It is now August 21st. Open Scene: The adventurers are inside of a Yuan-Ti Snake temple, having just fought 3 rock pythons in the main altar room and rescuing Zura,  the son of the Matriarch Giannia of Tanaroa, the main village, south of the huge gate on the penninsula of the Isle of Dread and finding two sacks by the altar filled with gold and silver coins and six golden discs and a finely made coil of rope. The group offers to take Zura back to Tanaroa, but he insists on just heading back into the jungle to recover a bit an return home,  once he is shown the way out of the huge crater that houses a swampy lake and Taboo Isle. Zura mentions to the party why the city is called the Forbidden City on Taboo isle, saying that an ancient race called the Kopru, had  caputured the city from his ancestors who fled, a long time ago. The city is now known to be inhabited by the Yuan-ti snake-men. Zura, describes the Kopru, as amphibians of great intelligence and power. Their heads are smooth with large eyes and a tentacled, sphinctered mouths. They have human-like torsos and two arms ending in webbed, clawed hands. From the waist down their bodies consist of three fluke-like tails, each ending in a sharp ripping claw. Zura tells them that because of the evil here and to protect my people from getting killed. The city was Forbidden, after the huge gate and Tanoroa was built. Zura mentions to be careful inside the temple, as he has seen, Yuan-Ti, Lizard men, Headhunters and newts of fire. Zura believes Mongrelmen and Tasloi dwell in the Forbidden City as well. Zura notes that the temple is dedicated to the Yuan-Ti Demon Lord Sertrous, and mentions he could not draw a map of the city as he never got that far. The party tells Zura the way back out of the area, to get back to the jungle and Zura departs. Sheila, cast a cure light wounds and cure serious wounds spell upon Maevis, due to him getting hugged by a rock python healing back 4 and 10 hit points. The party goes to a set of double doors on the west wall of the altar room and Grax looks for a trap and rolls: 49% Needs ≤ 55%, indicating he did not find a trap. Grax, opens the door into a 15 feet long passage with a door in it's north west corner and turning south at it's south west corner. The north west door is opened and inside is a small 15 x 15 ft room with a couple small tables and a chair at each. Nothing more in the room. The party sees a huge tapestry along the west wall of a south going hallway, with two benchs along it's east wall. The tapestry depicting more snake shenanigans with various humanoids. Grax, tries to move silently, rolling 89% Needs ≤ 57%, but fails to do so, he looks around a corner at the end of the 15 ft long south passage to see  two Yuan-Ti Half-bloods, whom spot him and draw their weapons, Sheila whom is behind Grax, cast the Silence 15 ft radius spell, (lasting 14 rounds [minutes]) on YT HB #02, after hearing a Yaun-Ti saying "Who are you? What do you want?, This is a sacred templ of Sertrous, our Lord!" The Yaun-Ti realize they are silenced after seeing Sheila pop up around the corner to cast the spell and they don't hear anything and then attack! Initiative rolls are made and Round #01 of Combat Begins: Rowan and Xilician, moves in closer to the fight, as does Cassandra, after going invisible using her ring of invisibility. Camlin, missed YT HB Priest with his halberd! YT HB Priest, missed Camlin with his glaive! Grax, using his magical gauntlets of fencing, missed YT HB Priest with his broad sword! Sheila, hits the YT HB Priest with her magical +2 footman's mace for 5 damage! Balen, continues to search around the small room to the north but nothing of any value is to be found. Phicenta, hits YT HB #02 for 12 double damage from a critical roll of 20, with the two-handed sword! Meavis, fires an arrow with a magical +1 composite bow at YT HB Priest but missed! Coal, fires an arrow with a long bow but missed YT HB #02! 2nd Attacks for Round #01: Maevis, fires an arrow at short range 6-60ft, but missed YT HB Priest! Coal, fires an arrow at Point blank range 6-30ft, at YT HB #02 and hits for 7 damage! 3rd Attacks for Round #01: Coal, fires an arrow at PBR, hitting YT HB #02 for 9 damage! Round #02 of Combat: Xilicien, continues to move. Rowan, missed YT HB Priest with his magical Geldered +2 short sword! Camlin, missed YT HB #02 with his halberd! Cassandra, stays put. Sheila, fumbles her +2 footman's mace trying to attack YT HB Priest! The fumble roll indicates a trip and fall stunned but  Sheila rolls: 11 Needs ≤ 14 on a dexterity check and stays on her feet! Balen peeks behind the huge tapestry on the west wall to see it's solid stone. Phicenta, missed YT HB #03 with the 2-handed sword! Maevis, fires an arrow but missed YT HB Priest! Coal, fires an arrow and hits YT HB #02 for 7 damage! 