Lag with dynamic lightning

Hello, I have problems with my current map with dynamic lightning. The map is rather large, the smaller maps are running smoothly. But on the bigger map, I have lots of lags and my players too. We have very long loading times and the token movement takes a lot of time. Scrolling and zooming is lagging too. Sometimes for one of us roll20 freezes completly. Is there any fix? I´m a pretty new subscriber and new to the dynamic lightning feature, so did I something wrong perhaps? I would appreciate every help. Thank you. Greetings Stephan

It's known that larger maps may have performance issues, so this isn't entirely surprising. Check the following for some tips: Dynamic Lightning - Best Performance - wiki Optimizing Roll20 Performance The updated Dynamic Lightning should be released next week, so when it comes around, I suggest you try it out on the larger map and see if it improves preformance. It's known to improve DL+AFoW performance, but the plain DL performance improvement might be considerably smaller. If you're using AFoW and your players are exploring to large map having the issue, don't switch to the new DL system as the switch would likely reset AFoW for the map.
Okay, thank your for your answer. I used Advanced Fog of War + Dynamic Lightning. I tried to disabled AFoW and i feel a improvement. I have to wait for my players to test it out. It seems also better, when i activate AFoW but disable "show dim light" in the AFoW settings. I don´t know anything about the Dynamic Lightning Update. Is that a new thing, that I have to choose or does it applay to every dynamic lightning I set up? Thanks so much for your help!

Roll20 turns off AFoW on some large map in their modules by default due to the performance issues. That should be telling. The DL Update will be rolled out as opt-in, while the current system will remain the default for a good while. If you check the blog, you should find a post about it pretty fast.

If you do decide to use AFoW, make sure to turn off Global Illumination. There is a known and serious performance issue there.
