A similar person had what seems like the same issue (TL:DR at bottom):
"I have the same issue since yesterday and went through the steps, too. I'm using Chrome on Windows 10.
I tried using my laptop and another account and have the same issue there, too. I don't have the problem on my mobile devices. Images not hosted through Roll20 (e.g. linked images in handouts etc) do still work.
The issue also extends to user images (like here in the forums) and custom maps as well. In short, every image that has been uploaded by users of Roll20.
I tried to work around it by deleting an image and re-uploading it, but it seems like there is no upload happening at all. The file name shows up in my library, but the images aren't uploaded (I checked with a friend who doesn't have the issue).
Curiously the problem is kind of solved by using my smartphone as a hotspot for my laptop. But for longterm use of Roll20, that's not really practical.
The log shows dozens of errors like the following one:
(index):561 GET https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.d20.io/images/30066211/NvMPQ5eiRGVYW4_xuSfBzg/thumb.jpg?1489346634058 net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
I am not able to open the link above in the browser (Error: Website not available) but people that don't have the issue are able to do so.
I hope this helps you to fix the issue."
In addition, the maps and background (including tokens) do NOT work at all..I even tried drawing freehand on map while watching a friend stream to help me, but it wouldn't even show drawings and such. The entire map is black and only my pings work. All other windows work (like character sheet and rolls) but even the player icons and such are broken with an error image instead.
Things I've tried:
- driver updates with multiple restarts
- 3 different browsers (Chrome default, fire fox, and edge)
- cleared ALL cookies, history, and cache
- disabled ALL firewall, ad blockers, security, and extensions to test
- made sure to manual give permissions to Roll20 in settings.
