AC MOD

hi all,

i'm pretty new to the platform and have a game running.

the party have just completed a side quest for a blacksmith who as a reward improved the parties ac by 1 per player.

what would i have to change to get this mod to stick? as everytime they level up they lose the +1 bonus

or would they have to just keep changing it after they level up?

cheers

Hi, what sheet/system are you using? I'm going to assume the 5e OGL sheet by Roll20 as it is the most commonly used one:

In each players sheet you can go to their settings (the cog) and enable the global ac modifier section. In there you can then create an entry called 'Blacksmith Improvement' or something with a value of 1 which will permanently apply the bonus to their characters. Should they ever unequip their armour they can just uncheck that box also :)

im using the 5e sheet from the players handbook as i have bought that.

i have enabled the check box where do i add the stat?

That checkbox will have enabled display of a field on the main tab again, just under the attacks section.

Alternatively you could add the following to the 'mods' section of their armour: `Ac +1` (you might need to prefix it with a ', ' if there are already other things in that area... final option, give them a +1 magical variant of their existing armour but edit the name to remove the +1 ;)

Sorry probably sounding like a total n00b here.

I've added the mod in and checked the box but no change to ac am I missing something

Not that I know of, it should work pretty much out of the box, could we get a screenshot of the sheet in question?

Nothing wrong there.

What armour do they have equipped (does it have any mods on it beyond the norm)?

What is their AC showing as?

Is there a duplicated attribute on the 'attributes and abilities' tab for AC (if you've been editing it manually it could have caused this)?

Nothing duplicated in attributes and abilities that i can see

Is 21 the manually modified version?

I just created a character with the same Dex, chainmail, a shield, fighting style of defence and the blacksmith improved condition and AC correctly calculated at 20... I do notice that the chainmail shown has an AC of 18 too?

I'm not even sure where it's meant to be anymore lol

It gets that way sometimes doesn't it lol... I'd try finding the AC attribute on the abilities/attributes tab and deleting it... then head back and change DEX to 12 and back to 14 to trigger an updated calculation to recreate the AC attribute... see what that comes up with?

(There might not be a visible AC attribute listed FYI... in that case proceed to step 2 and modify DEX by at least 2 points and back again)