2nd Attacks for Round #04: Grax, hits YT HB Priest for 12 damage with the broad sword! Maevis, fires an arrow but missed YT HB Priest! Coal, fires and arrow and hits YT HB #02 for 13 damage! 3rd Attacks for Round #04: Coal, fires and arrow and hits YT HB #02 for 9 damage, defeating the Yaun-Ti! Round #05 of Combat! Xilicien, considers casting a spell but a corner wall blocks an accurate aim. Rowan, missed the YT HB Priest with his +2 Geldered short sword! Camlin, missed the YT HB Priest with his halberd! Cassandra, stays put invisibily still. YT HB Priest, missed Rowan with his glaive! Grax, missed the YT HB Priest with his broad sword! Sheila, hits the YT HB Priest with the +2 footman's mace for 6 damage, defeating the Yuan-Ti! End of Combat! Searching the Yuan-Ti halfbloods finds pouches filled with a combined total of 18 gold, 10 silvers and 20 copper pieces. Nothing in the room is found to be valuable enought worth taking. Even though there is a door in the south west side of the room, th party opts to head for the east double doors of the altar room. Grax, attempts to Hear Noise beyond the double doors, rolling Roll: 28% Needs ≤ 25%, and does not hear anything! Grax, then checks for a trap on the door, rolling: 62% Needs ≤ 55% and did not find a trap! Balen, is worried that the two circular stairs going up to balconies surrounding the altar room, may have someone above waiting for  them, as they were obviously heard, when fighting the rock pythons. Grax, opens the unlocked double doors, trying to Move Silently: Roll: 59% Needs ≤ 57%, but is not as quiet as he hoped. When the doors were opened, they now hear chanting in an unfamiliar tongue coming from somewhere down the south going hallway. They see partially into an open room area to the north and branches off the hallway 25 ft away to either side of it. Grax, again attempts to move silently to where he hears the chanting coming from, Roll: 94% Needs ≤ 57%, but again was not as quiet as he hoped to be. However, the chanting still continues. Grax, has a peek around a corner and vaguely makes out 4 shapes in the direct line off sight, straigh ahead into the west side opening. Since the chanting is not in the Yuan-Ti tongue, they believe these to be other beings. Maevis, cast the Web spell into the chapel area, which snags 3 of the 4 lizardmen in the room, which will last for 140 minutes at Maevis's level of 7. The one lizard man that made his saving throw vs the spell, is trying to move through it at half speed. Coal, moves to block the lizardman using his magical ring of free action, entering the lower opening into the chapel, as Grax and Maevis, block the upper enterance. The lizardman seeing that Coal can move effortlessly through the webbing, without fussing with it, simply stops and raises his hands. Coal says, "Hold up, don't attack." The lizardman, emphasizes his arms are raised. When ask whom he is and what he is doing he replies, "I am of the poison dusk lizard tribe, we are here to worship Sertrous." Coal says, "Who is Sertrous?" Lizardman says, "He is our Lord and Savior, who will soon come to rule over all" [Note: The party does have information from the previous party that, Sertrous is not looking to rule over the Earth but to destroy it. One was still able to move at half-speed through the webbing and Coal with his magical ring of free-action was able to confront and start talking to the lizard man, whom was willing to give out information.   The party learns of others inside the temple, including a group of headhunters, awaiting a meeting with the yuan-ti high priest that runs the temple, a female yuan-ti abomination whom is the high priest’s mistress, her yuan-ti halfblood guards (the party had dealt with two yuan-ti halfbloods prior to the lizardmen), and the high priest’s fire newt guards.   Coal, sees a tapestry on the north wall of the chapel area that depicts Sertrous, as a giant multi-headed snake in a battle with humans.   The party decides to, head up the two spiral staircases on either side of the main altar room, in it’s north west and north east corners, which lead up to balcony areas.   