New to Roll20 - If I buy the DM and Player package do my players also have to buy them?

Hi all first post on here.  Looked through the other posts and couldn't find an answer.  I want to try starting a session on roll20.  Friends and I are holding off our regular Ars Magica game until the Covid 19 issue is over and i thought until  this thing clears I could run D&D 5e using Roll20.  We haven't played D&D since AD&D in the 80s so we are out of touch with it.  I am fine with dropping the money on the game DM and Player packages.  I know from reading on here that if I buy a module the players don't have to own it as well.  Do they have to buy the Player package to play in the game?
