D&D 5e Spell "Spiritual Weapon" not using proper dice and higher levels.

I've read the spell thoroughly and even cross referenced a previous thread from two years ago that corroborates my concern.  The spell states that when casting at 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every TWO slot levels above second (e.g. an extra 1d8 using a 4th level slot, an extra 2d8 using a 6th level slot, an extra 3d8 using and 8th level slot, etc.)   However, whenever I select the spell and cast it at higher levels, it adds 1d8 for each slot above 2nd (e.g. 2d8 at level 3, 3d8 at level 4, 4d8 at level 5, etc.).   Can we fix this glitch/problem?
I noticed this myself just recently.  Perhaps one of the brainiacs can give us a solution like a custom damage number to place in the settings of the spell so that it divides your level by 2 for the d8’s or something like that.