Coal then Sheila, who turns invisible with her ring of invisibility head up the west stairs and Coal rolls for surprise and rolls a 3 and so is not. Two Fire Newt’s attack Coal at the top of the spiral stairs!   Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 Begins! Fire Newt #05, hits Coal with his fire breath for 2 damage!   Fire Newt #06, missed Coal because of a fumble roll of 1, which indicates he stumbles but stumbles and falls down for 3 rounds,  after a dexterity check of:   Rolls:  18  Needs ≤  13 result. Grax, stays behind Coal and Sheila on the stairs.   Coal, fires and arrow at point blank range 6-30ft, with the magical Foeseeker +1 long bow for 7 damage to Fire Newt #06!   Sheila, moves up the stairs after Coal, and moves to have a peek around a near corner.   2 nd and 3 rd attacks from Coal for Round #01: 2 nd arrow missed Fire Newt #06, 3 rd arrow hits him for 7 damage!   Round #02 of Combat: Fire Newt #05, missed Coal with his falchion sword! Fire Newt #06, is down for this round and the next!   Grax, moves up the stairs and attacks Fire Newt #05, rolling a critical roll of 20 for 20 double damage, with his broad sword while wearing his magical gauntlets of fencing!   Coal, fires an arrow a PBR, hitting Fire Newt #06 for 13 damage, defeating him!   Sheila, hits Fire Newt #05 with her magical +2 footman’s mace for 9 damage, defeating him! (She becomes visible afterwards).   End of combat!   Nothing of value is found upon the fire newts, other than their weapons; falchion swords and battle axes. Grax, decides to take a fire newt battle axe for a souvenir, tossing it into a magical bag of holding.   Now we turn our attention to the east spiral stairwell. Maevis goes up the stairs first and rolls for surprise and he is not, as two Fire Newts attack him!   Initiative Rolls are made and Combat Round 1 begins: Rowan stays right behind Maevis.   Fire Newt #01, hits Maevis, with his fire breath for 3 damage!   Coal, fires an arrow at short range 31 to 70 ft across the altar room, to hit Fire Newt 1 for 2 damage!   Fire Newt #01 (2), hits Maevis with his fire breath for 1 damage!   Maevis, cast the Magic Missile spell, sending 2 each at the two Fire Newts, dealing 10 damage to Fire Newt #01 and 6 damage to Fire Newt #01 (2)!   Camlin, is behind Rowan, waiting to get up the stairs. Phicenta is behind Camlin.   2 nd and 3 rd attacks from Coal for Round #01: 2 nd arrow hits Fire Newt #01 at short range, for 2 and 3 rd arrow hits for 7 damage defeating the Fire Newt! Round #02 of Combat: Rowan is still behind Meavis on the stairs. Coal, hits Fire Newt #01 (2) for 5 damage with an arrow at short range, defeating him!   End of Combat!   Nothing of value upon the two Fire Newts.   Maevis, moves to a door across a hallway off the east balcony to have a listen for anything beyond it: HEAR NOISE Roll:  85 % Needs ≤  25 % and does not hear anything!   Meanwhile, Coal, an invisible Sheila and Grax move off west off the balcony into a lounge area, then southward into another lounge room with two columns and a snake battle mural on the west wall. Then they proceed eastward across a room width south balcony to meet back up with the rest of the party.   Grax, looks for a trap on the door Maevis, listened at: FIND/REMOVE TRAP:  42 % Needs ≤  55 % ; Grax did not find a trap!   Phicenta, opens the door, into a hallway with two Fire newts to either side of another door way and a snake statue at the hallway’s north end.   Phincenta was not surprised so initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins!   Rowan, fumbles on a critical roll of 1, causing his shield to get tangled with Fire Newt #01!   Maevis, missed Fire Newt #01 with his magical +1 long sword!   Fire Newt #01, works to get untangled from Rowan’s shield!   Fire Newt #01 (2), hits Meavis for 4 damage with his fire breath!   Grax, hits Fire Newt #01 for 9 damage with his broad sword!   Phincenta, missed Fire Newt #01 (2) with his 2-handed sword!   Coal, fires an arrow at PBR for 5 damage to Fire Newt #01!   Sheila, hits Fire Newt #01 (2) for 6 damage with her +2 footman’s mace!   Camlin, stays back from the crowded fight for now.     Round #02 of Combat: Rowan, hits Fire Newt #01 for 9 damage with his magical Geldered short sword!   Maevis, missed Fire Newt #01 (2) with his +1 long sword!   Fire Newt #01, hits Phicenta with his falchion sword for 5 damage, dropping Phicenta, whom is now at -3 hit points and unconscious!   Fire Newt #01 (2), missed coal with his falchion sword!
