I'm an inexperienced D&D player looking for someone to teach me how to play and a group to play with.

I've been looking for a D&D group that is truly new player welcoming and am having trouble locating one. So far the groups that say new players welcome are not looking for inexperienced players but rather new experienced players which I am not. If you are patient, friendly, don't mind being asked questions, are willing to teach me and are preferably an adult, I would love to learn the game and play with you. I am not available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. I am on EST. I can play in the evenings and on the weekend. I would prefer short sessions/campaigns until I get the hang of things.
Hi, Peppermint. I've meant to reply a few times, but am at work and.. well, you know how that goes. Anywho, I'm running a D&D game that will be kicking off on Sunday, at 7pm CST, so 6pm your time. Plan is to stay on this schedule, bi-weekly, but we'll see how it goes. Everybody is starting out with new, 1st level characters - very beginning kind of stuff. I had 5 folks say they wanted to play, only 2 have gotten back to me as of today, so I've opened it up. I have no problem with 'newbies', in fact, the last game I ran had a grandfather and his 8 year old granddaughter as players (she celebrated the team beating the bad guy by jumping into the river surrounding the city, and later took our other female out into town looking for a shop to get her hair tinted!). I've never been big with 'the rules', so my games are very light on that end of things. Much more interested in the players having fun and enjoying the game. Since we start this Sunday, feel free to cruise by and join my game if you'd like to. Bunch of good folks (if they all show up), everything between folks of my era (I remember buying the original books as they came out back in the 70's, and DM'ing my high school friends in the late 70's) to my co-worker at my new job, who is 22 and a Army Reservist, and his fiancé - both of whom played other games, but not D&D. Feel free to email me at jallan7982@yahoo.com with any questions, I'd be happy to talk to you. Also, no need to buy any of the books, unless you like to read them (lot nicer than the old ones, that's for sure - the art looks like it was done by professionals now!). You can find everything you need to play online, for free. So, feel free to contact me if you would like more information. We have at least 2 other folks not used to playing, one of my old friends from HS who hasn't played since about 1980, and imagine I'll add a few more before Sunday. We'd be happy to have you and help you learn the ropes. (edit).. oops.. forgot to add the link to my game if you wanted to visit. Not much there yet, as we haven't actually met yet. https://app.roll20.net/join/5674088/kLI5uA

Hey Peppermint! I have a small community that I run which helps people learn the basics of DnD, how to make a character, and a couple of simple but fun one-shots that are built to help people learn DnD. If you are interested, please feel free to check out our community page (which has further information for the discord and games) and our one shot. Feel free to jump in the discord or PM me on roll20. Good luck learning, and we hope to see you join us soon! - Drew, The Smiling DM https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/187252/gamershrinks-school-of-dnd https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/187835/escape-from-crustfall-manor
