Greetings,
I wanted to share this hack I figured out for creating your on avatar and token for your character even if you are not a GM. This requires a Plus level subscription on Roll20 and a GM willing to temporarily give you the permissions needed in their game.
1) Create a sandbox game on Roll20. You don't need to do anything with it except steps below.
2) Ask your GM to allow you to export your character from their game. You will do this using the Roll20 Character Vault:
3) Import the Character to the Vault:
4) Export the Character to your Sandbox Game:
5) Go to Hero Forge and use their free editor to create your character. You can do this without logging into their site to do this so this is public domain artwork you are making.
6) Take screen shots of two views of your character. Mine were 1037 x 893 pixels for the token and 1010 x 1195 pixels for the avatar. Use the editor to capture a view looking down for the token and straight on for the avatar. This is my half elf war mage:
7) Launch your sandbox game.
8) Click the Art Library token and upload both the token artwork to your My Library:
9) Drag the uploaded token artwork to the map:
10) Edit the token and associate it with the character:
11) Edit the character and upload the avatar artwork into the avatar holder:
12: Export the character out of your sandbox game back to your character vault.
13: Export the character back into your GMs game.
Done.
