Hope we don't find any other snake-mistresses...   Dungeon Master (GM): ok new map coming up looking up info This small village lies on the shore of the large crater lake. Its landward side is surrounded by a crude palisade of palm trunks and branches that extends into the water on both sides of the village.
Dungeon Master (GM): ok, now as you guys approach the guards take a defensive stance with spears at the ready to be thrown! any words/ actions from the party???   Jack J.: what do the guards look like? human?   BARD CHARM Maevis Silverleaf the Half Elf Bard, starts playing his/her PanPipes and attempts to Charm, with his/her Singing & Playing! If the Charming is a success: Bard’s Singing & Playing can charm Creatures within  40 ft. Creatures must Save Versus Petrification ( -1  on saving throw for every  3  levels of the bard) or be Charmed & sit entranced while the bard sings. Those not Charmed will listen to the bard for 1 full round. Charmed Creatures are subject to ‘Suggestion’, if the bard utilizes it, the charmed creatures must save vs petrification at -2 on their die rolls or be subject to the suggestion. Loud noise or physical attack will negate charm but not suggestion. This will last for 1 Turn (10 rounds) or 1 round per level of the Bard, which ever is better. (From Maevis/Quintolos):  Chance to Charm is 34%: Rolling  7 %   Dungeon Master (GM): human they are indeed and dress like natives   Jack J.: OK, Bard want to talk to them with his silver tongue?   Maevis/Quintolos: never mind was just going for talking to them   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling {1d20+ 0 }> 14  [Save vs. Petrification]{( 13 )+0} = 0 Successes   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling {1d20+ 0 }> 14  [Save vs. Petrification]{( 4 )+0} = 0 Successes   Maevis/Quintolos: "We come in peace, no harm"   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling {1d20+ 0 }> 14  [Save vs. Petrification]{( 5 )+0} = 0 Successes   Dungeon Master (GM): ok well now, looks like the guards are enjoying the bard's playing, however they are still being defensive at the moment Guard #01 says, "Cool tune dude" Guard #02 says, "Yea, it's cool man"   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We mean you no harm, May we enter your village?"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #03 says, "Nice melody"   Balen The Human Bard Says, "What would it take to get an invite inside? He could play for the whole village if you like!"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #01 says, "What business do you have here?" Guard #02 says, "Yes, perhaps you could if you mean no ill intent."   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We just want to find a safe place to rest for the night"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #03 Says, "Why not go into the city, then?"   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Is the city a better place to stay? Are they move friendly than your villagers? I find that hard to believe. Really?"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #02 says, "The mogrelmen can row you on over at their boat landing." Guard #01 Says, "Do you have business with the snake men?"   Coal Blackstone The Human Ranger Says, "Who are the mongrelmen?"   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Not today we will have business with the snakemen"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #03 says, "Ahh, you folks must be new around here. The Mongrelfolks help with getting others to and from the city and live in the city." Mr. Bard as they are charmed you could try and see if they'll comply to something you say. [the party has seen the mongrelmen before and know that they appear to be some perhaps magical mixture of various humanoid races combined into one.   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Would you be kind enough to let us rest for the night in your village before we take care of our business with the snakemen?"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #02 says, "Why yes, you all look like good and humble folks, we shall let you enter." Guards #01 & #03 shout an order and you hear something big sliding on the other side of the gate then the gate is opened   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Many thanks, kind sirs!"   Jack J.: I have 3 CLW and 2 CSW to use before we rest   Maevis/Quintolos: Maevis keeps playing to keep them goig until we find a place to rest (Maevis could use some hes at 12 of 21   Jack J.: we we get to the place to rest, ill start with Maevis   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you see what is shown on the map, various huts include some out on the water and various villagers doing tasks as young ones run around.   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Excuse me, but is it your custom for visitors to pay a visit to the chief, or is it ok if we look around on our own?"   Dungeon Master (GM): Guard #03 says, if you wish to see the Talking chief, he resides in the first hut over to your left there." "It is best to see him to make sure you can stay in the village." Guard #03 says, "You can roam the village as long as no harm comes to anyone or anything."   Balen The Human Bard Says, "We certainly mean no harm. Thank you for the information"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok looks like we pay the talking chief a visit and also looks like the token for him is not there ok you make your way to the hut and are greeted by a couple of guards at the front door Guard #01 says, "Greetings! What is your business with Chief Fano?"
Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We wish to stay the night in your village before to conduct our business in the city"   Dungeon Master (GM): The guards stand awaiting a reply Guard #02 says, "Very well, hold on as I state your presence and business, to the chief." ok so he enters the hut and comes back out a couple moments later. Guard #02 says, "Ok, you may see Chief Fano. and gestures for your to move inside. as you walk inside you see Chief Fano and a few more guards. The Chief's appearance: Fano is an   Dungeon Master (GM): elderly man, badly scarred and crippled in the left arm. His Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "Greetings folks, out of towners i see you are, I am told you wish to rest here, is that so?"   Xilicien: .His what?   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Quietly "Perhaps he could use some healing magic"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok that's just the next line saying in spite of his infirmity he takes responsibly for the tribe. the restoration would help him yes but since it was not copied to a book yet, you will lose it if read from the scroll.   Jack J.: Anything besides the restoration? ill do it but it is our best spell   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Yes, Chief Fano, We wish to rest for a night here in your village. For allowing us to do that, I could play and sing for the whole village"     Jack J.: Clerics dont have spell books they pray to gods right?     Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "Ah, yes, so It was you young man that was playing the good music? Yes, you may play some more for us, the Mantru tribe, if you wish."   Maevis/Quintolos: I would rather you save it for Quintolos hehe   Balen The Human Bard Says, "I'd say do it now. A chief in need today is better than a scroll gathering dust for years"   Balen The Human Bard Says, "But then there's that."   Jack J.: Where is quinttolos?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes jack, they basically pray to the gods for the spell, main exception would be the cleric scrolls of the prayers written down he's out swimming around in a nearby river or tributary   Jack J.: Changed into a fish?   Dungeon Master (GM): he can't be far from the water for long semi-aquatic anyways, with gills and slimey skin   Jack J.: ahh i understand now   Dungeon Master (GM): webbing between fingers and toes ok so do we help the chief out now or later in order to help Quintolos?   Jack J.: Is he close enough to get to?   Dungeon Master (GM): I think if you wait and copy the spell it will be another level or two before you can cast it. Otherwise you can read it to cast but then the spell disappears off the scroll. sheila can read it   Jack J.: ok Is he close enough to get to?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes, basically 5 ft from you   Maevis/Quintolos: Think He means Quintolos   Jack J.: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): oh ok well for quintolos you would have to travel out through the secret gate you came in from and go back to the river spot where you last met with Quitolos.   Jack J.: ok not close   Dungeon Master (GM): remember now you have a witch with a broom that could avoid that passage.   Jack J.: how long would it take for her to fly me to him?   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "Perhaps you folks would like to join me and Umlat, our tribal cleric for a meal at breakfast today?"   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Do we want to have the natives see someone take off on a broom from here? Using the scroll for Quitolos makes sense, but maybe not right now?"     Jack J.: ok ill take your guidance but another cleric mage would be helpful   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "You folks may go about your business.""   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Did you say something about breakfast? I certainly could eat, and would love to get to know you and your town better."   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Yes, We would love to join you for a meal"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok any farther actions the party wishes to do well in the village? can can attend the breakfast with Fano and Umlat if you wish or just hang around and rest up. They obviously have boats so maybe they can row you over to Taboo Island if you wish.   Jack J.: dinner then rest
Maevis/Quintolos: Yes Dinner then rest for the night get healed rested   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you attend the dinner which is held inside the council hut out on the water   Xilicien: Yes.   Devin M.: It's gotten late, & I could use some rest irl as well.   Dungeon Master (GM): it is there that you also met, "The Chief", which turns out to be a statue of an old man.   Maevis/Quintolos: The not talking Chief hehe   Jack J.: i am done for night also. ill heal everyone i can before resting. good night   Maevis/Quintolos: G night Call it a night I guess   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you are all in the council hut have a feast of a breakfast.   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "The Chief, you see here, is whom communicates with me, as i am his tongue, you see.""   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "Umlat, here, helps run the village and cares for those whom are ill."     Balen The Human Bard Says, "That's extremely interesting. Being the tongue of the chief must be difficult. Have you ever worried that you misunderstood what he was trying to tell you?"   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "It appears as of late that the Yaun-Ti, have been a bit restless and had limited travel to and from the crater area here. So It is a bit surprising to see you folks here."   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We worked out a deal with the Yuan ti"   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "As far as I know his voice inside my head has been quite clear and responsible."   Chief Fano, goes over to the statue and consults with it in deep thought for a few minutes and then returns to the table.   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "I am afraid that we disagreed on some points, so sadly we are not in league with them at this time"   Fano, The Talking Chief -Pla4 The Human Fighter Says, "The Chief says you may surely stay here to enjoy our hospitality and we can row you over to the Forbidden city if you wish, however my people will not set foot on the isle themselves. "   and with that we can stop here until next week.   Maevis/Quintolos: Ok G night   Dungeon Master (GM): Thanks for Playing Guys!   Balen: Enjoyed it all. Have a good week. Wash your hands! (I did tell you I work at the CDC, right? :) )   Dungeon Master (GM): I think you did yes! it will be interesting to see how the other illnesses decrease because of the corona virus with everyone taking extra steps now   Balen: Exactly. The same "precautions" for Corona are the precautions for any flu and most person to person contagions So, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick. Heck, stay home and play D&D on the computer. No one gets a virus that way, right? :0   Dungeon Master (GM): Right!   Balen: G'night all.
