I apologize if this has been asked numerous times...

...but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm new at this, so my question is how does one get their character sheet inputted on this site? Do I wait to be accepted into a game and then get it added? Thank you for listening. Mike

If you are asking how to make a character, you can create your own game and make as many as you like. If you join a game you might be able to move the character into that game using the Character Vault depending on the game's settings, but many GMs prefer that you actually build the character in their game, to ensure a good fit. We can give you more information but it would be helpful to understand exactly what you are asking: How to make a character, or how to design a character sheet.

I've rolled a character on paper that I was going to use for a table top 5e, but if I can input all my info, even if I have to re-roll it I will. Do I have to be invited to a game first then make the character?

As keith said, you can make as many characters as you want. Just Create a New Game, as if you were the GM, and you'll be able to add characters in the game and design themm Then you can export them to the Character Vault, to import them into other GMs games when you finally get invited to a group. Check out the wiki for help on the basics like this.
also if your dm has it set up you can with a script load character sheets from sites like dnd byond stright to roll20

Lemming Fallen said: also if your dm has it set up you can with a script load character sheets from sites like dnd byond stright to roll20 I'd be careful about getting people's hopes up with statements like this. You have to be playing a game which has a character sheet that supports this, and there are only a couple that I know of that do. The vast majority don't. And those that do require it in a very specific format - you can't just import from any old sheet.

Just informing them of all options so ppl can ask their dm i dont do it either because its to much a hassle and characters are so easy to fill out. also you usually have to re buy pdfs on site of books u already own. I've delt with several ppl that use it but they usually have most books unlocked on roll 20 and dnd beyond. (yes its rare for dms to have this enless very dedicated)
Thanks very much for the responses.
Best way is probably to use the charactermancer, A note here is that if you used PHB,Xanathar etc you will need to either buy the book on roll20 or write lots of things manually. (if and only if you create the character in your own game, otherwise you can use the DMs resources ) The good news is that there are a few "games" popping up here and there with the sole purpose of making characters. (PM me if you cannot find one and I'll set one up for you)
