D6 Star Wars - West End Games

Sending out a feelers if anyone is interested in returning to 1992-1998 for the heydays of SW RPG.  I have a complete collection of material from WEG. Matt
Depending on time and frequency, I'd be interested.  I never got the chance to play, just GM this game back in the day.

Yes this would be a semi-regular game
I also forgot to mention... I am in Pacific Time Zone. hahahaha the wonders of the internet!
Interested; looking for Sunday or Tuesday evening game.
Matt W. said:  I also forgot to mention... I am in Pacific Time Zone If you're one of those married guys looking to run a weekend game in the morning, because family life takes the afternoon, that would work just perfectly for my time zone. But I'm sure that's just wishful thinking on my part! :-D
Sounds great i would love to join.
I'm interested in trying it out, but I'm only available after 10 pm pacific time
I apologize for this being off topic but I just had to say, the last time I played West End D6 Star Wars the GM not only knew the system so well that he could figuratively GM it in his sleep.  It seemed as if he literally did just that on that one occasion.  I'm not sure, but I think I played a Wookie in that game.  Ah well, have fun guys.
I would love to play this classic game again!  Are you still looking for players?
Normally I'm more of a Saga Edition guy, but at the moment I'm pretty desperate for a Star Wars game in general. The West End rules are pretty different from what I'm used to, but they're not unworkable. I would be available most Mondays and Wednesdays, and possibly Teusday or Thursday evenings. Central Time Zone.
Glad you don't think D6 edition is unworkable. Fair to say i feel the same about Saga edition. ;-)
I never acctually looked at the west end rules can i be sent a link but im open to new games and i want to play star wars not really care how
The WEG Star Wars books are protected under copyright and are long out of print, so you'd need to pick-up a copy of the rules off eBay if you want to get any of the specific Star Wars books. However, the generic D6 rules have since been released under an open license; you can get D6 Space and other D6 books from opend6.wikidot.com . If I remember, D6 Space is a derivative of WEG's Star Wars Rulebook 2nd edition, Revised and Expanded (the final SW core rulebook released by WEG) with a few changes and obviously not tied to a specific setting. It's a good intro to D6 rules in a space opera setting.
I would be interested in the WED6 version.  I haven't played it in years, but I could pick it right back up.  eastern standard time here.
I would be very interested in this too , prefer weekends , GMT
Would love to join a game if your playing Fri-Sun times.  I'm Central timezone and have most of the source material as well.  Wanted to GM but haven't done it in a long time.
Does anyone know how to put the wild die in the dice rolls for a WEG style rolling in roll20?

Dice reference   Exploding dice, also known as "rule of 6" or "rule of 10s" depending on your gaming system, rolls an additional die if the maximum is rolled. If the additional roll is also the maximum number the additional rolls keep on going! The Compare Point can be specified to change the exploding trigger. Example Exploding Dice 3d6!  - Rolls 3d6 and explodes every time a 6 is rolled 3d6!>5  - Rolls 3d6 and explodes every time a 5 or 6 is rolled Shadowrun (and some other systems) use a special style of exploding dice where the the additional rolls for each dice are added together as a single "roll". To do this, just use two exclamation marks instead of one. With the compounding exploding rolls a single roll can be infinitely high! The Compare Point can be specified to change the exploding trigger. Example Compounding Dice 5d6!!  - Rolls 5d6 and compound every time a 6 is rolled 5d6!!5  - Rolls 5d6 and compound every time a 5 is rolled, 6's will be treated as a normal roll There are more info on the page I link listed.
Ira, I don't believe there's a way to recreate the wild die currently.  Metro's explanation above handles the exploding aspect of it, but outside of the API, nothing handles the subtraction of the highest die in the pool if you roll a 1 on the wild die. Note - while I think this would be possible to script based on what I know of the API, I have no direct experience with it.  I wouldn't spring for a mentor account based on what this one guy said on this one thread.

I have the original West End Game Star Wars book!  I can believe that GM who could run it in his sleep because the rules were sooooo easy.  Since it was a familiar background and had lots of "how-to" stuff in it, great for beginners. Also I bought the "d20" edition after with the new Star Wars trilogy stuff, but it seemed to me like D&D is the Borg trying to absorb even science fiction games and absorb their particular uniqueness into "d20" thinking.  Didn't like that, so didn't read it much.  I know I'm mixing movie-properties here! I also once ran a hilarious game for 3 nights on the MEN IN BLACK rules, which is also West End Games d6, from the 1990's.  Agents' letters were related to their specialties:  Y (Why?): Forensics, G (Gee): Driver who does not hesitate to Pull the Red Lever, W (Double-You):  master of Disguise, etc. So let's continue to talk.  I am in the Eastern Time Zone.  EDT or GMT-4 right now.
