Hi guys. I'm exploring my options of having a more digital asset sharing solution for our face-to-face gaming sessions. I was thinking that Roll20 might be perfect for it, given that it is platform agnostic and also (supposedly) work on iPads, which is great as not everyone in the group has laptops to bring etc, but those who don't have laptops indeed do have iPads. Digital maps, character sheets, dice rolls etc, and I am thinking if it
all works, the fog-of-war stuff is so useful it would itself make it all
worth it. However, no matter how I try I can't get the iPad app to behave in any fashion that is close to usable. It simply won't load. If I manage to trick it to at least log-in (which means logging in, closing the app and re-opening it again), if I try to connect to my test game session it opens up a web browser window where it tries to talk to stripe.com (??) and also tries to load an image (the outline placeholder of it can be seen) though it fails at both connecting to anything relevant on stripe.com or load the image. That is where it ends. If I flip back to the app itself it now has 4 buttons at the bottom of the screen, and none of them can be clicked or otherwise interacted with. Searching this forum (before posting this very post) it looks like these are known problems (for everyone) and that the current iPad app version (2.01) actually isn't functional (despite being over one year old...the last update note says it was to make it compatible with iOS 11...we are these days at iOS 13). Is that actually the case, or have I missed something? Is it because I'm currently testing with a "free" account (as I wish to validate if this is a solution I can move forward with before shelling out cash)? Is there an update planned for the iOS app? Or should I look at other solutions for what I'm trying to achieve?
