3d dice rolling extra dice on the map. (pathfinder 1e, DM)

i am a dm running  a 1st edition pathfinder game. if i open an npc character sheet, and roll an attack - on the map i see way more dice then should be rolled. ie: a single attack with a bastard sword should be 1d20+modifiers, but on the map i get 2 or even 3 d20s rolling. damage dice are the same, if damage roll is 1d10 sometimes i get 2 or even 4 dice rolling across the map. the chat log shows what i would expect, and does not include the additonal dice. is there a way to correct this? i cant find a setting anywhere. ive also tried rejoin as player, and still get the same problem.

It is rolling all those dice.  It rolls for attack, crit confirm, damage, and crit damage.  The roll template (chat) hides the other dice rolls unless a potential crit has been rolled on the attack.  This is normal behavior.
do the other players in the match see all the dice rolled, or just the relevant ones?

If it is a public roll, all see them.  If they are whispered to the DM, then only whoever rolled and the DM see the dice.

This is a limitation of the 3d dice and roll templates. ;-(  When a macro is executed, all the dice are rolled at that time.  Sheet author's can hide/show output based on some basic conditional logic in a sheet's roll template.  3d dice get rolled when the macro is executed but do not get filtered according to the roll template.

paolo p. said: I dadi diventano insopportabili You could just turn off 3d dice and run with what shows in chat.  Rolling all the dice is normal behavior, whether it is a regular user saying it or a Roll20 employee saying it.  That is the way that character sheet and roll template is written.
