Wednesday August 1, 2018 The leads for tracking down
Bloodmoon and his labs to create a perfect virus to reduce evil modern man to
the level of a noble savage (primitive) status have dried up for the moment.
Marvel Girl suggests that the group try to find, or at least find out what
happened to, a girl she met while working as a ‘reporter’ at Racks restaurant. A girl named Deena sent her
(Marley) a note asking for help, the next day she was fired from Racks (along
with two other girls, Josephine and Rhonda) for soliciting Racks customers for
prostitution. Manfred Saitetta was one of the men solicited, and he happens to
be a investor in Distorted Prism (the modeling agency that provides Racks their
staff). Not only did the girls lose their jobs from Racks but their actions
violated the moral turpitude clause of their contracts with Distorted Prism so
they lost their jobs there as well. The girls were housed by DP at Enchanted
Dreams Inn, so they lost their homes at the same time. The girls were evicted and fired
the previous Sunday night. Marley (MG), Jack (Atticus),
and Paladin dressed in his civies go to Enchanted Dreams and ask around. They
learn that a girl and three muscle-bound guys with a white cargo van came and
packed up the room(s) the girls were lodged in. The Distorted Prism Inn houses
only clients of Distorted Prism and they paid all the bills. They questioned four girls
who were at the dining area of the hotel, Traci Hayes, Alice, Rose, and Brenda.
Of the four only Traci seems to have any knowledge of what goes on in the
Member’s Only Suite at Racks or what happened to Deena, Josephine, and Rhonda. The staff at the hotel and
the girls residing there are not being much help. Marvel Girl (Marley) calls
Distorted Prism and would like a job as a model. She is directed to send her
portfolio, including head shots, along with her resume to [insert address]. If
she fits their needs she will get a call for an interview in a few days. Marley
does not identify herself by name but becomes insistent and demanding until she
gets hung up on. Paladin has Apex [as an NPC] to check traffic cams and
security footage from the area around the hotel to get pictures of the movers
that emptied the room and get a view of the cargo van they used. Most
importantly to get a view of the license plate number. Atticus checks Deena’s
and the other missing girls social media pages and discovers the accounts are
being closed and their social media presence are being deleted. Realizing that Manfred
Saietta is a crime figure Paladin calls Lt. House and asks for someone from New York ’s Organized
Crime Unit (OCU). Detective Joe Nardini calls Paladin after a while. Nardini
tells Paladin that Manfred is a dangerous man and he (Nardini) will tell
Paladin all about him if Paladin brings him a double mocha espresso. Marvel Girl and Kismet both
decide to apply to have Distorted Prism represent them as models. The Brooklyn
Brigade expenses the cost to make their portfolios. The pictures are taken and
the portfolio will be ready Saturday. The Brigade visits Nardini
but Paladin forgot his coffee. He arranges to have a steaming cup delivered
while the discuss Manfred Saietta. They learn a lot of things. The Saietta
family, just the direct family, numbers roughly 400. They are much larger when
you account for their employees and non-related thugs. Manfred owns several
houses and moves every night. Manfred is in his 40s but looks much older
because of his lifestyle and he avoids being in the sunlight. A member of his
family, Vain, a 13 year old puke (as described by Nardini) is Manfred’s biggest
rival for control of the family. Manfred, for the most part, likes the peaceful
(and profitable) status quo but Vain was to sew chaos and amass power in the
aftermath. Vain is the more dangerous of the two. When questioned why the
larger crime families don’t squash the Saiettas Nardini didn’t have an answer.
