NPC Ability/ Macro in Decent to Avernus Module

I'm new to R20 and was hoping to get a campaign running on here. Got the Decent to Avernus module and was trying to add some abilities/macros to the NPCs for easier management. For instance:  If I hit the little D20 icon next between check and X it will roll in chat, just fine. The moment I hit the check and save, if I hit the roll ability button or try to run the macro from the token action bar, it spits out: If I make a new monster and copy the stat block over from the compendium, it works just fine.  Can anyone help me figure this out?

Do you have a token that is linked to a character sheet selected when you run the code?

What appears to have happened is I made a test monster "Thug" while following along with the macro tutorials. Then after modifying the built-in thug the system got confused as to which "Thug" the token was representing. Deleting the one that I had made caused the Macro to start working
