bridge opening below the tasloi guard post and sees that it is guarded by two huge subterranean lizards, chained to the walls.

Cassandra, flies Meavis over to the other side just far enough out to cast set him down and cast a web spell up at the tasloi, (you can not cast spells from a flying broom unless it is via a rod, staff or wand). The webbing snares 4 of the 6 tasloi completely and they begin to risk suffocation. The other two tasloi can move at have movement rate.

Long Bow (Max range of 210 feet), users in the party start firing arrows all of which miss, Coal fumbling an arrow in the process but catches it before it falls away out of reach.

Suddenly from behind the party a tasloi tries to net Balen but fails!

 

Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins:

Tasloi #06, missed Xilicien with a thrown javelin!

Maevis, now casts Fireball upon the two Subterranean lizards dealing the full 29 hit points of damage due to both failing their saving throws vs spell!

Tasloi #05, throws a javelin at Balen but missed!

Tasloi #01, throws a javelin at Balen, hitting for 5 damage!

Cassandra, had moved back to be with the party and now moves to cast a Tasha’s Uncontrollable Laughter spell at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but he makes the Saving Throw vs Spell rolling 13 and needing 13.

Tasloi #03, throws a javelin at Phicenta, but missed!

Tasloi #02, throws a javelin at Balen, hitting for 3 damage!

Rowan, fires an arrow with his short bow at point blank range 6 – 30ft, hitting tasloi #05, sending him flying backwards dead, dealing 10 hit points damage!

Tasloi #04, throws a javelin at Rowan but missed!

Sheila, swings her magical +2 footman’s mace at Tasloi #04 and missed!

Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Snake man, cast a Cause Fear spell at Rowan but he makes his save vs spell rolling 18 needing 9!

Coal, fires an arrow with the magical +1 Foeseeker longbow but missed the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood!

Camlin, fires and arrow with the long bow, hitting Tasloi #04 for 5 damage!

 

2nd Attacks for Round 1:

Rowan, fires an arrow, hitting Tasloi #04 for 4 damage!

Coal, fires an arrow, hitting the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood for  4 damage!

Camlin, fires an arrow, hitting Tasloi #03 for 7 damage!

 

3rd Attacks for Round 1:

Coal, fires an arrow, hitting for 13 damage at point blank range on Tasloi #04, defeating him!

 

Round #02 of Combat:

Due to a screw up let’s just move Xilicien’s Web Spell casting here!

Tasloi #02 and the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood make their saves vs spell, so they move at half speed.

Tasloi  #01, #03, #06 are snagged in the webbing and risk suffocating! At 5% risk none of them are suffocating yet.

Maevis, cast Burning Hands spell at the Subterranean Lizards! Lizard #01 takes 17 damage while Lizard #02 takes 9 damage for making it’s saving throw vs spell. Lizard #01 is defeated!

Cassandra, tries to cast Charm Monster, at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood, but the spell did not work due to the Yuan-Ti’s level (8) being 1 higher than hers (7).  

10% chance of Suffocation for Tasloi #03 and rolls 10% so he starts suffocating from the webbing!

Tasloi #02, moves through the webbing trying to reach Balen.

Sheila, missed Tasloi #02 with her magical +2 footman’s mace.

Yuan-Ti HalfBlood tries to cast a Suggestion spell upon Grax! Grax Rolls a 15 needing  9 and the Suggestion is unsuccessful!

Coal, fires an arrow at Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but missed!

Xilicien, cast the Ray of Enfeeblement upon the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood. The Yuan-Ti rolls a 1 needing 13 so his strength score is reduced (33%) from 16 to 11! He starts to run away!

Tasloi #02 is defeated here, not sure how!?

Camlin, fires an arrow at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but missed!

 

Round #03 of Combat:

Tasloi #06, has 15% chance of Suffocation: Rolls 65%

Maevis, fires an arrow at Subterranean Lizard #02 but missed!

Tasloi #01, has 15% chance of Suffocation: Rolls 9% and starts to suffocate!

Tasloi #03, is defeated from suffocation

Coal, fires an arrow at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood using his ring of free action in the webbing, hitting for 5 damage!

 

Round #04 of Combat:

Maevis, fires an arrow and missed the Subterranean Lizard #02!

Tasloi #01, dies of Suffocation from the webbing!

Yuan-Ti HalfBlood, hits Coal with his footman’s mace for 4 damage!

Coal, fires an arrow at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but missed!

Camlin, fires an arrow but it gets snagged in the webbing!

 

2nd and 3rd Attacks for Round #04:

Only Coal can attack both arrow shots hit the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood for  11 and 5 hit points damage!

 

Round #05 of Combat:

Tasloi #06 starts to Suffocate with a 25% chance rolling 19%!

Maevis, fires an arrow but missed Subterranean Lizard #02!

Yuan-Ti HalfBlood, missed Coal with his footman’s mace!

Coal, missed the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood with an arrow shot!

 

Round #06 of Combat:

Tasloi #06, dies from suffocation from the webbing!

 

Maevis, fires an arrow but missed Subterranean Lizard #02!

Yuan-Ti HalfBlood, tries to cast Polymorph Other upon Coal but Coal rolls a saving throw of  17 needing 13!

Coal, fires an arrow at Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but missed!

 

2nd and 3rd Attacks for Round #06:

Coal fires two more arrows at the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood but missed!

 

Round #07 of Combat:

Maevis, fires an arrow missing Subterranean Lizard #02!

 Yuan-Ti HalfBlood, missed Coal with his footman’s mace!

Coal, hits the Yuan-Ti HalfBlood with an arrow at point blank range 6-30 ft for 13 damage, defeating him!

Camlin, gets onto the bridge to fire an arrow shot at the Subterranean Lizard #02 but missed!

 

2nd Attacks for Round #07:

Maevis, fires an arrow missing Subterranean Lizard #02!

Coal, fires an arrow missing Subterranean Lizard #02!

Camlin, fires an arrow missing Subterranean Lizard #02!

 

3rd Attacks for Round #07:

Coal, fires an arrow missing Subterranean Lizard #02!

Camlin, hits the Subterranean Lizard for 1 damage with an arrow!

 

At this point because the lizards are restrained, we just let the arrows fly:

Coal and Camlin fire arrows that both missed the Subterranean Lizard #02!

Coal then hits it for 3 damage followed by Maevis for 6 damage to finally defeat the Subterranean Lizard #02!

 

It is now 1:30 am on August 21st. And that ends the live gaming session for the night until next time!