Rumor has it that larger groups have tried but failed resulting in the relative
peace between the major crime families and the Saiettas. As far as Nardini knows the
Saietta have no metahuman or super powered enforcers. Friday August 3, 2018 Marvel Girl and Kismet
portfolios and resumes are completed. They are put in the mail and are on their
way to Distorted Prism. Apex [NPC] was able to find
the white cargo van’s license plate number. A lack of cameras prevented him
from being able to see where Deena’s stuff was taken. He was able to find out
who the van was registered too: Julianna Delancourt Saietta. Paladin calls
Nardini to see what kind of criminal record Julianna had. Nardini says that Julianna is
a sad story. She has no criminal record and had a normal life until she was
about 12 then her mother died. Her mom fell through an open manhole and broke
her leg. While trapped down there she was devoured by New York Sewer rats. Seeking Julianna’s family
Child Protection Services discovered her father was…Manfred Saietta. Julianna
Delancourt added Saietta as her surname after Manfred became her legal
guardian. Paladin thinks Julianna’s
mother was killed but the coroner ruled the death as accidental. That night Atticus breaks
into the offices of Distorted Prism. He takes some miscellaneous files but his
target are Deena and her friends files, Manfred’s financial information
concerning his connection to Distorted Prism, and the girls who work the
Member’s Only Suite at Racks. He also discovers that Carol Saietta is an
account agent for Distorted Prism and is the one in charge of the Racks
account. He also takes Traci Hayes’ file. Before leaving Atticus checks
Carol Saietta’s office. He finds a closet full of expensive tailored clothes
for a woman and a man. The woman’s sizes are all the same, as are the men’s
clothing. Atticus was unable to gain access to Carol’s computer. When he brings the data back
to the Warehouse (the Brooklyn Brigade’s headquarters) they analyze the
information. Manfred owns 10% of Distorted Prism and always channels his
dividends to acquiring more. All the models working in the Members Only Suite
have hand written memos in their jackets. The memos are like, “Prime”, “Sweet”,
“Yummy”, etc. Comparing this files to models not working in the Members Only
Suite they find only they have these notations. They also discover the
disturbing fact that all the MO (Members Only) girls leave Racks (and quit the
Agency) within 6 months of taking the ‘promotion’. Kismet checks their social
media footprint and finds they have no activity after they leave the
restaurant. Saturday August 4, 2018 Atticus, under a nom de
plume, starts a blog reporting on the missing girls and stating that each of
them were seen in the presence of Manfred Saietta just before they vanished.
They are waiting for the Saietta’s to retaliate. That night their surveillance
of Racks pays off as they see Manfred coming for his once a week visit. Atticus
lobotomizes a burner cell phone so that it activates only 4 times a day and
reports on its location using a ‘where’s my phone’ ap. Paladin drives Kismet to
Racks where she is going to place the ‘bug’ in Manfred’s Lincoln . She tries to put a suggestion in his
driver’s mind for him to leave the car alone for a few minutes to use the
bathroom (and forget he’d done that). She is surprised when Bruno has mental
defense! He draws a gun and exits the car, tearing the driver’s door off in his
zest sending it flying down the block. He starts to shout ‘Show yourself, I’ll
kill you!’ Kismet quietly withdraws from
the area. When nothing else happens
Bruno calls Manfred and reports a ‘Condition Psi’ has happened. Manfred gets
Lacey’s keys and has Bruno take him home. Paladin follows him. Manfred’s Lincoln is towed away to be repaired. Kismet
takes advantage of the car not being guarded to place the tracker in it. Thus
starts a week long surveillance project on Manfred’s movements. [Addendum, GM Correction] Monday August 6, 2018 Distorted Prism got the
portfolios from Marvel Girl and Kismet, [Addendum, GM Correction
continued] Tuesday August 7, 2018 Kismet should have been
called by Carol Saietta to come in for an interview. Monday August 13, 2018 The surveillance of Manfred
is more-or-less complete. The group learns that depending on which house
Manfred stays in determines which office he does his business the next day at. Manfred’s routine includes
going to the best of restaurants, the finest movies and plays, and going to the
seediest, most perverse strip show and live sex shows that you can find in New York city ! His usual driver is Bruno but
sometimes he is driven by his daughter Julianna. At his office(s) he sees a
lot of people, several visit him many times during the week of surveillance.
One of the repeat visitors is none other than Francisco Saietta, aka Vain, his
rival for control of the clan. There are others but they are
unknown to the group. Also during this last week
Paladin was researching planets that could be used to exile criminals to. He
found a good likelihood in the planet Trimuph.
