I have dropped a lot of information about Shackled City. But I am happy to provide more. I was asked about the actual world and decided to provide some more information about it. I have so much information about this world, that I could and plan to one day make a campaign book based upon it. So, to start off with, this world was first created by a friend of mine, Ken, about 20 years ago back in old school 1st edition. I played two characters in the game. Vaprak and Morgan Foulbane. One would end up becoming a King, the other would end up becoming a god of several humanoid races. The gods of humans are the Norse and the Greeks. Think of the world as holding onto the Greek mythology but having a feel of an almost high medieval era. The Everland. It was not always the home of humans. Humans came to Everland from over the seas. They were escaping their demon masters. Their evil rulers were not happy that their slaves had run away. But the new land that the humans had fled to was under the domain of different gods. The demon lords could not freely enter the land and claim their chargers. So, humans existed peacefully in their new home. They made allies with the Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and other fair folk and started to embrace their new way of life. Some of the humans migrated to the north and settled in the cold tundra. Those humans became the barbarian tribes, wandering the northern reaches and their patron gods were the Norse. The Norse gods looked upon these brave humans and blessed them. The northern barbarian tribes fought endlessly against the Ogres and Giants that inhabited the north to the delight of the gods. The Humans that settled more to the south became followers of the Greek mythos. These gods also blessed their humans with the land. So, the humans had two major settlements or independent countries, the Northern reaches and the southern City-States. Citadel was the largest of the various city-states and its king was made high King of all the other human kings in the south. The various southern settlements had created a confederacy among themselves and would work out a trade between each other and common laws at a great council of lords. The High King would preside over such. The Elves of Everland were as always very wary of the humans and declared their lands off-limits to humans. Only the very edges of their lands were approachable to the humans and then only for trade. The Gray and Mountain elves lived to the center of the elvish lands as the lords and ladies of the land. The High Elves and Wood-elves lived in villages surrounding the Grey Elvish great castles that were made into the side of Velika Vuori, a large imposing mountain that was laced with mithril mines. The High Elves, most of the elves, were the ones that usually ventured out among humans, while the Wood Elves acted as the rangers and members of the army. Halflings are the rarest of the human-like races and have a few small villages doting the landscape. They do not have any central government and instead elected mayor and sheriffs to help maintain peace and order. Gnomes and halflings are distant cousins of dwarves and s they descended from the dwarves. Their homeland is never far from dwarves’ lands. In game, they are not considered a distinct race. Dwarves are the masters of the forge and live in mountainous regions. They mine precious metal and all Adamantine that is used in Everland. Drow. I do not use them at all in my game. The closest thing to Drow is the Mountain elves, which are elves that known as the craftsman of the elves and fashion great magic weapons and armor.
