Accessing Monster Character sheets from Compendium entries.

Dragging some monsters from the Compendium to the VTT creates a journal entry as if it were a character which allows me to pop out the character sheet and use it to make rolls for the monster and avoid having to type in the roll command. Most monsters this does not work for. I assumed this depended upon what products I have purchased but it doesn't seem to correlate.  I have purchased the PHB, Tyranny of Dragons, Lost Mines of Phandelver and Tales from the Yawning Portal.  When I drag a goblin to the VTT the pre-created token appears but there is no journal entry for it. When I drag a specter it drops a blue icon onto the VTT and creates a journal entry for it which includes a character sheet with rollable macros in it. Both entries in the compendium come from the SRD. If I drag a dragonclaw (a special entry from Tyranny of Dragons) it drops a proper token onto the VTT and gives me a journal entry. What is determining which monsters have character sheets and how do I access stat blocks for the other creatures? Many thanks

There's a lot of issues going on here that may have different causes, so here's a breakdown: If you have a copy of a monster already in your journal tab, dragging from the compendium places the journal tab monster in your game, instead of coming from the Compendium. This is to prevent you overwriting any custom changes. If you have an official monster with a goblin in it, it should be identical to the official MM goblin, token, character sheet and all. If you make any changes to that in-game copy, dragging from journal or compendium will only place the journal copy. So if for some reason the goblin sheet was deleted or messed up, placing a goblin will only place that version. If your module does not have a particular monster in it, and you have not purchased a particular compendium such as the monster manual, the only copy you will get is the free version from the SRD, which will have a clickable character sheet, but no bio entry and no token art. If you create a game but do not choose a character sheet for it, no monster (or character) in that game will have a character sheet at all. If you believe that only a small handful of monsters in your game are affected, you can create a new instance of the module, and as a Pro user, use the Transmogrifier to replace the faulty monsters with clean version from the copy. The Transmogrifier will  overwrite, so use this with care. In all cases, if you buy a Compendium (such as the MM) or a module (such as Lost Mines of Phandelver), there should be a character sheet. There should also be a character sheet if you drag in an entry from the SRD, but there will be no bio ("journal entry"), and no token art.

Every single one should have a journal entry. What source did the goblin have? Did this happen to more than the goblin entry? Is there a chance it happened only once?

I think by "journal entry" nathan is talking about the bio tab on the journal. SRD monsters have very limited entries, with no art. But there should always  be a character sheet with clickable actions.
I just purchased the Bestiary I for pathfinder 1st edition.  I changed my game option to work with the roll20 character sheet.  My player don't use an in program sheet.  I just decided that instead of using a stack of papers in from of me having the ability to drag and drop from the program would be great.  However none of the monsters work.  Every one I pull out says "BUILDING NPC...".  I found a thread that had my same problem but it was over a year old and the thread was closed.  When I drag a token from the journal bestiary I get the correct token.  When I drag a monster from the compendium the token doesn't appear, just the blue head and shoulders.  Can you tell me what is wrong?  Is there something that I need to correct? Thanks
Brilliant, thanks for the replies. This seems to be working now so either the glitch is resolved or perhaps an unknown human error has been removed ...

Hi Jeffrey, You might get better attention by posting your issue in its own thread, where people using PF1 are likely to see it. However, the first thing that springs to mind: Are you using the official sheet? The official sheet would have "by Roll20" in the title.
