------- CLOSED - DM has requested I close this thread as he is also advertising elsewhere and has too many applications to work through now lol! Either myself or the DM (named Darren), will contact you if he thinks you're a good fit. -------- Hi all, Posting for my DM friend (I'm a player in this campaign). We currently have 4 players and are looking for a 5th. This group has been playing together for some time but this is a brand new campaign that will be starting on Monday 2nd March. We will be using Roll 20 and Discord and will be interspersing Roll 20/Discord voice game sessions with Discord text RP sessions. We aim for real immersion in our games and so use the text RP sessions mostly for inter-party conversations to flesh out the RP and party dynamic (it also buys the DM some writing/preparation time!). What you can expect: A friendly group that can be relied on to turn up every session unless prearranged. Plenty of adult banter / crude language both in and out of character A game more akin to Game of Thrones than Harry Potter in terms of maturity. The flavour will not be 'fun' or 'goofy'. It's likely to be very serious with adult story lines and potentially distressing situations for the party to face. This is an RP heavy campaign, in that when we are in character - we are in character (people don't ask each other in character what their passive perception is, for example). Don't read RP heavy as meaning combat light however... A party of believable and flawed characters to immerse your character into. What we will expect of you: A good attitude and a not too sensitive skin :) A willingness to work with the DM to come up with a character concept that is not going to detract from the flavour of the campaign (he will give you some guidance on this) and is believable. A desire to get involved in the RP - both in voice and in text. 'Quiet' characters just don't work that well in RP heavy campaigns. A good internet connection / microphone. Last and by no means least - Reliability. We are looking for the right person to join the group, not just this campaign and the most important thing we need is someone who is going to turn up when they say they will. If interested, please post below with: a little bit about yourself, including your age and your timezone. your preferred play style your experience (this isn't a deal breaker - our DM started playing back in 1983, but this will be his first time DMing 5e and first time DMing on roll20... so there will be pretty minor teething problems and no-one is expecting anyone to know every rule off the top of their head... but it just builds a picture of who you are). Once we have sorted through the replies (if we get any lol), we'll contact the ones that seem the best fit. Thanks in advance!
Sure, I'll bite 1. Ghost is the name, old as hell is the age. I'm in the EST timezone. 2. I'm a flexible player who enjoys a mixed playstyle. I enjoy roleplay and mechanics both, and I think each is at it's best when it supports (and is supported by) the other. I also have a bit of a thing for "'the old ways" at times. 3. I've been playing for about 15 years and DMing for about 14, and I've got the worst case of foreverDM, so I'd love the chance to be a player for once. If it helps, I'm also pretty handy with the 5e rules and don't mind answering any technical questions players have on the spot/helping to mentor newer players into good game habits.
1. Tim, age 22. Due to 9-5 life, I'd have to leave by 11 PM EST, so if that timing doesn't work for you, it won't work out.  2. I enjoy serious roll play -- that being said I'm not a good voice actor. Depending on the character I'm playing, I might not be the voice of the group, but I won't be silent when discussing options and choices of the party. I enjoy hashing out the party's options: who to trust, what the right thing to do is, or in evil campaigns who we can safely steal from. I can be quite vulgar myself, so maturity is not an issue. I'd love to work with a DM for creative character choices and a background that would play into the story and possibly even plot points 3. I've been playing since I was 16, so I have about 6 years of experience and played in quite a few campaigns, the longest being about a year.
Sounds like an awesome starting point.  Just to be clear, GMT?  You're EU?
A question or three if you will. What is the focus/backstory for the campaign? How long will it be? Lastly, how long are the sessions?
Thanks for all the interest guys... to answer some questions: Yep, GMT. That's UK timezone. Sessions normally start at 7.30pm and finish no later than 11.30pm. Sometimes they will finish earlier due to being at a convenient break or to avoid starting a long combat that we can't finish in the session. Focus of the story - I don't really know, I'm not the DM but I'm getting the impression that the party are going to find themselves embroiled in political intrigue. I suspect that our main adversaries will be other humans/humanoids. Knowing the DM, expect a quite complicated, deep storyline. It won't be rescue the princess or ''go kill those orcs''. :) So, the guys who just asked the questions - if you want to go ahead and tell us a bit about yourselves (if the timezone isn't going to cause you issues), I'm going to tell the DM to come over here and start looking at the applications. Thanks.
1- moroccan(GMT+1) 18 will be 19 next monday  the day of the session but i will usually have to leave at 12pm which is your 11pm max 2-  im fine with any play style heavy RP or more focused on combat - hard or easy 3- only played one game this Sat 22 april
1:  My name is Jack, I am 21, I live in the UK, work 2am shifts typically  2: I am a firm believer that RP makes the game, and combat tends to serve as something to enhance it (says roleplaying game on the books after all) most happy playing clerics, paladins or arcane users 3: limited experience, I have ran two sessions for two separate groups and have future sessions planned with those groups so they couldn't have gone that bad, never had a chance to be a player unfortunately, but hopeful that I could manage it
Thanks all - as per my edit in the OP, applications are now closed. The DM will contact those he thinks are a good fit. Good luck and thanks again for the interest!
