Fog of war isn't picking up what the characters should be able to see

I can't get fog of war to work, when I move a players token it doesn't change what they can see.

Hi Ellie, are you the GM?  Have you used the reveal tool to remove some of the fog of war?

Fog of War is not dynamic lighting. It is essentially a manual mask you place over the tabletop. You can remove bits of it with the reveal tool (in the left hand toolbar). But it does not auto-update as a player token moves. The default when you turn on Fog of War is to obscurre the entire map. You must manually clear areas for the players to see.

Hey Ellie, as both Vince and keith have allready said you need to use the "reveal" tool if you want to show your players a spot on the map while you are using the normal fog of war. You can think of the regular fog of war as a black sheet of paper that you put on your gameboard to block the players from seeing the map. They will only ever see the areas of the map that you manually revealed by removing said black sheet of paper. If you want the player vision to automatically update according to what their tokens discover you have to use the "dynamic lighting" featuer which however requires the game master to have a "plus" or "pro" subscription on roll20.