Grax, using his broad sword hits Fire Newt #01 for 7 damage, defeating him!   Coal, fires an arrow at PBR, hitting Fire Newt #01 (2) for 13 damage, defeating him!   End of Combat!   Sheila, goes over to Phicenta to cast a Cure Serious Wounds spell upon Phicenta, healing 9 hit points, bringing Phicenta to 6 hp’s. Sheila, also cast a Cure Light Wounds on Phicenta, to heal 3 more hit points, bringing total hp’s to 9.   At the door straight across the hall, Grax tries to find a trap: FIND/REMOVE TRAP:  91 % Needs ≤  55 % ; and does not find one!   Maevis, opens the unlocked door and it instantly goes dark!   Maevis, counters the sudden darkness with a Continual Light spell!   Inside is a library study with the Yuan-Ti High Priest as it’s sole occupant!   Initiative rolls are made and Round #01 of Combat Begins! Grax, rolling a critical roll of 20 hits the Yuan-Ti Pureblood priest for 16 double damage, with his broad sword!   Maevis, missed the YT Pureblood Priest with his +1 long sword!   Phicenta, hits the YT PP for 12 damage with the 2-handed sword!   YT Pureblood Priest says, “ How dare you defile the sacred temple of Sertrous!"   Grax says, "It is you and your ilk that defile the world!”   YT Pureblood Priest snarls at Grax and lunges to bite him with a poisonous and acidic bite but missed!   Camlin, missed the YT PP with his halberd!   Coal, fires an arrow at PBR for 11 damage to the YT PP, defeating him!   End of Combat!   Searching the High Priest finds 23 gold, 11 electrum and 9 silver coins in a coin pouch.   In the library room is found two scrolls, which maevis tries to read them but can’t so hands them to Sheila, whom sees that They are a scrolls with clerical spells for Heal and one for Restoration.   The party attempts to rest in the library study room, when during the 3 rd watch with Coal and Balen, keeping guard, the high priest’s mistress, a Yuan-Ti Abomination comes looking for him.   The adventurers had pilled several of the dead bodies against the door, but the Abomination rolls a Strength check: Rolls: 15 needs ≤  19 ; indicating she is able to smash through the door!   Maevis says, “Your lover is dead!!”   The Abomination utters a curse in Yuan-Ti at Maevis!   Initiative rolls are made and Round #01 of Combat begins! Balen, plays his panpipes to start rallying allies for a +1 on “To Hit” rolls!   Sheila, hits the Abomination for 6 damage with her +2 footman’s mace!   Xilicien moves closer to the combat!   Coal, fires an arrow at PBR at the Abomination, but a critical roll of 1, indicates he loses the grip on his weapon but recovers thanks to succeeding on his Dexterity check: Rolls 13 needs ≤  17.   Rowan stays moves in closer to the combat!   Maevis, fires an arrow with the magical +1 composite long bow but missed the Abomination!   YT Abomination, cast the Cause Fear spell at Xilicien! Xilicien rolls a saving throw vs spell: Rolls 7 needs ≥ 10. Xilicien runs to the south east corner of the library cowering in fear for 9 rounds!   Phicenta, stays back for now.   Camlin, missed the Abomination with his halberd!   2 nd Attacks for Round #01: Maevis, fires an arrow but missed the Abomination!     Round #02 of Combat: Cassandra is invisible and stays put.   Balen continues to rally allies for a +1 ‘To Hit’ to take affect next round.   Sheila, missed the Abomination with her +2 footman’s mace!   Xilicien, is still scared out of his wits!   Coal, fires an arrow at PBR, hitting the Abomination for 9 damage!   Rowan, stays put.   Maevis, fires an arrow but missed the Abomination!   YT Abomination, cast a Darkness spell inside the doorway!   No more moves this round due to the Darkness!     Round #03 of Combat: Cassandra, stays put as Balen continues to rally allies which is now in full effect!   Sheila, cast the continual light spell into the area of darkness!   Xilicien, is still scared!   Coal fires an arrow at PBR for 9 damage to the Abomination!   Rowan fires an arrow at PBR for 14 damage to the Abomination!   Maevis, missed the Abomination with his +1 long sword!   YT Abomination, cast the Polymorph Other spell upon Meavis! Maevis rolls a saving throw vs polymorph: Rolls 1 ≥ 11 and fails the save so a System shock roll is made to see if he survives the change into a chicken! Rolls: 54% needs ≤ 55. He survives the change into a chicken!   Phicenta and Camlin stay back.   2 nd attacks for Round 3: Coal, fires an arrow at PBR for 13 damage to the Abomination!   Rowan, fires an arrow at PBR and hits the Abomination for 12 damage!   3 rd Attacks for Round 3: Coal, fires an arrow at the Abomination but missed!     Round #04 of Combat!
