Contract Negotiations 2018/07/20 Friday Kismet takes a few days to get her classes transferred from Metropolis to New York . The universe continues to torture her when all her applications to any institution of higher learning are responded favorably by Empire State University . Since she can go nowhere else she resigns to attend the alma mater of Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom, a place where Stegron the Dinosaur man and The Lizard served as professors. Marvel Girl, wanting to connect with the people, schedules herself on several talk shows. After her first radio show she gets a call from Ivy Pearl, the PR agent for the Prometheus Foundation, telling her to knock it off. She ( Pearl ) will set up the interviews and personal appearances for her. Marvel Girl agrees after Pearl promises to (try) get her on the Conan Obrian show. Apex and Atticus go on patrols looking for bad guys to protect the people of New York form. Paladin goes to see Cassandra Clemon, the groups benefactor, to discuss the groups contracts. Paladin let her know that the group wanted more money, disability insurance, and a guaranteed disability pension if too badly injured. In exchange Paladin offered nothing but pointed out after defeating Superman the Prometheus Foundation would take in a lot more money from merchandizing and such. Cassandra offered to double the base pay of the group across the board, the disability insurance, and the disability pension but not before she mentioned the costs of rebuilding Cold Water New York, the warehouse, cars, hangaring their space ship, paying for transportation, and providing access support from her, and Prometheus’ contacts. Paladin said he had hoped that she would not have mentioned those things but agreed to carry her proposal to the group. As Paladin left her office he ran into Pearl Ivy who wanted the Brooklyn Brigade to go and dine at Racks BBQ Restaurant and comment on the quality of their food and the food only. Paladin does not want to be associated with Racks and thinks that the reputation on the Brigade would be sullied if they did. He did agree to bring this to the group too and let the team decide. Back at the base no one was willing to embrace Racks EXCEPT Marvel Girl. She wanted to be a waitress there. Pearl Ivy called Racks owner Lacey Bradley and set it up. Sunday Marvel Girl went to training and orientation while Racks was closed Monday Marvel Girl went to work as a Rack’s Girl.   Marvel Girl discovered the whips were trick-whips that left fake marks but did no harm. She learned that the branding irons were props and the branding pads were special effects. The staff were friendly and most of them were hired from the Distorted Prism Modeling Agency. Tuesday the group hears Marvel Girls report. They decide that she can say what she wants about the restaurant but the Brooklyn Brigade will, as an organization, will remain silent. Marvel Girl went on record saying that: At Racks the Food is great, the service is great, and the staff is treated like family! Pearl Ivy was not happy but was satisfied. Atticus reaches out to the Canadian Sentinels to offer friendship and propose that the two groups could work together in the future. Wednesday Skylark, the leader of the Canadian Sentinels, called Atticus back. He accepted Atticus’ offer of friendship. Atticus provided Skylark with direct phone numbers to the group so he wouldn’t need to go through the base switchboard if aid was needed. Knowing that Cassandra was working on new contracts Paladin researched Prometheus Medical Technologies, their subsidiaries, who they owned partial stock of, and how much Prometheus Medical invested in the Prometheus Foundation. He learned that PMT completely funded the start of the Foundation but opened it up to other contribution afterward. The Foundation charter states that, ideally, contributions and merchandizing will fund its ongoing concerns. If this fails the foundation head, Cassandra at the moment, can apply for grants from the government. Cassandra sends the new contracts to the group for review and signatures. The team is pleased with everything the Prometheus Foundation offered but (Paladin primarily) balked when she wanted the rights to the individual heroes names into perpetuity. She wanted to be able to use the names and likeness to fund the foundation even if the hero in question left. She said that if the hero wanted to continue being a hero they would have to change his name but he could still be a hero. If the foundation retained the copyright she agreed that the hero would receive 10 percent of the residual income. Unable to reach an agreement Cassandra said she would kick the matter back to legal and get back to the team in a couple of days. Thursday the base is visited by Amelia Von Doom. She came to remind Paladin of the message her sister Cynthia sent. Paladin needed her to explain. When Hamani (the human-cat hybrid) and her Bulettes attacked she dropped a map of the sewers as she escaped. One of the spots on the map was marked as the base. The only other spot that was marked was labeled ‘Glove Cleaner’. They travel to the location identified and are outside a door. To be continued….
